1 It happened after the death of Joshua, the children of Israel asked of the LORD, saying, "Who should go up first to fight for us against the Canaanites?"
Após a morte de Josué, os filhos de Israel perguntaram a Javé, dizendo: “Quem deveria subir por nós primeiro contra os cananeus, para lutar contra eles”?
2 The LORD said, "Judah should go up. Look, I have delivered the land into his hand."
Yahweh disse: “Judah subirá”. Eis que eu entreguei a terra em suas mãos”.
3 Judah said to Simeon his brother, "Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot." So Simeon went with him.
Judah disse a Simeon, seu irmão: “Venha comigo à minha sorte, para que possamos lutar contra os cananeus; e eu também irei com você à sua sorte”. Então Simeão foi com ele.
4 Judah went up; and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand: and they struck of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
Judah subiu, e Yahweh entregou os cananeus e os perizeus em suas mãos. Eles atingiram dez mil homens em Bezek.
5 They found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek; and they fought against him, and they struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
Eles encontraram Adoni-Bezek em Bezek, e lutaram contra ele. Eles atingiram os cananeus e os perizitas.
6 But Adoni-Bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
Mas Adoni-Bezek fugiu. Eles o perseguiram, o pegaram e cortaram seus polegares e seus grandes dedos dos pés.
7 Adoni-Bezek said, "Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, scavenged under my table: as I have done, so God has requited me." They brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there.
Adoni-Bezek disse: “Setenta reis, tendo seus polegares e seus grandes dedos dos pés cortados, foram esquartejados debaixo da minha mesa”. Como eu fiz, assim Deus me fez a mim”. Eles o trouxeram para Jerusalém, e ele morreu lá.
8 The people of Judah fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and struck it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.
Os filhos de Judá lutaram contra Jerusalém, tomaram-na, atingiram-na com o fio da espada e incendiaram a cidade.
9 Afterward the people of Judah went down to fight against the Canaanites who lived in the hill country, and in the Negev, and in the lowland.
Depois disso, as crianças de Judah desceram para lutar contra os cananeus que viviam na região montanhosa, e no Sul, e na planície.
10 And Judah went against the Canaanites who lived in Hebron, and Hebron came out in opposition (now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba), and they struck Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.
Judah foi contra os cananeus que viviam em Hebron. (O nome de Hebron antes era Kiriath Arba.) Eles atingiram Sheshai, Ahiman e Talmai.
11 From there he went against the inhabitants of Debir. (Now the name of Debir before was Kiriath Sepher.)
De lá, ele foi contra os habitantes de Debir. (O nome de Debir antes era Kiriath Sepher)
12 Caleb said, "He who strikes Kiriath Sepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife."
Caleb disse: “Darei minha filha Achsah como esposa ao homem que atacar Kiriath Sepher, e a levarei”.
13 Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.
Othniel, filho de Kenaz, o irmão mais novo de Caleb, tomou-a, então ele lhe deu sua filha Achsah como esposa.
14 It happened, when she came to him, that she got him to ask her father for a field. And she got off from her donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What would you like?"
Quando ela chegou, ela conseguiu que ele pedisse um campo ao pai. Ela saiu do burro e Caleb lhe disse: “O que você gostaria?”.
15 She said to him, "Give me a blessing; since you have given me the land in the Negev, give me also springs of water." So Caleb gave her according to her heart the upper springs and the lower springs.
Ela lhe disse: “Dê-me uma bênção; porque você me colocou na terra do Sul, dê-me também nascentes de água”. Então Caleb lhe deu as fontes superiores e as fontes inferiores.
16 And the descendants of the Kenite, Moses' father-in-law, went up out of the city of palm trees with the people of Judah into the wilderness of Judah, which is in the Negev of Arad; and they went and lived with the people.
Os filhos do Kenita, cunhado de Moisés, subiram da cidade de palmeiras com os filhos de Judá para o deserto de Judá, que fica no sul de Arad; e foram viver com o povo.
17 Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they struck the Canaanites who inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. The name of the city was called Hormah.
Judá foi com Simeão, seu irmão, e eles atingiram os cananeus que habitavam Zefate, e o destruíram completamente. O nome da cidade foi chamado Hormah.
18 Also Judah took Gaza with its territory, and Ashkelon with its territory, and Ekron with its territory, and Ashdod with its surrounding lands.
