1 Samuel 24
1 It happened, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, "Look, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi."
A gdy Saul wrócił z pościgu za Filistynami, doniesiono mu: Oto Dawid przebywa na pustyni En-Gedi.
2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men on the rocks of the wild goats.
Saul wziął więc trzy tysiące doborowych mężczyzn spośród całego Izraela i wyruszył na poszukiwanie Dawida i jego ludzi po skałach dzikich kóz.
3 He came to the sheep pens by the way, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.
I przybył do owczych zagród przy drodze, gdzie była jaskinia. Wszedł do niej Saul, by zakryć sobie nogi. Dawid zaś i jego ludzie siedzieli w głębi jaskini.
4 The men of David said to him, "Look, the day of which YHWH said to you, 'Look, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose, and cut off an edge of Saul's robe secretly.
Ludzie Dawida powiedzieli do niego: Oto dzień, o którym PAN ci powiedział: Oto wydam twego wroga w twoje ręce, abyś z nim uczynił to, co wyda ci się słuszne. Dawid wstał więc i po cichu odciął skraj płaszcza Saula.
5 It happened afterward, that David's heart struck him, because he had cut off an edge of Saul's robe.
Potem jednak serce Dawida zadrżało z tego powodu, że odciął skraj płaszcza Saula.
6 He said to his men, "YHWH forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, YHWH's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, since he is YHWH's anointed."
I zwrócił się do swoich ludzi: Nie daj Boże, żebym miał to uczynić memu panu, pomazańcowi PANA, bym miał wyciągnąć swoją rękę na niego, ponieważ jest pomazańcem PANA.
7 So David persuaded his men with these words and did not allow them to rise up against Saul. Then Saul got up, and went down the road.
Tymi słowami Dawid powstrzymał swych ludzi i nie pozwolił im powstać przeciw Saulowi. Saul zaś wyszedł z jaskini i poszedł swoją drogą.
8 Afterward David also got up and left the cave, and called out after Saul, saying, "My lord the king." When Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the ground and did homage.
Potem Dawid również wstał, wyszedł z jaskini i zawołał za Saulem: Mój panie, królu! Kiedy Saul obejrzał się za siebie, Dawid schylił się twarzą ku ziemi i pokłonił się.
9 David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, saying, 'Look, David seeks your harm?'
Następnie Dawid powiedział do Saula: Dlaczego słuchasz opowieści ludzi, którzy mówią: Oto Dawid pragnie twojej zguby?
10 Look, this day your eyes have seen how that YHWH had delivered you today into my hand in the cave, but I refused to kill you, and my eye spared you; and I said, 'I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is YHWH's anointed.'
Oto dziś twoje oczy widzą, że PAN wydał cię w jaskini w moje ręce. I namawiano [mnie], bym cię zabił, lecz oszczędziłem cię i powiedziałem: Nie wyciągnę swojej ręki na mego pana, bo jest pomazańcem PANA.
11 Now look, the skirt of your robe in my hand. When I cut off the skirt, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my life to take it.
Zobacz, mój ojcze, zobacz skraj swego płaszcza w mojej ręce. Odcinając ci bowiem skraj twego płaszcza, nie zabiłem cię. Wiedz i zobacz, że nie ma w mojej ręce złości ani nieprawości, ani też nie zgrzeszyłem przeciwko tobie. A ty czyhasz na moje życie, by [mi] je odebrać.
12 May YHWH judge between me and you, and may YHWH avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be on you.
Niech PAN rozsądzi między mną a tobą i niech PAN za mnie zemści się na tobie. Lecz nie podniosę swojej ręki na ciebie.
13 As the proverb of the ancients says, 'Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness;' but my hand shall not be on you.
Jak mówi starodawne przysłowie: Od niegodziwych pochodzi niegodziwość, ale nie podniosę swojej ręki na ciebie.
14 Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? After a dead dog, or one flea?
Za kim wyruszył król Izraela? Kogo gonisz? Zdechłego psa? Jedną pchłę?
15 May YHWH therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you. May he see and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand."
Niech PAN będzie sędzią i niech rozsądzi między mną a tobą, niech zobaczy i ujmie się w mojej sprawie, i niech mnie wyzwoli z twojej ręki.
16 It came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, "Is this your voice, my son David?" Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
I kiedy Dawid przestał mówić te słowa do Saula, Saul zawołał: Czy to jest twój głos, synu mój, Dawidzie? I Saul podniósł swój głos, i zapłakał.
17 He said to David, "You are more righteous than I; for you have done good to me, whereas I have done evil to you.
Potem powiedział do Dawida: Jesteś sprawiedliwszy ode mnie, bo oddałeś mi dobrem, a ja tobie oddałem złem.
18 And you have declared this day how you have dealt well with me, in that YHWH had delivered me up into your hand and you did not kill me.
Dziś pokazałeś, że świadczysz mi dobro. Choć bowiem PAN wydał mnie w twoje ręce, nie zabiłeś mnie.
19 For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? Therefore may YHWH reward you good for that which you have done this day.
Gdy ktoś spotka swego wroga, to czy wypuści go na dobrą drogę? Niech PAN odpłaci ci dobrem za to, co mi dziś uczyniłeś.
20 Now, look, I know that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.
A teraz oto wiem, że z pewnością będziesz królem i że królestwo Izraela ostoi się w twojej ręce.
21 Swear now therefore to me by YHWH, that you will not cut off my descendants after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house."
Przysięgnij mi więc na PANA, że nie wytępisz mojego potomstwa po mnie i nie wytracisz mojego imienia z domu mego ojca.
22 David swore to Saul. Saul went home; but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
I Dawid przysiągł Saulowi. Potem Saul wrócił do swego domu, a Dawid i jego ludzie udali się do miejsca obronnego.
