1 Of the sons of Issachar: Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four.

2 The sons of Tola: Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Ibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their fathers' houses of Tola; mighty men of valor in their generations: their number in the days of David was twenty-two thousand six hundred.
The sons of Tola: Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Samuel—leaders of their families. In the time of David, the descendants of Tola listed in their genealogy a total of 22,600 warriors.
3 The sons of Uzzi: Izrahiah. The sons of Izrahiah: Michael, and Obadiah, and Joel, and Isshiah. All five of them leaders.

4 With them, by their generations, after their fathers' houses, were bands of the army for war, thirty-six thousand; for they had many wives and sons.
They had many wives and sons and so in their genealogy they list 36,000 battle-ready fighting men.
5 Their brothers among all the families of Issachar, mighty men of valor, reckoned in all by genealogy, were eighty-seven thousand.
The relatives who were warriors belonging to all the families of Issachar, according to their genealogy, were 87,000 in total.
6 The sons of Benjamin: Bela, and Beker, and Jediael, three.

7 The sons of Bela: Ezbon, and Uzzi, and Uzziel, and Jerimoth, and Iri, five; heads of ancestral houses, mighty men of valor; and they were reckoned by genealogy twenty-two thousand thirty-four.
The sons of Bela: Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri, leaders of their families—a total of five. They had 22,034 fighting men according to their genealogy.
8 The sons of Beker: Zemirah, and Joash, and Eliezer, and Elioenai, and Omri, and Jeremoth, and Abijah, and Anathoth, and Alemeth. All these were the sons of Beker.

9 They were reckoned by genealogy, after their generations, heads of their fathers' houses, mighty men of valor, twenty thousand two hundred.
Their genealogy included the family heads and 20,200 fighting men.
10 The sons of Jediael: Bilhan. The sons of Bilhan: Jeush, and Benjamin, and Ehud, and Kenaanah, and Zethan, and Tarshish, and Ahishahar.

11 All these were sons of Jediael, heads of their fathers' houses, mighty men of valor, seventeen thousand and two hundred, who were able to go forth in the army for war.
All these sons of Jediael were family heads. They had 17,200 battle-ready warriors.
12 And Shuppim and Huppim were the sons of Ir, Hushim the son of Aher.
Shuppim and Huppim were sons of Ir, and Hushim was the son of Aher.
13 The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem, the sons of Bilhah.

14 The sons of Manasseh: Asriel, whom his Aramean secondary wife bore; she bore Makir the father of Gilead.
The sons of Manasseh: Asriel whose mother was his Aramean concubine. She was also the mother of Makir, the father of Gilead.
15 And Makir took a wife of Huppim and Shuppim, whose sister's name was Maacah; and the name of the second was Zelophehad: and Zelophehad had daughters.
Makir found a wife for Huppim and a wife for Shuppim. His sister's name was Maacah. The second was called Zelophehad. She only had daughters.
16 Maacah the wife of Makir bore a son, and she named him Parash; and the name of his brother was Sheresh; and his sons were Ulam and Rekem.
Maacah, Makir's wife, had a son and called him Peresh. His brother was called Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.
17 The son of Ulam: Bedan. These were the sons of Gilead the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh.

18 His sister Hammoleketh bore Ishhod, and Abiezer, and Mahlah.
His sister Hammoleketh was the mother of Ishhod, Abiezer, and Mahlah.
19 The sons of Shemida were Ahian, and Shechem, and Likhi, and Aniam.
The sons of Shemida were: Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.
20 The sons of Ephraim: Shuthelah, and Bered his son, and Tahath his son, and Eleadah his son, and Tahath his son,

21 and Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son, and Ezer, and Elead, whom the men of Gath who were born in the land killed, because they came down to take away their livestock.
Zabad his son, and Shuthelah his son. Ezer and Elead were killed by the men who were living in Gath when they went there to try and steal their livestock.
22 Ephraim their father mourned many days, and his brothers came to comfort him.
Their father Ephraim mourned for them a long time, and his relatives came to comfort him.
23 He went in to his wife, and she conceived, and bore a son, and he named him Beriah, because tragedy had come to his house.
Then he slept with his wife again. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, whom he named him Beriah because of this family tragedy.
24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon, and Uzzen Sheerah.
Sheerah, his daughter, founded Lower and Upper Beth Horon together with Uzzen Sheerah.
25 Rephah was his son, and Resheph his son, and Telah his son, and Tahan his son,

28 Their possessions and habitations were Bethel and its towns, and eastward Naaran, and westward Gezer, with its towns; Shechem also and its towns, to Aiah and its towns;
The land they owned and the places they lived included Bethel and nearby towns, from Naaran to the east to Gezer and its towns to the west, and Shechem and its towns up to Ayyah and its towns.
29 and by the borders of the people of Manasseh, Beth Shean and its towns, Taanach and its towns, Ibleam and its towns, Megiddo and its towns, Dor and its towns. In these lived the people of Joseph the son of Israel.
On the border with Manasseh were Beth Shan, Taanach, Megiddo, and Dor, along with their towns. These were the towns where the descendants of Joseph son of Israel lived.
30 The sons of Asher: Jimnah, and Jishvah, and Jishvi, and Beriah, and Serah their sister.

31 The sons of Beriah: Heber, and Malkiel, who was the father of Birzaith.

32 Heber became the father of Japhlet, and Shemer, and Helem, and Shua their sister.
Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer, and Hotham, and of their sister Shua.
33 The sons of Japhlet: Pasach, and Bimhal, and Ashvath. These are the sons of Japhlet.

36 The sons of Zophah: Suah, and Harnepher, and Shual. And the sons of Imna:

37 Bezer, and Hod, and Shamma, and Shilshah, and Jether, and Beera.

38 The sons of Jether: Jephunneh, and Pispa, and Ara.

39 The sons of Ulla: Arah, and Hanniel, and Rizia.

40 All these were the people of Asher, heads of ancestral houses, choice and mighty men of valor, chief of the princes. The number of them reckoned by genealogy for service in war was twenty-six thousand men.
These were all descendants of Asher—family heads, proven men, strong warriors, and great leaders. According to their genealogy, they had 26,000 battle-ready warriors.
