Zechariah 8

1 The word of the LORD of hosts came to me.

La parole de Yahweh des armées se fit entendre en ces termes:

2 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath."

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Je suis animé pour Sion d'un grand zèle; je suis animé pour elle d'une grande fureur.

3 Thus says the LORD: "I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem shall be called 'The City of Truth;' and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, 'The Holy Mountain.'"

Ainsi parle Yahweh: Je suis revenu à Sion et je veux habiter au milieu de Jérusalem; Jérusalem sera appelée la ville de vérité, et la montagne de Yahweh des armées, montagne de sainteté.

4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Old men and old women will again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Il y aura de nouveau des vieillards et des femmes âgées assis sur les places de Jérusalem, chacun son bâton à la main, à cause du grand nombre de leurs jours.

5 The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing in its streets."

Les places de la ville seront remplies de jeunes garçons et de jeunes filles jouant sur ses places.

6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?" says the LORD of hosts.

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Si cela paraît merveilleux aux yeux du reste de ce peuple, en ces jours-là, cela sera-t-il merveilleux aussi à mes yeux, — oracle de Yahweh des armées?

7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Look, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Voici que je vais délivrer mon peuple du pays de l'orient et du pays du soleil couchant.

8 and I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness."

Je les amènerai et ils habiteront au milieu de Jérusalem; ils seront mon peuple, et moi je serai leur Dieu, avec vérité et justice.

9 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets who were in the day that the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Que vos mains se fortifient, vous qui entendez en ces jours ces paroles de la bouche des prophètes qui ont parlé au jour où fut fondée la maison de Yahweh des armées, pour que le temple soit rebâti.

10 For before those days there was no wages for man, nor any wages for an animal; neither was there any peace to him who went out or came in, because of the adversary. For I set all men everyone against his neighbor.

Car, avant ces jours-là, il n'y avait point de salaire pour les hommes, point de salaire pour le bétail, point de sûreté contre l'ennemi pour ceux qui sortaient et entraient, et j'avais lâché tous les hommes les uns contre les autres.

11 But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days," says the LORD of hosts.

Mais maintenant, je ne suis plus, moi, à l'égard du reste de ce peuple comme aux jours d'autrefois, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.

12 "For the seed of peace and the vine will yield its fruit, and the ground will give its increase, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

Car la semence prospérera, la vigne donnera son fruit, la terre donnera ses produits, les cieux donneront leur rosée, et je mettrai le reste de ce peuple en possession de toutes ces choses.

13 It shall come to pass that, as you were a curse among the nations, house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not be afraid. Let your hands be strong."

Et il arrivera: comme vous avez été malédiction parmi les nations, maison de Juda et maison d'Israël, ainsi je vous délivrerai, et vous serez bénédiction! Ne craignez point, que vos mains se fortifient!

14 For thus says the LORD of hosts: "As I thought to do evil to you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath," says the LORD of hosts, "and I did not repent;

Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Comme J'ai eu le dessein de vous faire du mal lorsque vos pères provoquaient ma colère, dit Yahweh des armées, et que je ne m'en suis pas repenti,

15 so again have I thought in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not be afraid.

ainsi j'ai en ces jours-ci, au contraire, le dessein de faire du bien à Jérusalem et à la maison de Juda; ne craignez point!

16 These are the things that you shall do: speak every man the truth with his neighbor. Execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates,

Voici les paroles que vous observerez: Dites la vérité, chacun à votre prochain; rendez la justice dans vos portes selon la vérité et pour la paix;

17 and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor, and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate," says the LORD.

ne méditez pas dans vos cœurs le mal les uns des autres; et n'aimez pas le faux serment; car ce sont là toutes choses que je hais, — oracle de Yahweh.

18 The word of the LORD of hosts came to me.

La parole de Yahweh des armées me fut adressée en ces termes:

19 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The fasts of the fourth fifth, seventh, and tenth months shall be for the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace."

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Le jeûne du quatrième mois, le jeûne du cinquième, le jeune du septième et le jeûne du dixième mois seront changés pour la maison de Juda en réjouissance et en allégresse, et en solennités joyeuses.

20 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Many peoples and the inhabitants of many cities will yet come;

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Il viendra encore des peuples et des habitants d'un grand nombre de villes.

21 and the inhabitants of one shall go to another, saying, 'Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts. I will go also.'

Les habitants de l'une iront à l'autre, en disant: " Allons, allons implorer Yahweh et chercher Yahweh des armées! " — " Moi aussi, je veux aller! "

22 Yes, many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the LORD."

Des peuples nombreux et de puissantes nations viendront chercher Yahweh des armées à Jérusalem et implorer Yahweh.

23 Thus says the LORD of hosts: "In those days, ten men will take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they will take hold of the skirt of him who is a Jew, saying, 'We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"

Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: En ces jours-là, dix hommes de toutes les langues des nations saisiront, oui, saisiront le pan de la robe d'un Juif en disant: Nous voulons aller aussi avec vous, car nous avons appris que Dieu est avec vous. "
