Matthew 2
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, look, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,
Y como fue nacido Jesús en Belén de Judea en días del rey Heródes, he aquí, que Magos vinieron del oriente a Jerusalem,
2 "Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him."
Diciendo: ¿Dónde está el rey de los Judíos, que ha nacido? Porque su estrella hemos visto en el oriente, y venimos a adorarle.
3 And when King Herod heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Y oyendo esto el rey Heródes se turbó, y toda Jerusalem con él.
4 And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ would be born.
Y convocados todos los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y los escribas del pueblo, les preguntó donde había de nacer el Cristo.
5 And they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written through the prophet,
Y ellos le dijeron: En Belén de Judea; porque así está escrito por el profeta:
6 'And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are in no way least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come forth a ruler who will shepherd my people, Israel.'"
Y tú, Belén, tierra de Judá, no eres muy pequeña entre los príncipes de Judá; porque de ti saldrá el Caudillo, que apacentará a mi pueblo Israel.
7 Then Herod secretly called the Magi, and learned from them exactly what time the star appeared.
Entonces Heródes, llamados los Magos en secreto, entendió de ellos diligentemente el tiempo del aparecimiento de la estrella.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, "Go and search diligently for the young child, and when you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him."
Y enviándoles a Belén, dijo: Andád allá, y preguntád con diligencia por el niño; y después que le hallareis, hacédme lo saber, para que yo venga y le adore.
9 And they, having heard the king, went their way; and look, the star which they saw in the east went before them, until it came and stood over where the young child was.
Y ellos, habiendo oído al rey, se fueron; y he aquí, que la estrella, que habían visto en el oriente, iba delante de ellos, hasta que llegando, se puso sobre donde estaba el niño.
10 And when they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
Y vista la estrella, se regocijaron mucho de gran gozo.
11 And they came into the house and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered to him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Y entrando en la casa, hallaron al niño con su madre María, y postrándose, le adoraron, y abriendo sus tesoros, le ofrecieron dones, oro, e incienso, y mirra.
12 Being warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they went back to their own country another way.
Y siendo avisados por revelación en sueños, que no volviesen a Heródes, se volvieron a su tierra por otro camino.
13 Now when they had departed, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him."
Y partidos ellos, he aquí, el ángel del Señor aparece en sueños a José, diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño, y a su madre, y huye a Egipto, y estáte allá, hasta que yo te lo diga; porque ha de acontecer que Heródes buscará al niño para matarle.
14 And he arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt,
Y levantándose él, tomó al niño y a su madre de noche, y se fue a Egipto;
15 and was there until the death of Herod; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, "Out of Egypt I called my son."
Y estuvo allá hasta la muerte de Heródes, para que se cumpliese lo que había hablado el Señor por el profeta, que dijo: De Egipto llamé a mi Hijo.
16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the Magi, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the Magi.
Heródes entonces, como se vio burlado de los Magos, se enojó mucho; y envió, y mató todos los niños que había en Belén, y en todos sus términos, de edad de dos años abajo, conforme al tiempo que había entendido de los Magos.
17 Then that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying,
Entonces se cumplió lo que fue dicho por el profeta Jeremías, que dijo:
18 "A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation and weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; and she would not be comforted, because they are no more."
Voz fue oída en Rama, lamentación, y lloro, y gemido grande: Raquel que llora sus hijos, y no quiso ser consolada, porque perecieron.
19 But when Herod was dead, look, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying,
Mas muerto Heródes, he aquí, el ángel del Señor aparece en sueños a José en Egipto,
20 "Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel, for those who sought the young child's life are dead."
Diciendo: Levántate, y toma al niño, y a su madre, y vete a tierra de Israel; que muertos son los que procuraban la muerte del niño.
21 And he arose and took the young child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel.
Entonces él se levantó, y tomó al niño, y a su madre, y vínose a tierra de Israel.
22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in the place of his father, Herod, he was afraid to go there. Being warned in a dream, he withdrew into the region of Galilee,
Y oyendo que Arquelao reinaba en Judea por Heródes su padre, tuvo temor de ir allá; mas amonestado por revelación en sueños, se fue a las partes de Galilea.
23 and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets, that he will be called a Nazorean.
Y vino, y habitó en la ciudad que se llama Nazaret; para que se cumpliese lo que fue dicho por los profetas, que había de ser llamado Nazareno.
