Matthew 27
1 Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
അതിരാവിലെ എല്ലാ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും ചേർന്ന് യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കേണം എന്നു പദ്ധതിയിട്ട്,
2 and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him to Pilate, the governor.
അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ബന്ധിച്ച് അവിടെനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുപോയി റോമൻ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ പീലാത്തോസിന് കൈമാറി.
3 Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് വിധിച്ചു എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്ത യൂദാ അറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ അതിദുഃഖിതനായിത്തീർന്നു. അയാൾ ആ മുപ്പത് വെള്ളിനാണയങ്ങൾ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർക്കും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാർക്കും തിരികെ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട്,
4 saying, "I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? You see to it."
“ഞാൻ പാപംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; നിഷ്കളങ്കരക്തത്തെ ഞാൻ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്തല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. “അതിന് ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്തുവേണം? അത് നിന്റെ കാര്യം,” എന്ന് അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
5 He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself.
യൂദാ ആ നാണയങ്ങൾ ദൈവാലയത്തിലേക്കു വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞശേഷം പോയി കെട്ടിത്തൂങ്ങി ആത്മഹത്യചെയ്തു.
6 The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, "It's not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood."
പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാർ ആ നാണയങ്ങൾ പെറുക്കിയെടുത്തുകൊണ്ട്, “ഇത് രക്തത്തിന്റെ വിലയാകുകയാൽ ദൈവാലയഭണ്ഡാരത്തിൽ നിക്ഷേപിക്കുന്നതു നിയമവിരുദ്ധമാണ്” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ്,
7 They took counsel, and bought the potter's field with them, to bury strangers in.
ആ പണംകൊണ്ട് വിദേശികളെ മറവുചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ശ്മശാനത്തിനായി കുശവന്റെ നിലം വാങ്ങാൻ നിശ്ചയിച്ചു.
8 Therefore that field was called "The Field of Blood" to this day.
അതുകൊണ്ട് ആ സ്ഥലം ഇന്നും “രക്തനിലം” എന്നപേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
9 Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, "They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced,
“ഇസ്രായേൽജനം യേശുവിന് നിശ്ചയിച്ച വിലയായ മുപ്പതു വെള്ളിനാണയങ്ങൾ അവർ എടുത്ത്,
10 and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."
കർത്താവ് എന്നോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ കുശവന്റെ നിലം വാങ്ങാൻ അവർ ഉപയോഗിച്ചു” എന്ന് യിരെമ്യാപ്രവാചകൻ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചത് ഇങ്ങനെ നിറവേറി.
11 Now Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus said to him, "You say so."
ഈ സമയം റോമൻ ഭരണാധികാരിയായ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ യേശുവിനെ നിർത്തി. അദ്ദേഹം യേശുവിനോട്, “നീയാണോ യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. അതിന് യേശു, “താങ്കൾ പറയുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
12 When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും യേശുവിന്റെമേൽ കുറ്റങ്ങൾ ആരോപിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അതിനു മറുപടിയായി യാതൊന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
13 Then Pilate said to him, "Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?"
അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ്, “ഇവർ നിനക്കെതിരായി ഇത്രയേറെ ആരോപണങ്ങൾ ഉന്നയിക്കുന്നതൊന്നും നീ കേൾക്കുന്നില്ലേ?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
14 He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor was greatly amazed.
എന്നാൽ യേശു ആ ആരോപണങ്ങൾക്കൊന്നും ഒരു വാക്കുകൊണ്ടുപോലും പ്രത്യുത്തരം പറഞ്ഞില്ല എന്നത് പീലാത്തോസിനെ വളരെയേറെ അത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തി.
15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the crowd one prisoner, whom they desired.
പെസഹാഘോഷവേളയിൽ ജനക്കൂട്ടം തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു തടവുകാരനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുക ഭരണാധികാരിയുടെ പതിവായിരുന്നു.
16 They had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
ആ വർഷം അവിടെ ബറബ്ബാസ് എന്നു പേരുള്ള കുപ്രസിദ്ധനായ ഒരുവൻ തടവിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
17 When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?"
ജനം പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അരമനാങ്കണത്തിൽ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടിയപ്പോൾ, പീലാത്തോസ് അവരോട്, “ബറബ്ബാസിനെയോ ക്രിസ്തുവെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന യേശുവിനെയോ; ഇവരിൽ ആരെയാണ് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങൾക്ക് മോചിപ്പിച്ചുതരേണ്ടത്?” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.
18 For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.
അവർ അസൂയ നിമിത്തമാണ് യേശുവിനെ തന്റെ പക്കൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് വ്യക്തമായിരുന്നു.
19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him."
