< 1 Samuel 9 >

1 Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Becorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjaminite, a mighty man of valor.
Waaliwo omusajja Omubenyamini eyali omututumufu erinnya lye Kiisi, mutabani wa Abiyeeri, mutabani wa Zeroli, mutabani wa Bekolaasi, mutabani wa Afiya, Omubenyamini.
2 He had a son, whose name was Saul, a handsome young man; and there was no one among the children of Israel more handsome than he was. From his shoulders and upward he was taller than any of the people.
Yalina mutabani we erinnya lye Sawulo, nga mulenzi alabika bulungi, era nga tewali amwenkana obulungi mu bantu ba Isirayiri, nga muwanvu okusinga abantu bonna.
3 Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul's father, were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, "Take now one of the servants with you, and arise, go and look for the donkeys." So Saul got up and took one of the servants of his father with him and went to look for the donkeys of his father Kish.
Endogoyi za Kiisi, kitaawe wa Sawulo zaali zibuze. Kiisi n’agamba mutabani we Sawulo nti, “Twala omu ku baweereza, mugende munoonye endogoyi.”
4 He passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. Then they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they weren't there. Then he passed through the land of the Jaminites, but they did not find them.
5 When they had come to Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, "Come, and let us return, lest my father stop caring about the donkeys, and be anxious for us."
Awo bwe baatuuka mu nsi ya Zufu, Sawulo n’agamba omuweereza eyali naye nti, “Jjangu tuddeyo, sikuba nga kitange ava ku b’endogoyi, n’atandika okweraliikirira ffe.”
6 He said to him, "See now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is a man who is held in honor. All that he says surely comes to pass. Now let us go there. Perhaps he can tell us concerning our journey on which we have set out."
Naye omuweereza n’amuddamu nti, “Laba, mu kibuga muno mulimu omusajja wa Katonda, era assibwamu nnyo ekitiibwa, na buli ky’ayogera kituukirira. Tugendeyo, oboolyawo anaayinza okututegeeza ekkubo lye tuba tukwata.”
7 Then Saul said to his servant, "But look, if we go, what shall we bring the man? For the bread is gone in our vessels, and there is no gift to bring to the man of God. What do we have?"
Sawulo n’agamba omuweereza we nti, “Naye bwe tugendayo, omusajja tunaamutwalira ki? Emmere eweddemu mu nsawo zaffe, ate tewali na kirabo kya kutwalira musajja wa Katonda. Tulinawo ki?”
8 The servant answered Saul again, and said, "Look, I have in my hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver. You shall give that to the man of God, to tell us about our journey."
Omuweereza n’addamu Sawulo nti, “Laba, wano nninawo gulaamu ssatu eza ffeeza, era ze nzija okuwa omusajja wa Katonda atutegeeze ekkubo lye tuba tukwata.”
9 (In earlier times in Israel, whenever someone went to inquire of God, he would say, "Come, and let us go to the seer"; for he who is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer.)
(Edda mu Isirayiri, omuntu bwe yagendanga okwebuuza ku Katonda, yayogeranga nti, “Jjangu tugende ew’omulabi;” kubanga ayitibwa nnabbi mu nnaku zino, edda ye yayitibwanga omulabi).
10 Then Saul said to his servant, "Well said. Come, let us go." So they went to the city where the man of God was.
Sawulo n’amuddamu nti, “Oteesezza bulungi, jjangu tugende.” Ne basitula okugenda mu kibuga omusajja wa Katonda gye yali.
11 As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, "Is the seer here?"
Awo bwe baali nga balinnyalinnya akasozi okugenda mu kibuga ne basisinkana abawala abaali bagenda okusena amazzi, ne bababuuza nti, “Omulabi gy’ali?”
12 And they answered them, and said, "He is. Look, he is ahead of you. Just now he has come to the city since the people have a sacrifice today on the high place.
Ne babaddamu nti, “Gy’ali. Ali mu maaso awo. Mwanguweeko, yaakatuuka kati mu kibuga, kubanga leero abantu balina ssaddaaka ey’okuweerayo mu kifo ekigulumivu.
13 As soon as you have come into the city, you shall immediately find him, before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes, because he must bless the sacrifice, and afterwards those who are invited may eat. Now therefore go up for you shall find him right now."
Bwe munaaba nga mwakayingira mu kibuga, mujja kumusisinkana nga tannayambuka kuliira mu kifo ekigulumivu. Abantu tebajja kulya nga tannatuuka, kubanga alina okusabira ssaddaaka omukisa n’oluvannyuma abayitiddwa balyoke balye. Kaakano mwanguwe mugende, mujja kumusisinkana.”
14 They went up to the city. As they came within the city, look, Samuel came out toward them, to go up to the high place.
Awo ne bayambuka okugenda mu kibuga. Bwe baali bakiyingira ne balaba Samwiri ng’ajja gye bali, ng’ayolekedde ekifo ekigulumivu.
