< Psalms 86 >
1 [A Prayer by David.] Hear, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
A Prayer of David. Bow down thy ear, O LORD, hear me: for I [am] poor and needy.
2 Preserve my soul, for I am godly. You, my God, save your servant who trusts in you.
Preserve my soul; for I [am] holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.
3 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I call to you all day long.
Be merciful to me, O LORD: for I cry to thee daily.
4 Bring joy to the soul of your servant, for to you, LORD, do I lift up my soul.
Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for to thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.
5 For you, LORD, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
For thou, LORD, [art] good, and ready to forgive; and abundant in mercy to all them that call upon thee.
6 Hear, LORD, my prayer. Listen to the voice of my petitions.
Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call on you, for you will answer me.
In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
8 There is no one like you among the gods, LORD, nor any deeds like your deeds.
Among the gods [there is] none like thee, O LORD; neither [are there any works] like thy works.
9 All nations you have made will come and worship before you, LORD. They shall glorify your name.
All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O LORD; and shall glorify thy name.
10 For you are great, and do wondrous things. You are God alone.
For thou [art] great, and doest wondrous things: thou [art] God alone.
11 Teach me your way, LORD. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with my whole heart. I will glorify your name forevermore.
I will praise thee, O LORD my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.
13 For your loving kindness is great toward me. You have delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol. (Sheol )
For great [is] thy mercy towards me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. (Sheol )
14 God, the proud have risen up against me. A company of violent men have sought after my soul, and they do not hold regard for you before them.
O God, the proud have risen against me, and the assemblies of violent [men] have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.
15 But you, LORD, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth.
But thou, O LORD, [art] a God full of compassion, and gracious; long-suffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.
16 Turn to me, and have mercy on me. Give your strength to your servant. Save the son of your handmaid.
O turn to me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength to thy servant, and save the son of thy handmaid.
17 Show me a sign of your goodness, that those who hate me may see it, and be shamed, because you, LORD, have helped me, and comforted me.
Show me a token for good; that they who hate me may see [it], and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast helped me, and comforted me.