പീലാത്തോസ് ന്യായാസനത്തിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പത്നി ഒരു സന്ദേശം കൊടുത്തയച്ചു: “നിരപരാധിയായ ആ മനുഷ്യന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഇടപെടരുത്. ഇന്ന് അദ്ദേഹംനിമിത്തം ഞാൻ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ വളരെ അസ്വസ്ഥയായി.”
20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
എന്നാൽ, ബറബ്ബാസിനെ മോചിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും യേശുവിനെ വധശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് ഏൽപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുമായി അപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും ജനക്കൂട്ടത്തെ വശീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു.
21 But the governor answered them, "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" They said, "Barabbas."
“ഈ രണ്ടുപേരിൽ ആരെ മോചിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നതാണ് നിങ്ങളുടെ ആവശ്യം?” ഭരണാധികാരി ചോദിച്ചു. “ബറബ്ബാസിനെ,” അവർ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
22 Pilate said to them, "What then should I do with Jesus, who is called Christ?" They all said, "Let him be crucified."
“അപ്പോൾ, ക്രിസ്തുവെന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന യേശുവിനെ ഞാൻ എന്തു ചെയ്യണം?” പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു. “അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക!” അവർ ഏകസ്വരത്തിൽ പ്രതിവചിച്ചു.
23 But he said, "Why? What evil has he done?" But they shouted all the louder, saying, "Let him be crucified."
“എന്തിന്? അയാൾ എന്തു കുറ്റമാണു ചെയ്തത്?” പീലാത്തോസ് ചോദിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ അവർ അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ, “അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക!” എന്ന് ആക്രോശിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
24 So Pilate, seeing that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, took water and he washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this righteous man. You see to it."
തനിക്കൊരു തീരുമാനമെടുക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നില്ല, മറിച്ച് ഒരു ലഹള പൊട്ടിപ്പുറപ്പെടാൻ പോകുന്നു എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കി, “ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ രക്തം സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഞാൻ നിരപരാധിയാണ്, നിങ്ങളാണ് ഇതിന് ഉത്തരവാദികൾ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് പീലാത്തോസ് വെള്ളം എടുത്ത് ജനക്കൂട്ടം കാൺകെ തന്റെ കൈകഴുകി.
25 All the people answered, "May his blood be on us, and on our children."
“അയാളുടെ രക്തം ഞങ്ങളുടെമേലും ഞങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളുടെമേലും വന്നുകൊള്ളട്ടെ,” അവർ എല്ലാവരുംകൂടി ഉറക്കെ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.
26 Then he released to them Barabbas, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.
അപ്പോൾ പീലാത്തോസ് ബറബ്ബാസിനെ അവർക്കു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു; യേശുവിനെയോ ചമ്മട്ടികൊണ്ട് അടിപ്പിച്ചതിനുശേഷം ക്രൂശിക്കാൻ പട്ടാളത്തെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു.
27 Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him.
ഉടനെതന്നെ പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ സൈനികർ യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ആസ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോയി; തങ്ങളുടെ സഹസൈനികരെയെല്ലാം അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുമുമ്പിൽ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി.
28 They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him.
അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പുറങ്കുപ്പായം വലിച്ചൂരിയശേഷം ഒരു ചെമന്ന പുറങ്കുപ്പായം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു.
29 They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, "Greetings, King of the Jews."
ഒരു മുൾക്കിരീടം മെടഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിൽ വെച്ചു. വലതുകൈയിൽ ഒരു വടി പിടിപ്പിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽവീണ് “യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവ്, നീണാൾ വാഴട്ടെ!” എന്ന് അവർ പരിഹസിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.
30 They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.
അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ തുപ്പുകയും വടി പിടിച്ചുവാങ്ങി തലയിൽ ആ വടികൊണ്ട് അടിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
31 When they had mocked him, they took the robe off of him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.
ഇങ്ങനെ, അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിച്ചുതീർന്നശേഷം പുറങ്കുപ്പായം മാറ്റി, സ്വന്തം വസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ക്രൂശിക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
32 As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross.
അവർ പോകുമ്പോൾ കുറേനഗ്രാമവാസിയായ ശിമോൻ എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ കണ്ടു. യേശുവിന്റെ ക്രൂശ് ചുമക്കാൻ അവർ അയാളെ നിർബന്ധിച്ചു.
33 They came to a place called "Golgotha," that is to say, "The place of a skull."
“തലയോട്ടിയുടെ സ്ഥലം” എന്നർഥമുള്ള “ഗൊൽഗോഥാ” എന്നു വിളിച്ചുവരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് അവർ എത്തി.
