< Proverbs 21 >

1 The king's heart is in the LORD's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.
Yaadni mootii akkuma yaaʼaa bishaanii harka Waaqayyoo keessa jira; innis garuma fedhetti qajeelcha.
2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts.
Karaan namaa hundinuu ija ofii isaa duratti qajeelaa itti fakkaata; Waaqayyo garuu yaada namaa madaala.
3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
Fuula Waaqayyoo duratti aarsaa caalaa, waan qajeelaa fi sirrii taʼe hojjechuutu fudhatama qaba.
4 A high look, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.
Iji of jajuu fi garaan of tuuluu maasii hamootaa kan hin qotaminii dha; innis cubbuu dhala.
5 The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.
Karoorri nama tattaaffatuu buʼaa argamsiisa; namni ariifatu garuu ni hiyyooma.
6 Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.
Qabeenyi arraba sobuun argamu, urrii bittinnaaʼee baduu fi kiyyoo duʼaa ti.
7 The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.
Sababii isaan waan qajeelaa hojjechuu didaniif, fincilli hamootaa isaanuma balleessa.
8 The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.
Karaan nama balleessaa qabuu jalʼaa dha; amalli nama qulqulluu garuu qajeelaa dha.
9 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman.
Niitii nyakkiftuu wajjin mana tokko keessa jiraachuu mannaa, golee bantii manaa irra jiraachuu wayya.
10 The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.
Namni hamaan jalʼina dharraʼa; ollaan isaa gara laafina tokko iyyuu isa irraa hin argatu.
11 When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
Yeroo namni qoosu tokko adabamutti, wallaalaan ogummaa argata; namni ogeessi yeroo gorfamutti beekumsa argata.
12 The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.
Namni qajeelaan mana hamootaa qalbeeffatee ilaala; hamootas ni balleessa.
13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.
Namni tokko yoo iyya hiyyeessaatiif gurra kennuu dide, innis ni iyya; deebiis hin argatu.
14 A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.
Wanni dhoksaadhaan namaaf kennan aarii qabbaneessa; mattaʼaan harka bobaa jalaatiin kennanis dheekkamsa guddaa gab godha.
15 It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to evildoers.
Murtii qajeelaa kennuun qajeeltotaaf gammachuu kenna; hamootatti immoo raafama fida.
16 The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead.
Namni karaa hubannaa irraa badu kam iyyuu waldaa warra duʼaniitti dabalama.
17 He who loves pleasure shall be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil shall not be rich.
Namni qananii jaallatu ni deega; kan daadhii wayiniitii fi zayitii jaallatu immoo hin sooromu.
18 The wicked is a ransom for the righteous; the treacherous for the upright.
Namni hamaan nama qajeelaadhaaf, kan hin amanamne immoo nama tolaadhaaf furii taʼa.
19 It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.
Niitii nyakkiftuu fi kan daftee aartu wajjin jiraachuu mannaa, gammoojjii keessa jiraachuu wayya.
20 There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man swallows it up.
Mana nama ogeessaa keessa qabeenya gatii guddaatii fi zayitiitu jira; gowwaan garuu waan qabu hunda nyaatee fixa.
21 He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.
Namni qajeelummaa fi jaalala duukaa buʼu, jireenya, badhaadhummaa fi ulfina argata.
22 A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.
Namni ogeessi magaalaa nama jabaatti baʼee daʼoo jabaa inni amanatu jalaa diiga.
23 Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.
Namni afaan isaatii fi arraba isaa eeggatu, balaa irraa of eega.
24 The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; he works in the arrogance of pride.
Nama of jajuu fi of tuulu maqaan isaa, “Qoostuu dha;” inni akka malee koora.
25 The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.
Sababii harki isaa hojii hojjechuu hin jaallanneef, hawwiin nama dhibaaʼaa duʼa isatti fida.
26 There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and do not withhold.
Inni guyyaa guutuu kajeela; namni qajeelaan garuu utuu hin qusatin kenna.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination: how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind.
Aarsaan nama hamaa balfamaa dha; yoos yoo inni yaada hamaadhaan dhiʼeesse hammam sana caalaa haa balfamu ree!
28 A false witness will perish, and a man who listens speaks to eternity.
Dhuga baatuun sobaa ni bada; namni isa dhagaʼu kam iyyuus bara baraan bada.
29 A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.
Namni hamaan ija jabaata; namni tolaan garuu karaa isaa qajeelfata.
30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
Ogummaan, hubannaanii fi karoorri Waaqayyoon mormee milkaaʼuu hin jiru.
31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with the LORD.
Fardi guyyaa waraanaatiif qopheeffama; moʼichi garuu kan Waaqayyoo ti.
