1 John 3
1 See what kind of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God; and we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know him.
我等が神の子等と稱せられ、且然あらん為に父の我等に賜ひし愛の如何なるかを看よ。世の我等を知らざるは、彼を知り奉らざるが故なり。
2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. We know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is.
至愛なる者よ、我等は今實に神の子等たり、然れど其如何に成るべきかは未顕れず、我等は其顕れん時、我等が神に似奉るべきを知れり、其は之を有の儘に見奉るべければなり。
3 Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
総て此希望を有する人は、尚彼も潔く在すが如く、己を潔からしむ。
4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
総て罪を犯す人は律法を犯す、即ち罪は律法を犯す事なり。
5 You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him is no sin.
又イエズスの顕れ給ひしは我等の罪を除かん為にして、彼に聊の罪なき事は汝等の知る所なり。
6 Whoever remains in him does not sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him, neither knows him.
総て彼に止る者は罪を犯さず、総て罪を犯す人は彼を見奉りし事なく彼を識り奉る事なし。
7 Children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
小子よ、誰にも惑はさるる事勿れ、義を為す者は義人なり、猶彼が義人にて在すがごとし。
8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.
罪を為す者は惡魔よりの者なり、其は惡魔は初より罪を為す者なればなり。神の御子の顕れ給ひしは、惡魔の業を亡ぼし給はん為なり。
9 Whoever is born of God does not commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
総て神によりて生れ奉りし人は罪を為さず、其は御種之に存すればなり。又罪を為す能はず、其は神によりて生れ奉りたればなり。
10 In this the children of God are revealed, and the children of the devil. Whoever does not do righteousness is not of God, neither is he who does not love his brother.
神の子等と惡魔の子等とは、是に於て乎明に顕る、即ち総て義を為さざる人は神よりの者に非ず、兄弟を愛せざる人も亦然り、
11 For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;
其は互に相愛せよとは汝等が初より聞きし告なればなり。
12 unlike Cain, who was of the evil one, and killed his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
カインの如く為すべからず、彼は惡しきものより[の人]にして弟を絞殺ししが、之を絞殺ししは何故ぞ、己が業は惡くして弟の業は正しかりし故なり。
13 Therefore do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
兄弟等よ、世の汝等を憎むを怪しむ事勿れ、
14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love remains in death.
我等は兄弟を愛するによりて死より生命に移されたるを知れり、愛せざる人は死に止る。
15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him. (aiōnios g166)
総て己が兄弟を憎む人は人殺者なり、総て人殺者は永遠の生命の其身に止る事なきは汝等の知る所なり。 (aiōnios g166)
16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
我等が愛を覚りたるは、キリストが我等の為に生命を棄て給ひしを以てなり、我等も亦兄弟の為に生命を棄つべし。
17 But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him?
此世の財産を有てるもの、兄弟の窮乏せるを見つつ、之に己が腸を閉ぢなば、争でか神に對する愛の之に止る事を得んや。
18 Little children, let us not love in word only, neither with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
我小子よ、我等は言と舌とを以て愛すべからず、行と眞とを以てすべし。
19 And by this we will know that we are of the truth, and persuade our heart before him,
之を以て我等が自ら眞理によれる事を知る、又御前に於て我心を勧めん、
20 because if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
蓋我等の心我等を咎むるも、神は我等の心より偉大に在して萬事を知り給ふなり。
21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
至愛なる者よ、若我等の心我等を咎めずば、神の御前に於て憚る所なし、
22 and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
又何事を願ふも之を賜はるなり、其は神の掟を守りて御意に適ふことを行へばなり。
23 This is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, even as he commanded us.
斯て其掟は、即ち御子イエズス、キリストの御名を信じ奉り、且其我等に命じ給ひし如く互に相愛すべき事是なり。
24 He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.
神の掟を守る人は神に止り奉り、神も亦是に止り給ふ。我等が神の我等に止り給ふ事を知るは、其我等に賜ひし[聖]霊によりてなり。
