< 1 Kings 19 >
1 Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword.
Pea naʻe fakahā ʻe ʻEhapi kia Sisipeli ʻae meʻa kotoa pē naʻe fai ʻe ʻIlaisiā, pea mo ʻene tāmate ʻae kau kikite kotoa pē ʻaki ʻae heletā.
2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time."
Pea naʻe toki fekau atu ha talafekau ʻe Sisipeli kia ʻIlaisiā, ke ne pehē, “Ke fai pehē pe kiate au ʻe he ngaahi ʻotua, pea lahi hake foki, ʻo kapau ʻe ʻikai te u fakatatau ʻa hoʻo moʻui ʻaʻau mo e moʻui ʻa ha taha ʻiate kinautolu, ʻi he feituʻulaʻā ni ʻapongipongi.”
3 And he was afraid, and he got up and fled for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.
Pea ʻi heʻene mamata ki ai, naʻa ne tuʻu hake, mo ne hola ke ne moʻui, pea ne haʻu ki Peasipa ʻaia ʻoku ʻi Siuta, ʻo ne tuku ʻi ai ʻa ʻene tamaioʻeiki.
4 But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough. Now, YHWH, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers."
Ka ka ʻalu pe ia ki he toafa ko e fonongaʻanga ʻoe ʻaho ʻe taha, pea ne haʻu ʻo nofo hifo ʻi he lolo ʻakau ko e sunipa: pea naʻa ne kole maʻana ke ne mate; ʻo ne pehē, “Kuo lahi, ʻE Sihova, toʻo atu eni ʻa ʻeku moʻui: he ʻoku ʻikai te u lelei lahi hake au ʻi heʻeku ngaahi tamai.”
5 He lay down and slept under a broom tree. And look, an angel touched him, and said to him, "Arise and eat."
6 He looked, and look, there was at his head a cake baked on the coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank, and lay down again.
Pea naʻa ne sio, pea vakai, ko e foʻi mā naʻe tunu ʻi he funga fefie, pea tuʻu ofi ha ipu vai ki hono ʻolunga. “Pea naʻa ne kai mo inu, pea toe tokoto ia ki lalo.”
7 The angel of YHWH came again the second time, and touched him, and said, "Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you."
Pea naʻe toe haʻu ʻae ʻāngelo ʻa Sihova ko hono liunga ua, ʻo ala kiate ia, ʻo ne pehē, “Tuʻu hake ʻo kai; he ʻoku lōloa fau ʻae hala kiate koe.”
8 And he got up and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the Mount of God.
Pea naʻa ne tuʻu hake, mo ne kai mo inu, pea naʻa ne ʻalu ʻi he mālohi ʻoe meʻakai ko ia ʻi he ʻaho ʻe fāngofulu mo e pō ʻe fāngofulu ki Holepi ko e moʻunga ʻoe ʻOtua.
9 And there he came to a cave and lodged there; and look, the word of YHWH came to him, and he said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
Pea naʻa ne ʻomi ai ki ha ʻanaʻi maka, ʻo ne nofo ai; pea vakai naʻe hoko mai ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kiate ia, pea naʻa ne pehē kiate ia, “Ko e hā ʻoku ke fai ʻi heni, ʻIlaisiā?”
10 He said, "I have been very jealous for YHWH, the God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Naʻaku loto feinga ʻaupito koeʻuhi ko Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi tokolahi: he kuo liʻaki hoʻo fuakava ʻe he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, pea kuo lī hifo hoʻo ngaahi feilaulauʻanga, pea nau tāmateʻi ʻa hoʻo kau palōfita ʻaki ʻae heletā; pea ko au, ʻio, ko au tokotaha pe ʻoku toe; pea ʻoku nau kumi ʻa ʻeku moʻui, ke toʻo atu ia.”
11 And he said, "Go out tomorrow and stand on the mountain before YHWH." Look, YHWH passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before YHWH; but YHWH was not in the wind. After the wind an earthquake; but YHWH was not in the earthquake.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Ke ke ʻalu atu, mo ke tuʻu ʻi he funga moʻunga ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova. Pea vakai, naʻe hāʻele atu ʻa Sihova, pea naʻe mafahifahi ʻae moʻunga ʻe he matangi mālohi, pea ne fakamomomomoiiki ʻae ngaahi maka ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova; ka naʻe ʻikai ʻi he matangi ʻa Sihova: pea hili ʻae matangi naʻe mofuike; ka naʻe ʻikai ʻi he mofuike ʻa Sihova:
12 After the earthquake a fire passed; but YHWH was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
Pea hili ʻae mofuike ko e afi; ka naʻe ʻikai ʻi he afi ʻa Sihova: pea hili ʻae afi naʻe ʻi ai ʻae kihiʻi leʻo mālie.”
