< Proverbs 22 >

1 A good name is more desirable than great riches, and loving favor is better than silver and gold.
Yíyan orúkọ rere sàn ju púpọ̀ ọrọ̀ lọ, àti ojúrere dára ju fàdákà àti wúrà lọ.
2 The rich and the poor have this in common: The LORD is the maker of them all.
Ọlọ́rọ̀ àti tálákà péjọpọ̀: Olúwa ni ẹlẹ́dàá gbogbo wọn.
3 The shrewd see danger and take cover, but the naive keep on going and suffer for it.
Ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn ti rí ibi tẹ́lẹ̀, ó ṣé ara rẹ̀ mọ́: ṣùgbọ́n àwọn òpè tẹ̀síwájú, a sì jẹ wọ́n ní yà.
4 The result of humility and the fear of the LORD is wealth, honor, and life.
Èrè ìrẹ̀lẹ̀ àti ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa ni ọrọ̀ ọlá, àti ìyè.
5 Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked: whoever guards his soul stays from them.
Ègún àti ìdẹ̀kùn ń bẹ ní ọ̀nà aláyídáyidà: ẹni tí ó bá pa ọkàn rẹ̀ mọ́ yóò jìnnà sí wọn.
6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Tọ́ ọmọdé ní ọ̀nà tí yóò tọ̀: nígbà tí ó bá dàgbà, kì yóò kúrò nínú rẹ̀.
7 The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender.
Ọlọ́rọ̀ ṣe olórí olùpọ́njú, ajigbèsè sì ṣe ìránṣẹ́ fún ẹni tí a jẹ ní gbèsè.
8 He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will fail. God blesses a cheerful and generous person, but the vanity of his deeds he will bring to an end.
Ẹni tí ó bá fúnrúgbìn ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, yóò ká asán: ọ̀pá ìbínú rẹ̀ yóò kùnà.
9 He who has a generous eye will be blessed; for he shares his food with the poor.
Ẹni tí ó ní ojú àánú ni a ó bùkún fún; nítorí tí ó fi nínú oúnjẹ rẹ̀ fún olùpọ́njú.
10 Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out; yes, quarrels and insults will stop.
Lé ẹlẹ́gàn sí ìta, ìjà yóò sì jáde; nítòótọ́ ìjà àti ẹ̀gàn yóò dẹ́kun.
11 He who loves purity of heart and speaks gracefully is the king's friend.
Ẹni tí ó fẹ́ ìwà funfun ti àyà, tí ó sì ń sọ̀rọ̀ iyì jáde, ọba yóò ṣe ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ̀.
12 The eyes of the LORD watch over knowledge; but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
Ojú Olúwa pa ìmọ̀ mọ́, ó sì yí ọ̀rọ̀ olùrékọjá pò.
13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside. I will be killed in the streets."
Ọ̀lẹ wí pé, “Kìnnìún ń bẹ lóde! Yóò pa mí ní ìgboro!”
14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit: he who is under the LORD's wrath will fall into it.
Ẹnu àwọn àjèjì obìnrin, ihò jíjìn ni; ẹni tí a ń bínú sí láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa wá ni yóò ṣubú sínú rẹ̀.
15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child: the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
Àyà ọmọdé ni ìwà wèrè dì sí; ṣùgbọ́n pàṣán ìtọ́ni ni yóò lé e jìnnà kúrò lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀.
16 Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich, both come to poverty.
Ẹni tó ń ni tálákà lára láti ní ọrọ̀, tí ó sì ń ta ọlọ́rọ̀ lọ́rẹ, yóò di aláìní bí ó ti wù kó rí. Gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ ọlọ́gbọ́n ènìyàn.
17 The words of the wise: Incline your ear and hear my words, and apply your heart to my instruction.
Dẹtí rẹ sílẹ̀, kí o gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n, kí o sì fi àyà rẹ sí ẹ̀kọ́ mi.
18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips.
Nítorí ohun dídùn ni bí ìwọ bá pa wọ́n mọ́ ní inú rẹ; nígbà tí a sì pèsè wọn tán ní ètè rẹ.
19 That your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you.
Kí ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé rẹ lè wà ní ti Olúwa, èmi fihàn ọ́ lónìí, àní fún ọ.
20 Haven't I written to you thirty excellent things of counsel and knowledge,
Èmi kò ha ti kọ̀wé ohun dáradára sí ọ ní ti ìmọ̀ràn àti ní ti ẹ̀kọ́,
21 To teach you truth, reliable words, to give sound answers to the ones who sent you?
kí ó lè mú ọ mọ ìdájú ọ̀rọ̀ òtítọ́; kí ìwọ le máa fi ìdáhùn òtítọ́ fún àwọn tí ó rán ọ?
22 Do not exploit the poor, because he is poor; and do not crush the needy in court;
Má ṣe ja tálákà ní olè, nítorí tí ó jẹ́ tálákà: bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí o má sì ṣe ni olùpọ́njú lára ní ibodè,
23 for the LORD will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them.
nítorí Olúwa yóò gbèjà wọn, yóò sì gba ọkàn àwọn tí ń gba tiwọn náà.
24 Do not befriend a hot-tempered man, and do not associate with one who harbors anger:
Má ṣe bá oníbìínú ènìyàn ṣe ọ̀rẹ́; má sì ṣe bá ọkùnrin onínú-fùfù rìn.
25 lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul.
Kí ìwọ má ba à kọ́ ìwà rẹ̀, ìwọ a sì gba ìkẹ́kùn fún ara rẹ.
26 Do not be one of those who strike hands, of those who are collateral for debts.
Má ṣe wà nínú àwọn tí ń ṣe ìgbọ̀nwọ́, tàbí nínú àwọn tí ó dúró fún gbèsè.
27 If you do not have means to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?
Bí ìwọ kò bá ní nǹkan tí ìwọ ó fi san, nítorí kín ni yóò ṣe gba ẹni rẹ kúrò lábẹ́ rẹ?
28 Do not move the ancient boundary stone, which your fathers have set up.
Má ṣe yẹ ààlà ilẹ̀ ìgbàanì, tí àwọn baba rẹ ti pa.
29 Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won't serve obscure men.
Ìwọ ha rí ènìyàn tí ó ń fi àìṣe ìmẹ́lẹ́ ṣe iṣẹ́ rẹ̀? Òun yóò dúró níwájú àwọn ọba; òun kì yóò dúró níwájú àwọn ènìyàn lásán.