Também Judah tomou Gaza com sua fronteira, Ashkelon com sua fronteira, e Ekron com sua fronteira.
19 The LORD was with Judah; and drove out the inhabitants of the hill country; for he could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
Yahweh estava com Judah, e expulsou os habitantes da região montanhosa; pois ele não podia expulsar os habitantes do vale, pois eles tinham carruagens de ferro.
20 They gave Hebron to Caleb, as Moses had spoken. And from there he possessed the three cities, and he drove out from there the three sons of Anak.
Eles deram Hebron a Caleb, como Moisés havia dito, e ele expulsou os três filhos de Anak de lá.
21 The people of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites who inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the people of Benjamin in Jerusalem to this day.
Os filhos de Benjamim não expulsaram os jebuseus que habitavam Jerusalém, mas os jebuseus habitam com os filhos de Benjamim em Jerusalém até os dias de hoje.
22 And the house of Joseph also went up against Bethel; and the LORD was with them.
A casa de José também foi contra Betel, e Yahweh estava com eles.
23 And the house of Joseph sent out spies to Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was Luz.)
A casa de José enviou para espionar Betel. (O nome da cidade antes disso era Luz)
24 And the spies saw a man coming out of the city, and they captured him, and they said to him, "Please show us the entrance into the city, and we will show you mercy."
Os observadores viram um homem sair da cidade, e lhe disseram: “Por favor, mostre-nos a entrada na cidade, e nós trataremos gentilmente com você”.
25 He showed them the entrance into the city; and they struck the city with the edge of the sword; but they let the man go and all his family.
Ele lhes mostrou a entrada na cidade, e eles atingiram a cidade com o fio da espada; mas eles deixaram o homem e toda sua família ir.
26 The man went into the land of the Hittites, and built a city, and called its name Luz, which is its name to this day.
O homem entrou na terra dos hititas, construiu uma cidade, e chamou seu nome de Luz, que é seu nome até hoje.
27 Manasseh did not drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shean and its towns, nor Taanach and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
Manasseh não expulsou os habitantes de Beth Shean e suas cidades, nem de Taanach e suas cidades, nem os habitantes de Dor e suas cidades, nem os habitantes de Ibleam e suas cidades, nem os habitantes de Megiddo e suas cidades; mas os cananeus habitariam naquela terra.
28 It happened, when Israel had grown strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and did not utterly drive them out.
Quando Israel se tornou forte, eles colocaram os cananeus em trabalhos forçados, e não os expulsaram totalmente.
29 Ephraim didn't drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer; but the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.
Efraim não expulsou os cananeus que viviam em Gezer, mas os cananeus viviam em Gezer, entre eles.
30 Zebulun didn't drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites lived among them, and became subject to forced labor.
Zebulun não expulsou os habitantes de Kitron, nem os habitantes de Nahalol; mas os cananeus viveram entre eles, e tornaram-se sujeitos a trabalhos forçados.
31 Asher did not drive out the inhabitants of Acco, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob;
Asher não expulsou os habitantes de Acco, nem os habitantes de Sidon, nem os habitantes de Ahlab, nem os de Achzib, nem os de Helbah, nem os de Aphik, nem os de Rehob;
32 but the Asherites lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land; for they did not drive them out.
mas os asheritas viveram entre os cananeus, os habitantes da terra, pois eles não os expulsaram.
33 Naphtali didn't drive out the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth Anath; but he lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh and of Beth Anath became subject to forced labor.
Naftali não expulsou os habitantes de Beth Shemesh, nem os habitantes de Beth Anath; mas ele viveu entre os cananeus, os habitantes da terra. Entretanto, os habitantes de Beth Shemesh e de Beth Anath ficaram sujeitos a trabalhos forçados.
34 The Amorites forced the people of Dan into the hill country; for they would not allow them to come down to the valley;
Os amoritas forçaram os filhos de Dan a entrarem na região montanhosa, pois não lhes permitiram descer ao vale;
35 but the Amorites would dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became subject to forced labor.
mas os amoritas morariam no Monte Heres, em Aijalon, e em Shaalbim. Mas a mão da casa de José prevaleceu, de modo que eles se submeteram ao trabalho forçado.
36 The border of the Amorites was from the ascent of Akrabbim, from Sela and upward.
A fronteira dos amorreus era desde a subida de Akrabbim, desde a rocha, e para cima.