13 It was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his cloak, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. Look, a voice came to him, and said, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"
Pea pehē, ʻi heʻene fanongo ki ai ʻa ʻIlaisiā, naʻa ne fakapulou hono mata ʻaki ʻa hono pulupulu, mo ne ʻalu atu ʻo tuʻu ʻi he hūʻanga ʻoe ʻana. Pea vakai, ko e leʻo naʻe pehē mai kiate ia, “Ko e hā ʻoku ke fai ʻi heni ʻIlaisiā?”
14 He said, "I have been very jealous for YHWH, the God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe ia, “Naʻaku loto feinga ʻaupito koeʻuhi ko Sihova ko e ʻOtua ʻoe ngaahi tokolahi: koeʻuhi kuo liʻaki hoʻo fuakava ʻe he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, pea kuo lī hifo hoʻo ngaahi feilaulauʻanga, pea tāmateʻi hoʻo kau palōfita ʻaki ʻae heletā; pea ko au, ʻio, ko au tokotaha pe ʻoku kei toe; pea ʻoku nau kumi ʻa ʻeku moʻui, ke toʻo atu ia.”
15 YHWH said to him, "Go, return on your way, and you will come to the way of the wilderness of Damascus, and when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Aram.
Pea naʻe pehē ʻe Sihova kiate ia, “Ke ke ʻalu, toe foki atu ʻi ho hala ki he toafa ʻo Tamasikusi; pea ʻoka ke ka hoko ange, tākai ʻaki ʻae lolo ʻa Hasaeli ke ne tuʻi ʻi Silia:
16 You shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel; and you shall anoint Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel Meholah to be prophet in your place.
Pea ko Sehu ko e foha ʻo Nimisi te ke tākai ʻaki ʻae lolo ke ne tuʻi ʻi ʻIsileli: pea ko ʻIlaisa ko e foha ʻo Safati mei ʻEpeli-Mihola, te ke tākai ʻaki ʻae lolo ke hoko ko e palōfita ke ne fetongi koe.
17 It shall happen, that he who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ‘Ko ia ia ʻe hao moʻui mei he heletā ʻa Hasaeli ʻe tāmateʻi ia ʻe Sehu: pea ko ia ʻe hao moʻui mei he heletā ʻa Sehu ʻe tāmateʻi ʻe ʻIlaisa.’
18 Yet I have kept for myself seven thousand people in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him."
Ka te u tuku ha toko fitu afe ʻapē kuo ʻikai mapelu kia Peali, pea mo e ngutu kotoa pē kuo ʻikai ʻuma kiate ia.”
19 So he departed there, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing, with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed over to him, and cast his cloak on him.
Ko ia naʻe ʻalu ia mei he potu ko ia, mo ne maʻu atu ʻa ʻIlaisa ko e foha ʻo Safati, lolotonga ʻa ʻene keli ngoue ʻaki ʻae tauluaʻi [pulu ]ʻe hongofulu ma ua ʻi hono ʻao, ka naʻe tuʻu ia mo ia ki mui: pea naʻe ʻalu ange ʻa ʻIlaisiā ʻi hono tafaʻaki ʻo ne lī atu ʻa hono pulupulu kiate ia.
20 He left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, "Let me please kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you." He said to him, "Go back again; for what have I done to you?"
Pea naʻa ne pehēange kiate ia, “Toe foki atu pe: he ko e hā ha meʻa kuo u fai kiate koe?”
21 He returned from following him, and took the yoke of oxen, and killed them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and served him.
Pea naʻa ne toe foki atu meiate ia, mo ne ʻave ʻae tauluaʻi pulu, mo ne tāmateʻi ia, pea naʻa ne haka hona kakano ʻaki ʻae nāunau ʻoe fanga pulu, pea naʻa ne ʻatu ki he kakai ke nau kai. Pea hili ia naʻa ne tuʻu hake, mo ne muimui kia ʻIlaisiā, ʻo ne tauhi kiate ia.
