< Psalms 138 >
1 [By David.] I will give you thanks, LORD, with my whole heart. Before the gods I will sing praises to you.
A Psalm of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to thee.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple, and give thanks to your Name for your loving kindness and for your truth; for you have exalted your Name and your word above all.
I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
3 In the day that I called, you answered me. You encouraged me with strength in my soul.
In the day when I cried thou didst answer me, and strengthen me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth will give you thanks, LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth.
All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.
5 Yes, they will sing of the ways of the LORD; for great is the LORD's glory.
Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the LORD.
6 For though the LORD is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but the proud, he knows from afar.
Though the LORD is high, yet hath he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me. You will stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies. Your right hand will save me.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The LORD will fulfill that which concerns me; your loving kindness, LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the works of your own hands.
The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thy own hands.
