< Matthew 14 >

1 At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,
Tamin’ izany andro izany Heroda mpanapaka nandre ny lazan’ i Jesosy,
2 and said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him."
ka hoy izy tamin’ ny mpanompony: Jaona Mpanao-batisa izay; efa nitsangana tamin’ ny maty izy, koa izany no ananany hery hanao izany asa lehibe izany.
3 For Herod had arrested John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.
Fa Heroda efa nisambotra an’ i Jaona, dia namatotra azy ka nanao azy tao an-tranomaizina, noho ny tamin’ i Herodiasy, vadin’ i Filipo rahalahiny.
4 For John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."
Fa Jaona efa nilaza taminy hoe: Diso ianao, raha manambady azy.
5 And though he wanted to kill him, he feared the crowd because they regarded him as a prophet.
Ary Heroda naniry hamono azy, saingy natahotra ny vahoaka izy, satria nataon’ ireo ho mpaminany Jaona.
6 But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.
Fa nony tonga ny fitsingerenan’ ny taona nahaterahan’ i Heroda, dia nandihy teo anatrehany ny zanakavavin’ i Herodiasy ka nahafaly an’ i Heroda.
7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.
Ary noho izany dia nianiana izy fa hanome azy izay hangatahiny na inona na inona.
8 And she, being prompted by her mother, said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist."
Ary rehefa nomen-dreniny saina razazavavy, dia nanao hoe: Omeo ahy eto an-dovia ny lohan’ i Jaona Mpanao-batisa.
9 And the king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,
Dia nalahelo ny mpanjaka; kanefa noho ny fianianany sy ny olona izay niara-nipetraka nihinana teo aminy, dia nandidy ihany izy mba homena izany.
10 and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.
Ary dia naniraka hanapaka ny lohan’ i Jaona tao an-tranomaizina izy.
11 And his head was brought on a platter, and given to the young woman: and she brought it to her mother.
Dia nentina an-dovia ny lohany ka nomena ilay zazavavy; ary izy nitondra azy ho ao amin-dreniny.
12 Then his disciples came, and took the dead body, and buried him; and they went and told Jesus.
Ary avy ny mpianany, dia naka ny faty ka nandevina azy; ary dia lasa izy ka nilaza tamin’ i Jesosy.
13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a secluded place to be alone. When the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.
Ary nony nandre izany Jesosy, dia niondrana an-tsambokely niala teo handeha hitokana any an-tany foana; ary raha nandre izany ny vahoaka, dia niala teny amin’ ny tanàna maro izy ka nandeha an-tanety nanaraka Azy.
14 And he went out, and he saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
Ary nony nivoaka Jesosy, dia nahita vahoaka betsaka, ary onena azy ka nahasitrana ny marariny.
15 Now when evening had come, the disciples came to him, saying, "This place is desolate, and the hour is already late. Send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food."
Ary nony hariva ny andro, dia nanatona Azy ny mpianatra ka nanao hoe: Tany foana ity, ary efa hariva ny andro izao; ravao ny vahoaka, mba hankanesany eny amin’ ny vohitra hividy hanina ho azy.
16 But Jesus said to them, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."
Fa hoy Jesosy taminy: Tsy tokony handeha izy; omeonareo hanina izy.
17 And they told him, "We only have here five loaves and two fish."
Fa hoy ny mpianany taminy: Tsy misy atỳ aminay, afa-tsy mofo dimy sy hazandrano roa.
18 So he said, "Bring them here to me."
Ary hoy Izy: Ento eto amiko izany.
19 Then he commanded the crowds to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the crowds.
Dia nasainy nipetraka teny ambonin’ ny ahitra ny vahoaka, ary noraisiny ny mofo dimy sy ny hazandrano roa, dia niandrandra ny lanitra Izy ka nisaotra; ary nony efa novakiny ny mofo, dia natolony ny mpianatra, ary ny mpianatra kosa nanolotra ho an’ ny vahoaka.
20 And they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.
Ary nihinana avokoa izy rehetra, ka dia voky; ary nangoniny ny sombintsombiny sisa tsy lany, ka dia nahafeno harona roa ambin’ ny folo.
21 Now those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Ary izay nihinana dia tokony ho dimy arivo lahy, afa-tsy ny zaza amim-behivavy.
22 And immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the crowds away.
Ary niaraka tamin’ izay dia nanery ny mpianatra hiondrana an-tsambokely Jesosy ka hita eo alohany ho eny am-pita mandra-pandràvany ny vahoaka.
23 And after he had sent the crowds away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.
Ary rehefa noravany ny vahoaka, dia niakatra tao an-tendrombohitra Izy mba hitokana hivavaka; ary nony hariva ny andro, dia nitoetra irery teo Izy.
24 But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, battered by the waves, for the wind was against it.
Ary efa mby teo ampovoan’ ny ranomasina ny sambokely tamin’ izay, dia natopatopan’ ny alon-drano izy, fa notohain’ ny rivotra.
25 And in the watch between three and six in the morning, he came to them, walking on the sea.
Ary tamin’ ny fiambenana fahefatra amin’ ny alina dia nankeny amin’ ny mpianany Jesosy, nitsangantsangana teny ambonin’ ny ranomasina.
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, "It's a ghost." and they screamed with fear.
Ary nony nahita Azy nitsangantsangana tambonin’ ny ranomasina ny mpianatra, dia raiki-tahotra ka nanao hoe: Matoatoa io; dia niantso izy noho ny tahotra.
27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."
Ary Jesosy niteny taminy niaraka tamin’ izay hoe: Matokia, fa Izaho ihany, aza matahotra.
28 Peter answered him and said, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters."
Ary Petera namaly Azy ka nanao hoe: Tompoko, raha Hianao ihany, dia asaovy manatona Anao eny ambonin’ ny rano aho.
29 He said, "Come." Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the water and went toward Jesus.
Ary hoy Izy: Manatona. Dia nidina niala tamin’ ny sambokely Petera ka nandeha tambonin’ ny rano hanatona an’ i Jesosy.
30 But when he saw the strong wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he yelled, saying, "Lord, save me."
Fa raha nahita ny rivotra izy, dia natahotra, ary raha vao nilentika izy, dia niantso hoe: Tompo ô, vonjeo aho!
31 Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
Ary naninjitra ny tànany niaraka tamin’ izay Jesosy, dia nandray azy ka nanao taminy hoe: Ry kely finoana, nahoana no niahanahana ianao?
32 When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.
Ary rehefa niakatra teo an-tsambokely izy, dia nitsahatra ny rivotra.
33 Those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God."
Ary izay teo an-tsambokely dia niankohoka teo anatrehany ka nanao hoe: Zanak’ Andriamanitra tokoa Hianao.
34 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.
Ary nony tafita izy, dia tonga teo an-tanety, any Genesareta.
35 When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick,
Ary nony nahafantatra Azy ny tompon-tany teo, dia naniraka tany amin’ ny tany rehetra manodidina izy ka nitondra ny marary rehetra ho eo aminy.
36 and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe of his garment. And all who touched it were healed.
Ary nangataka taminy ireo mba hamela azy hanendry na dia ny somotraviavin-dambany ihany aza; koa na iza na iza no nanendry dia sitrana tokoa.
