< 1 Peter 2 >

1 Putting away therefore all wickedness, and all deceit, and hypocrisy, and envy, and all slander,
Rumal riꞌ chitzaqa bꞌa kanoq ronojel etzelal, ri taqchiꞌnik pa mak, kawachaj, tiꞌtatem xuqujeꞌ ronojel uwach bꞌanoj tzij.
2 as newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby to salvation,
Chirayij ri utzij ri Dios jetaq ri kubꞌan jun laj akꞌal kurayij ri leche rech jeriꞌ kixkiꞌyik pa ri ikolotajem.
3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good:
Jeriꞌ chibꞌana rumal cher iwetaꞌm chik chi ri Ajawxel sibꞌalaj utz.
4 coming to him, a living stone, though rejected by people but chosen by God, precious.
Ri Cristo are kꞌaslik abꞌaj chaꞌtal rumal ri Dios ri xetzelax kumal ri winaq. Chixqebꞌ rukꞌ Areꞌ.
5 You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Ri ix kꞌut jer ix kꞌo kꞌaslik taq abꞌaj ri kakoj chuyakik ri Templo rech chikajil. Jeriꞌ rech kixux chꞌawenelabꞌ cho ri Dios rech kitzuj sipanik che ri Dios pa Jesucristo rukꞌ ri utobꞌanik ri Uxlabꞌixel.
6 Because it is contained in Scripture, "Look, I am laying in Zion a stone, a chosen precious cornerstone, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame."
Ri tzꞌibꞌatalik kubꞌij: Chiwilampeꞌ, kinya pa Sión jun abꞌaj ri nuchaꞌom xuqujeꞌ paqal rajil, xapachin ri kakubꞌiꞌ ukꞌuꞌx chirij man kel ta ukꞌixibꞌal.
7 For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who do not believe, "The stone which the builders rejected, has become the chief cornerstone,"
Chiꞌwech ix ri ix kojonelabꞌ waꞌ, we abꞌaj riꞌ sibꞌalaj kꞌo uqꞌij, chike ri man e kojonelabꞌ taj, are waꞌ ri abꞌaj ri xketzelaj uwach pune jeriꞌ xux na ri abꞌaj ri qas kꞌo kutayij.
8 and, "a stone to stumble over, and a rock to trip over." For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, to which also they were appointed.
Xuqujeꞌ: Jun abꞌaj topibꞌal aqanaj, ri kuꞌtzaq e kꞌi. Ri winaq ketzaqik are man kakinimaj taj ri utz laj tzij ri kabꞌix chike.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Ri ix kꞌut ixchaꞌtalik taq ijaꞌl, ix chꞌawenelabꞌ cho ri Dios, ix jun tinimit ri ixchaꞌtalik, ix utinimit ri Dios, ix tzijol taq rech ri jeꞌl laj taq uchak ri Dios ri xixresaj loq pa ri qꞌequꞌmal, xixukꞌam loq pa ri mayijabꞌal laj tunal.
10 who once were not a people, but now are God's people, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Ri ix nabꞌe kanoq man ix utinimit taj ri Dios, kamik kꞌut ix utinimit chik. Ojer man ikꞌamawaꞌm taj ri utoqꞌobꞌ ri Dios kamik kꞌut ikꞌamawaꞌm chik.
11 Beloved, I urge you as foreigners and temporary residents, to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 having good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Qas utz chixnoꞌjinoq chikiwach ri man e kojonelabꞌ taj, rech man kakibꞌij taj chi itzel kixnoꞌjinik xane are kakil ri utz taq inoꞌjibꞌal rech jeriꞌ kakiya na uqꞌij ri Dios pa ri qꞌij rech kolotajem.
13 Subject yourselves to every human institution for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;
Chiꞌnimaj konojel ri e qꞌatal taq tzij rech uwachulew pune are ri qas nim kabꞌan rech,
14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.

15 For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people:
Ri urayibꞌal ukꞌuꞌx ri Dios are chi kabꞌan ri utzilal rech kaqꞌatex ri etzelal ri kakibꞌan ri itzel taq winaq ri maj ketaꞌmabꞌal.
16 as free, and not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but as slaves of God.
We are kibꞌan ri sukꞌal qas kixkꞌojiꞌ na riꞌ pa ri kiritajem, man are ta kibꞌan ri etzelal xane are chibꞌana ri utzilal rech jeriꞌ kikꞌutu chi ix patanil rech ri Dios.
17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
Nim chiꞌwila konojel ri winaq, chiꞌloqꞌaj ri alaxik, chimochꞌo iwibꞌ choch ri Dios xuqujeꞌ chinimaj ri nim qꞌatal tzij.
18 Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
Ajchakibꞌ, chimochꞌo iwibꞌ xuqujeꞌ chiꞌnimaj ri ajchoqꞌe chak man xwi taj kiꞌnimaj ri utz kakibꞌan chiꞌwe, xane chiꞌnimaj pune itzel kenoꞌjin chiꞌwe.
19 For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Jeriꞌ rumal cher sibꞌalaj nim kil jun rumal ri Dios pune utz kanoꞌjinik kabꞌan kꞌax che.
20 For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
¿Jas kꞌu che nimaꞌq kinaꞌo rukꞌ ri kꞌax kibꞌano? Kabꞌan kꞌax chiꞌwe rumal ri kꞌax ri kibꞌano, we kabꞌan kꞌax chiꞌwe rumal ri utzilal ri kibꞌano, ri Dios kuya na iqꞌij.
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
Are waꞌ ita xixusikꞌij apanoq ri Dios, riꞌ ri Jesucristo xuriq kꞌax, xuqujeꞌ xukꞌut kanoq chiꞌwach jas jeꞌ rajawaxik kixnoꞌjinik.
22 who "committed no sin, nor was deceit found in his mouth."
Ri Cristo maj jun nitzꞌ laj mak xubꞌano, xuqujeꞌ man xubꞌij ta wi jun kꞌax laj tzij.
23 Who, when he was cursed, did not curse back. When he suffered, did not threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously;

24 who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose wounds you were healed.
Ri Cristo xukꞌam bꞌik pa ri utyoꞌjal ri qamak choch ri ripbꞌal, jeriꞌ rech kujkamik man kaqabꞌan ta chik ri mak, xane rech kujkꞌasiꞌk chubꞌanik ri sukꞌal. Xa rumal ri usokotajik ri Cristo xixutzir ix.
25 For you were going astray like sheep; but now have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Nabꞌe kanoq, je ri ix kꞌo ri sachinaq chij, kamik kꞌut xixtzalij loq rukꞌ ri ajyuqꞌ ri kakwinik kuchajij ri ikꞌaslemal.
