< Psalms 16 >
1 [A Poem by David.] Preserve me, God, for in you do I take refuge.
tituli inscriptio ipsi David conserva me Domine quoniam in te speravi
2 I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing."
dixi Domino Dominus meus es tu quoniam bonorum meorum non eges
3 As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.
sanctis qui sunt in terra eius mirificavit mihi; omnes voluntates meas in eis
4 Their sorrows will multiply who pay a dowry for another. Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, nor take their names on my lips.
multiplicatae sunt infirmitates eorum postea adceleraverunt non congregabo conventicula eorum de sanguinibus nec memor ero nominum eorum per labia mea
5 The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You made my lot secure.
Dominus pars hereditatis meae et calicis mei tu es qui restitues hereditatem meam mihi
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Yes, beautiful is my inheritance.
funes ceciderunt mihi in praeclaris etenim hereditas mea praeclara est mihi
7 I will bless the LORD, who has given me counsel. Yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
benedicam Domino qui tribuit mihi intellectum insuper et usque ad noctem increpaverunt me renes mei
8 I have put the LORD before me at all times. Because he is at my right hand I will never be upended.
providebam Dominum in conspectu meo semper quoniam a dextris est mihi ne commovear
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue rejoices. My body shall also dwell in safety.
propter hoc laetatum est cor meum et exultavit lingua mea insuper et caro mea requiescet in spe
10 For you will not abandon my soul in Sheol, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay. (Sheol )
quoniam non derelinques animam meam in inferno non dabis sanctum tuum videre corruptionem (Sheol )
11 You make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
notas mihi fecisti vias vitae adimplebis me laetitia cum vultu tuo delectatio in dextera tua usque in finem
