< Proverbs 15 >
1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Ìdáhùn pẹ̀lẹ́ yí ìbínú padà ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ líle máa ń ru ìbínú sókè.
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.
Ahọ́n ọlọ́gbọ́n a máa gbé ìmọ̀ jáde ṣùgbọ́n ẹnu aláìgbọ́n ń tú ọ̀rọ̀ ọ òmùgọ̀ jáde.
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Ojú Olúwa wà níbi gbogbo, Ó ń wo àwọn ẹni búburú àti àwọn ẹni rere.
4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
Ahọ́n tí ń mú ìtura wá jẹ́ igi ìyè ṣùgbọ́n ahọ́n ẹ̀tàn ń pa ẹ̀mí run.
5 A fool despises his father's correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
Aláìgbọ́n ọmọ kọ ìbáwí baba rẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó gbọ́ ìbáwí jẹ́ ọlọ́gbọ́n.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
Ilé olódodo kún fún ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ ohun ìṣúra, ṣùgbọ́n èrè àwọn ènìyàn búburú ń mú ìyọnu wá fún wọn.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
Ètè olódodo ń tan ìmọ̀ kalẹ̀; ṣùgbọ́n kò rí bẹ́ẹ̀ fún ọkàn aláìgbọ́n.
8 The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Olúwa kórìíra ìrúbọ àwọn ènìyàn búburú ṣùgbọ́n àdúrà olódodo tẹ́ ẹ lọ́rùn.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
Olúwa kórìíra ọ̀nà àwọn ènìyàn búburú, ṣùgbọ́n ó fẹ́ràn àwọn tí ń lépa òdodo.
10 There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way: whoever hates reproof shall die.
Ẹni tí ó kúrò lójú ọ̀nà yóò rí ìbáwí gan an, ẹni tí ó kórìíra ìbáwí yóò kú.
11 Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD—how much more then the hearts of human beings. (Sheol )
Ikú àti ìparun ṣí sílẹ̀ níwájú Olúwa, mélòó mélòó ní nínú ọkàn àwọn ènìyàn. (Sheol )
12 A scoffer doesn't love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
Ẹlẹ́gàn kò fẹ́ ẹni tí ń ba wí: kò ní gbàmọ̀ràn lọ́dọ̀ ọlọ́gbọ́n.
13 A glad heart makes a cheerful face; but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
Inú dídùn máa ń mú kí ojú túká ṣùgbọ́n ìbànújẹ́ ọkàn máa ń pa ẹ̀mí run.
14 The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
Ọkàn olóye ń wá ìmọ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ẹnu aláìgbọ́n ń fẹ́ ìwà òmùgọ̀ bí ẹní jẹun.
15 All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
Gbogbo ọjọ́ àwọn olùpọ́njú jẹ́ ibi, ṣùgbọ́n onínúdídùn ń jẹ àlàáfíà ní ìgbà gbogbo.
16 Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.
Ó sàn kí ó má pọ̀, kí ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa sì wà ju ọrọ̀ púpọ̀ pẹ̀lú ìyọnu.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
Oúnjẹ ewébẹ̀ níbi tí ìfẹ́ wà sàn ju àbọ́pa màlúù tòun ti ìríra.
18 A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
Ènìyàn onínú ríru dá ìjà sílẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n onísùúrù paná ìjà.
19 The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
Ọ̀nà ọ̀lẹ ni ẹ̀gún dí, ṣùgbọ́n ọ̀nà olódodo já geerege ni.
20 A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
Ọlọ́gbọ́n ọmọ mú inú baba rẹ̀ dùn, ṣùgbọ́n aṣiwèrè ènìyàn kẹ́gàn ìyá rẹ̀.
21 Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
Inú ènìyàn aláìlóye a máa dùn sí ìwà òmùgọ̀; ṣùgbọ́n olóye ènìyàn a máa rin ọ̀nà tààrà.
22 Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
Ìgbèrò a máa dasán níbi tí kò sí ìmọ̀ràn; ṣùgbọ́n a máa yege níbi tí ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ olùbádámọ̀ràn wà.
23 Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time.
Inú ènìyàn a máa dùn nígbà tí ó bá fèsì tó yẹ ọ̀rọ̀ tí ó bá sì wá lásìkò tó yẹ dára púpọ̀!
24 The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol. (Sheol )
Ọ̀nà ìyè ń lọ sókè fún ọlọ́gbọ́n láti sọ kí ó má bá à sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí ipò òkú. (Sheol )
25 The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow's borders intact.
Olúwa fa ilé onígbèéraga ya lulẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ó pa ààlà opó onírẹ̀lẹ̀ mọ́ láìyẹ̀.
26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
Olúwa kórìíra èrò ènìyàn búburú, ṣùgbọ́n mímọ́ ni ọ̀rọ̀ ẹni pípé.
27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
Ọ̀kánjúwà ènìyàn mú ìyọnu bá ilé rẹ̀ ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó kórìíra àbẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ yóò yè.
28 The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
Ọkàn olódodo ń wọn ìdáhùn wò ṣùgbọ́n ẹnu ènìyàn búburú ń tú ibi jáde.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
Olúwa jìnnà sí ènìyàn búburú ṣùgbọ́n ó ń gbọ́ àdúrà olódodo.
30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
Ojú tó túká máa ń mú ayọ̀ wá fún ọkàn, ìròyìn ayọ̀ sì ń mú ìlera wá sínú egungun.
31 The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.
Ẹni tí ó fetí sí ìbáwí tí ń fún ni ní ìyè, yóò wà ní àpéjọpọ̀ àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n.
32 He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
Ẹni tí ó kọ̀ ìbáwí kẹ́gàn ara rẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó gbọ́ ìbáwí yóò ní ìmọ̀ sí i.
33 The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
Ìbẹ̀rù Olúwa kọ́ ènìyàn ní ọgbọ́n, ìrẹ̀lẹ̀ sì ni ó máa ń ṣáájú ọlá.