15 Now YHWH had revealed to Samuel a day before Saul came, saying,
Kyokka bwe waali wakyabulayo olunaku lumu Sawulo ajje, Mukama yali abikkulidde Samwiri ekigambo ng’agamba nti,
16 "Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel; and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have seen the suffering of my people, because their cry has come to me."
“Enkya ku ssaawa nga zino nzija kukusindikira omusajja okuva mu nsi ya Benyamini. Mufukeeko amafuta okuba omukulembeze w’abantu bange, Isirayiri; oyo y’alirokola abantu bange okuva mu mukono gw’Abafirisuuti. Ntunuulidde abantu bange; okukaaba kwabwe kutuuse gye ndi.”
17 When Samuel saw Saul, YHWH said to him, "Look, the man of whom I spoke to you. This one shall have authority over my people."
Awo Samwiri olwalengera Sawulo, Mukama n’amugamba nti, “Omusajja gwe nakutegeezezzaako wuuyo. Oyo y’ajja okufuga abantu bange.”
18 Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the city, and said, "Tell me where is the house of the seer?"
Sawulo n’asemberera Samwiri mu mulyango, n’amubuuza nti, “Ssebo oyinza okundagirira ennyumba y’omulabi w’eri?”
19 And Samuel answered Saul, and said, "I am he. Go up before me to the high place, for you will eat with me today. In the morning I will let you go, and will tell you all that is in your heart.
Samwiri n’amuddamu nti, “Nze mulabi, nkulemberaamu nga twambuka mu kifo ekigulumivu, kubanga leero onooliira wamu nange, enkya ku makya nzija kukuleka ogende era nzija kukubuulira ebyo byonna ebiri ku mutima gwo.
20 As for your donkeys who were lost three days ago, do not set your mind on them; for they have been found. And for whom does all Israel desire? Is it not for you, and for the house of your father?"
Naye ebifa ku ndogoyi zo ezimaze ennaku essatu nga zibuze, tobyeraliikirira, kubanga zaazuuliddwa. Okwegomba kwa Isirayiri yonna kunaaba kw’ani, bwe kutaabe ku ggwe n’ennyumba ya kitaawo yonna?”
21 Saul answered, "Am I not a Benjaminite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me like this?"
Sawulo n’addamu nti, “Nze ndi Mubenyamini, era nva mu kika ekisingirayo ddala obutono, ate nga n’ennyumba yaffe y’esingira ddala okuba eya wansi mu nnyumba zonna ez’ekika kya Benyamini. Lwaki oyogera nange ebigambo ebifaanana ng’ebyo?”
22 Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the guest room, and made them sit in the best place among those who were invited, who were about thirty persons.
Awo Samwiri n’atwala Sawulo n’omuweereza we mu kisenge ekinene, n’abatuuza mu bifo eby’oku mwanjo mu maaso g’abo bonna abaayitibwa abaali bawera ng’amakumi asatu.
23 And Samuel said to the cook, "Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I told you to set aside."
Samwiri n’agamba omufumbi nti, “Leeta ekifi ky’ennyama, kye nakuteresezza, kye nakugambye oteeke wabbali.”
24 The cook picked up the leg, and that which was attached to it, and set it before Saul. And he said, "Look, here is what has been kept for you. Set it before you and eat, because it was kept especially for you until the right time; because I said, 'I have invited the people.'" So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
Awo omufumbi n’addira ekisambi, n’ebyakiriko n’akiteeka mu maaso ga Sawulo. Samwiri n’ayogera nti, “Laba kino kye kyakuterekeddwa. Kirye kubanga kyakuterekeddwa okutuusa ekiseera kino olw’omukolo guno, okuva ku kiseera kiri, bwe nagamba nti, ‘Nnina abagenyi abayite.’” Awo Sawulo n’aliira wamu ne Samwiri ku lunaku olwo.
25 When they had come down from the high place into the city, they prepared a bed for Saul on the roof,
Bwe baava mu kifo ekigulumivu ne baserengeta mu kibuga, Samwiri n’atwala Sawulo waggulu ku nnyumba ye ne banyumyamu.
26 and he slept. And it happened about daybreak that Samuel called to Saul on the roof, saying, "Get up, that I may send you away." So Saul got up, and he and Samuel went outside.
Awo enkeera Samwiri n’agolokoka mu makya n’akoowoola Sawulo nti, “Golokoka nkusibule odde ku lugendo lwo.” Sawulo ne yeteekateeka, ye ne Samwiri ne baserengeta okugenda mu kibuga.
27 As they were going down to the edge of the city, Samuel said to Saul, "Tell the servant to go on ahead of us. But you remain here awhile, so that I may make known to you the word of God."
Bwe baali baserengeta nga banaatera okutuuka ekibuga we kikoma, Samwiri n’agamba Sawulo nti, “Gamba omuweereza wo ayitewo, atukulemberemu, gwe osigaleko wano, nkutegeeze obubaka obuva eri Katonda.”
