< John 2 >
1 And the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
Pea ʻi hono tolu ʻoe ʻaho, naʻe ai ʻae taʻane ʻi Kena ʻi Kāleli; pea naʻe ʻi ai ʻae faʻē ʻa Sisu:
2 Now Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the wedding.
Pea naʻe tala ʻae taʻane kia Sisu, pea mo ʻene kau ākonga.
3 And when the wine ran out, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no wine."
Pea ʻi he toe siʻi ʻae uaine, pea pehē ʻe he faʻē ʻa Sisu kiate ia, “ʻOku ʻikai haʻanau uaine.”
4 Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come."
Pea pehēange ʻe Sisu kiate ia, “Fefine, ko e hā au kiate koe?” ʻOku teʻeki ai hokosia hoku ʻaho.
5 His mother said to the servants, "Whatever he says to you, do it."
Pea pehē ʻe heʻene faʻē ki he kau tauhi, “Ko e meʻa kotoa pē te ne fekau kiate kimoutolu, fai [ia].”
6 Now there were six stone water jars set there after the Jewish manner of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece.
Pea naʻe tuʻu ʻi ai ʻae hina vai maka ʻe ono, ʻo fakatatau ki he anga ʻoe fakamaʻa fakaSiu, ko e pate ʻe ua pe tolu hono lahi.
7 Jesus said to them, "Fill the water jars with water." They filled them up to the brim.
Pea pehē ʻe Sisu kiate kinautolu, “Fakafonu ʻae ngaahi hina vai ʻi he vai.” Pea naʻa nau fakapito ngutungutu ia.
8 He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast." So they took it.
Pea fekau ʻe ia kiate kinautolu, “Fakatafe leva, ʻo ʻatu ki he pule ʻoe kātoanga.” Pea naʻa nau ʻatu [ia].
9 When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom,
Pea kuo kamata ʻe he pule ʻoe kātoanga ki he vai kuo liliu ko e uaine, kae ʻikai ʻilo ia pe ko e meʻa mei fē: (ka naʻe ʻilo ʻe he kau tauhi naʻa nau fakatafe ʻae vai; ) pea ui ʻae pule ʻoe kātoanga ki he tangata taʻane,
10 and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now."
ʻO ne pehē ki ai, “ʻOku tomuʻa ʻomi ʻe he tangata kotoa pē ʻae uaine lelei, pea ka lahilahingalelei ʻae inu ʻae kakai, ʻoku toki [ʻomi ]ʻa ia ʻoku kovi: [ka ] kuo ke tuku ʻae uaine lelei ki mui ni.”
11 This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
Naʻe fai ʻe Sisu ʻene fuofua mana ni ʻi Kena ʻi Kāleli, ʻo ne fakahā ai hono nāunau; pea naʻe tui ʻene kau ākonga kiate ia.
12 After this, he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother and brothers, and his disciples; and they stayed there a few days.
Hili eni, naʻe ʻalu ia ki Kapaneume, ʻa ia, mo ʻene faʻē, mo hono kāinga, mo ʻene kau ākonga: pea naʻe ʻikai te nau ʻaho lahi ai.
13 The Jewish Passover was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Pea kuo ofi ʻa e [kātoanga ʻoe ]Lakaatu ʻoe kakai Siu, pea ʻalu hake ʻa Sisu ki Selūsalema,
14 And he found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the money changers sitting.
ʻO ne ʻilo ʻi he falelotu lahi ʻae kau fakatau fanga pulu mo e sipi mo e lupe, pea mo e nofo ʻi ai ʻae kau fetongi paʻanga.
15 And he made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew their tables.
Pea naʻa ne ngaohi ha meʻa tā ʻaki ʻae afo tuʻo iiki, ʻo ne kapusi ʻakinautolu kotoa pē mei he falelotu lahi, mo e fanga sipi, mo e fanga pulu; ʻo ne lilingi ʻae ngaahi paʻanga ʻae kau fetongi, pea fulihi ʻae ngaahi palepale;
16 To those who sold the doves, he said, "Take these things out of here. Do not make my Father's house a marketplace."
Mo ne pehē kiate kinautolu naʻe fakatau lupe, “ʻAve ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni ʻi heni: ʻoua ʻe ngaohi ʻae fale ʻo ʻeku Tamai ko e fale fakatau.”
17 His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."
Pea naʻe manatu ai ʻene kau ākonga kuo tohi, “Kuo u ʻosiʻosiloto ʻi he fai feinga ki ho fale.”
18 The Jewish leaders therefore answered him, "What sign do you show us, seeing that you do these things?"
Pea leaange ʻae kau Siu, ʻo pehē kiate ia, “Ko e hā ʻae fakaʻilonga ʻoku ke fakahā kiate kimautolu, koeʻuhi ʻi hoʻo fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni?”
19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."
Pea leaange ʻa Sisu, ʻo pehē kiate kinautolu, “Veteki ʻae fale ni, pea te u fokotuʻu hake ia ʻi he ʻaho ʻe tolu.”
20 The Jewish leaders therefore said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?"
Pea talaange ʻe he kau Siu, “Ko e taʻu ʻe fāngofulu ma ono mo e langa ʻoe fale ni, pea te ke faʻa fokotuʻu hake ia ʻi he ʻaho ʻe tolu?”
21 But he spoke of the temple of his body.
Ka naʻe lea ia ki he fale ko hono sino.
22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
Ko ia ʻi he hili ʻene tuʻu hake mei he mate, naʻe manatu ʻene kau ākonga, naʻa ne lea ʻaki eni kiate kinautolu; pea ne nau tui ki he tohi, mo ia naʻe lea ʻaki ʻe Sisu.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, after seeing his signs which he did.
Pea ʻi heʻene ʻi Selūsalema ʻi he [kātoanga ʻoe ]Lakaatu naʻe tui ʻae tokolahi ki hono huafa lolotonga ʻae kātoanga, ʻi heʻenau mamata ki he ngaahi mana naʻa ne fai.
24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because he knew everyone,
Ka naʻe ʻikai falala atu ʻa Sisu kiate kinautolu, koeʻuhi naʻa ne ʻiloʻi ʻakinautolu kotoa pē.
25 and because he did not need anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man.
Pea naʻe ʻikai ʻaonga ke fakaʻilo ʻe ha taha [kiate ia ]ha meʻa ʻi he tangata: he naʻa ne ʻiloʻi ʻae loto ʻoe tangata.