34 They gave him wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink.
അവിടെവെച്ച് അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കയ്‌പുകലക്കിയ വീഞ്ഞ് കുടിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തു; അദ്ദേഹം അത് രുചിച്ചു നോക്കിയെങ്കിലും കുടിക്കാൻ താത്പര്യപ്പെട്ടില്ല.
35 When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among themselves, casting a lot, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: 'They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast a lot.'
അവർ യേശുവിനെ ക്രൂശിച്ചതിനുശേഷം, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ നറുക്കിട്ട് വീതിച്ചെടുത്തു.
36 And they sat and watched him there.
അവിടെ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു കാവലിരുന്നു.
37 They set up over his head the accusation against him written, "THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS."
യെഹൂദരുടെ രാജാവായ യേശുവാണ് ഇവൻ, എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമേൽ ചുമത്തപ്പെട്ട കുറ്റം എഴുതി അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ ശിരസ്സിനുമീതേ വെച്ചു.
38 Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left.
അദ്ദേഹത്തോടൊപ്പം രണ്ട് കൊള്ളക്കാരെ, ഒരാളെ വലത്തും മറ്റേയാളെ ഇടത്തുമായി, ക്രൂശിച്ചു.
39 Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads,
ആ വഴി കടന്നുപോയവർ തലകുലുക്കിക്കൊണ്ട്, “ദൈവാലയം തകർത്ത്, മൂന്ന് ദിവസംകൊണ്ട് പണിയുന്നവനേ, നിന്നെത്തന്നെ രക്ഷിക്കുക! നീ ദൈവപുത്രനെങ്കിൽ, ക്രൂശിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവാ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിന്ദിച്ചു.
40 and saying, "You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross."
41 Likewise the chief priests also mocking, with the scribes, and the elders, said,
അങ്ങനെതന്നെ പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും വേദജ്ഞരും സമുദായനേതാക്കന്മാരും ഇതേവിധത്തിൽത്തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പരിഹസിച്ചു.
42 "He saved others, but he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.
അവർ പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇവൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചു, എന്നാൽ, തന്നെത്താൻ രക്ഷിക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവില്ല താനും! ഇവനാണോ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ രാജാവ്! ഇവൻ ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ക്രൂശിൽനിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിവരട്ടെ, എങ്കിൽ ഇവനിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ വിശ്വസിക്കാം.
43 He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"
ഇവൻ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. ദൈവം ഇവനിൽ സംപ്രീതനായിരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, അവിടന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ ഇവനെ വിടുവിക്കട്ടെ; ‘ഞാൻ ദൈവപുത്രൻ’” എന്ന അവകാശവാദം ഇവൻ ഉന്നയിച്ചല്ലോ
44 The robbers also who were crucified with him insulted him in the same way.
അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ക്രൂശിക്കപ്പെട്ട കൊള്ളക്കാരും അതുപോലെതന്നെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അധിക്ഷേപിച്ചു.
45 Now from noon until three in the afternoon there was darkness over all the land.
ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് പന്ത്രണ്ടുമണിമുതൽ മൂന്നുമണിവരെ ദേശത്തെല്ലായിടത്തും ഇരുട്ടു വ്യാപിച്ചു.
46 Then at about three in the afternoon Jesus called out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lema shabachthani?" That is, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
ഏകദേശം മൂന്നുമണിക്ക് യേശു, “ഏലീ, ഏലീ, ലമ്മാ ശബക്താനി?” അതായത്, “എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, എന്റെ ദൈവമേ, അവിടന്ന് എന്നെ കൈവിട്ടതെന്ത്?” എന്ന് അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിച്ചു.
47 Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, "This man is calling Elijah."
അവിടെ നിന്നിരുന്നവരിൽ ചിലർ ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ട്, “അയാൾ ഏലിയാവിനെ വിളിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
48 Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink.
ഉടനെതന്നെ അവരിൽ ഒരാൾ ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് ഒരു സ്പോഞ്ച് എടുത്തു. അയാൾ അതിൽ പുളിച്ച വീഞ്ഞു നിറച്ച് ഒരു ഈറ്റത്തണ്ടിന്മേൽവെച്ച് യേശുവിന് കുടിക്കാൻ കൊടുത്തു.
49 The rest said, "Let him be. Let us see whether Elijah comes to save him."
എന്നാൽ മറ്റുള്ളവർ, “നിൽക്കൂ, ഏലിയാവ് അയാളെ രക്ഷിക്കാൻ വരുമോ എന്നു നോക്കാം.” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up his spirit.
