1 Peter 3
1 In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;
Semejantemente vosotras mujeres, sed sujetas a vuestros maridos; para que si también algunos no creen a la palabra, sean ganados sin palabra por la conversación de las mujeres:
2 seeing your pure behavior in fear.
Considerando vuestra casta conversación, que es con reverencia.
3 Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing;
La compostura de las cuales, no sea exterior con encrespamiento de cabellos, y atavío de oro, ni en composición de ropas;
4 but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious.
Mas el hombre del corazón que está encubierto sea sin toda corrupción, y de espíritu agradable, y pacífico, lo cual es de grande estima delante de Dios.
5 For this is how the holy women before, who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
Porque así también se ataviaban en el tiempo antiguo aquellas santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, estando sujetas a sus propios maridos:
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
Al modo que Sara obedecía a Abraham, llamándole señor: de la cual vosotras sois hechas hijas, haciendo bien, y no siendo amedrentadas de ningún pavor.
7 You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.
Vosotros maridos semejantemente cohabitád con ellas según ciencia, dando honor a la mujer, como a vaso más frágil, y como a herederas juntamente de la gracia de vida; para que vuestras oraciones no sean impedidas.
8 Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble,
Y finalmente sed todos de un consentimiento, de una afección, amándoos hermanablemente, misericordiosos, amigables,
9 not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.
No volviendo mal por mal, ni maldición por maldición, sino antes por el contrario, bendiciendo: sabiendo que para esto vosotros fuisteis llamados, para que poseáis en herencia bendición.
10 For, "He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
Porque el que quiere amar la vida, y ver los días buenos, refrene su lengua de mal, y sus labios no hablen engaño.
11 Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
Apártese del mal, y haga bien: busque la paz, y sígala.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
Porque los ojos del Señor están sobre los justos, y sus oídos atentos a sus oraciones: el rostro del Señor está sobre aquellos que hacen mal.
13 Now who is he who will harm you, if you become zealous of that which is good?
¿Y quién es aquel que os podrá empecer, si fueseis imitadores del bueno?
14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not fear what they fear, nor be troubled."
Mas también si alguna cosa padecéis por amor a la justicia, sois bienaventurados. Por tanto no temáis por el temor de aquellos, y no seáis turbados;
15 But sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with humility and fear:
Mas santificád al Señor Dios en vuestros corazones; y estád siempre aparejados para responder a cada uno que os demanda razón de la esperanza que está en vosotros; y esto con mansedumbre y reverencia;
16 having a good conscience; so that when they speak evil against you, they may be put to shame who slander your good manner of life in Christ.
Teniendo buena conciencia, para que en lo que dicen mal de vosotros como de malhechores, sean confundidos los que calumnian vuestro buen proceder en Cristo.
17 For it is better, if it is God's will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.
Porque mejor es que padezcáis haciendo bien, (si la voluntad de Dios así lo quiere, ) que no haciendo mal.
18 Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
Porque también Cristo padeció una vez por los pecados, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos a Dios, mortificado a la verdad en la carne, pero vivificado por el Espíritu.
19 in which he also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison,
En el cual también fue, y predicó a los espíritus que estaban en cárcel:
20 who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the box-shaped ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved by means of water.
Los cuales en el tiempo pasado fueron desobedientes, cuando una vez se esperaba la paciencia de Dios, en los días de Noé, cuando se aparejaba el arca, en la cual pocas, es a saber, ocho personas, fueron salvas por agua.
21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
A la figura de la cual el bautismo, que ahora corresponde, nos salva a nosotros también, (no quitando las inmundicias de la carne, mas dando testimonio de buena conciencia delante de Dios, ) por medio de la resurrección de Jesu Cristo:
22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
El cual, siendo subido al cielo, está a la diestra de Dios: a quien están sujetos los ángeles, y las potestades, y virtudes.