യേശു വീണ്ടും അത്യുച്ചത്തിൽ നിലവിളിച്ച് തന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
51 And look, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked and the rocks were split.
ആ നിമിഷംതന്നെ ദൈവാലയത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല മുകളിൽനിന്ന് താഴെവരെ രണ്ടായി ചീന്തിപ്പോയി. ഭൂകമ്പം ഉണ്ടായി, പാറകൾ പിളർന്നു,
52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;
ശവക്കല്ലറകൾ തുറന്നു. മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്ന അനേകം വിശുദ്ധരുടെ ശരീരങ്ങൾ ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റു.
53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many.
അവർ യേശുവിന്റെ പുനരുത്ഥാനത്തിനുശേഷം കല്ലറകളിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തുവരികയും, വിശുദ്ധനഗരത്തിൽ ചെന്ന് ധാരാളംപേർക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷരാകുകയും ചെയ്തു.
54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."
യേശുവിനു കാവൽനിന്നിരുന്ന ശതാധിപനും അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവരും ഭൂകമ്പവും മറ്റുസംഭവങ്ങളും കണ്ട് ഭയന്നുവിറച്ചു, “ഇദ്ദേഹം വാസ്തവമായും ദൈവപുത്രൻ ആയിരുന്നു!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
55 Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, serving him.
യേശുവിനെ പരിചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഗലീലയിൽനിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അനുഗമിച്ചിരുന്ന പല സ്ത്രീകളും അകലെനിന്ന് ഇതെല്ലാം സസൂക്ഷ്മം നിരീക്ഷിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
അവരുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ മഗ്ദലക്കാരി മറിയയും യാക്കോബ്, യോസെ എന്നിവരുടെ അമ്മ മറിയയും സെബെദിപുത്രന്മാരായ യാക്കോബ്, യോഹന്നാൻ എന്നിവരുടെ അമ്മയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
57 When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself was also Jesus' disciple came.
സന്ധ്യയായപ്പോൾ, യേശുവിന്റെ ഒരു ശിഷ്യനായിരുന്ന അരിമഥ്യക്കാരൻ യോസേഫ് എന്ന ധനികൻ അവിടെ എത്തി.
58 This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded that it be released.

59 Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
യോസേഫ് ആ മൃതദേഹം എടുത്ത് വെടിപ്പുള്ള ഒരു മൃദുലവസ്ത്രത്തിൽ പൊതിഞ്ഞ്,
60 and placed it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out in the rock, and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed.
തനിക്കായി പാറയിൽ വെട്ടിച്ചിരുന്ന പുതിയ കല്ലറയിൽ സംസ്കരിച്ചു. കല്ലറയുടെ കവാടത്തിൽ വലിയൊരു കല്ല് ഉരുട്ടിവെച്ചതിനുശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം പോയി.
61 Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.
അവിടെ, മഗ്ദലക്കാരി മറിയയും മറ്റേ മറിയയും കല്ലറയ്ക്കുമുമ്പിൽ ഇരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
62 Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate,
ഒരുക്കനാൾ കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ള ദിവസം പുരോഹിതമുഖ്യന്മാരും പരീശന്മാരും ഒരുമിച്ച് പീലാത്തോസിന്റെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു.
63 saying, "Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: 'After three days I will rise again.'
അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്, “പ്രഭോ, ആ വഞ്ചകൻ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നപ്പോൾ, ‘ഞാൻ മൂന്ന് ദിവസത്തിനുശേഷം ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേൽക്കും’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞത് ഞങ്ങൾ ഓർക്കുന്നു.
64 Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come and steal him away, and tell the people, 'He is risen from the dead;' and the last deception will be worse than the first."
അതുകൊണ്ട് മൂന്നുദിവസംവരെ കല്ലറ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കാൻ ഉത്തരവിടണം എന്നപേക്ഷിച്ചു. അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം അയാളുടെ ശിഷ്യന്മാർ വന്ന് മൃതദേഹം മോഷ്ടിക്കുകയും അയാൾ മരിച്ചവരിൽനിന്ന് ഉയിർത്തെഴുന്നേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് ജനങ്ങളോടു പറയുകയും ചെയ്യും. ഈ ഒടുവിലത്തെ വഞ്ചന ആദ്യത്തേതിനെക്കാൾ വിഷമകരമാകുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
65 Pilate said to them, "You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can."
അതിന് പീലാത്തോസ്, “ഒരുസംഘം സൈനികരെ തരാം, നിങ്ങൾ പോയി കഴിയുന്നവിധത്തിലെല്ലാം കല്ലറ സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
66 So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.
അങ്ങനെ അവർ പോയി ആ പാറമേൽ മുദ്രവെച്ചും സൈനികരെ നിയോഗിച്ചും കല്ലറ ഭദ്രമാക്കി.
