< Job 15 >
1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,
Eliifaaz Teemaanichi akkana jedhee deebise:
2 "Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
“Namni ogeessi tokko dubbii faayidaa hin qabneen deebii kennaa? Yookaan bubbee baʼa biiftuutiin garaa isaa guutataa?
3 Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
Inni dubbii faayidaa hin qabneen, haasaa buʼaa hin qabneenis ni falmaa?
4 Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
Ati garuu Waaqa sodaachuu ni tuffatta; Waaqa kadhachuu illee nama dhowwita.
5 For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
Cubbuun kee afaan kee ni barsiifti; atis afaan jalʼootaa filatta.
6 Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.
Afaanuma keetu sitti mura malee afaan koo miti; arrabuma keetu ragaa sitti taʼa.
7 "Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought forth before the hills?
“Situ nama hunda dura dhalatee? Yookaan situ tulluuwwan dura argamee?
8 Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
Ati dhoksaa Waaqaa dhageesseertaa? Ogummaas ofuma keetiif dhuunfattaa?
9 What do you know, that we do not know? What do you understand, which is not in us?
Wanni ati beektu kan nu hin beekne maali? Hubannaan ati qabdu kan nu hin qabne maali?
10 With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much elder than your father.
Namoonni arrii baasanii fi kanneen jaaran, warri abbaa kee iyyuu caalaa dullooman nu gidduu jiru.
11 Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
Gorsi Waaqaa kan nama jajjabeessu, dubbiin suutaan sitti himame sun si hanqatee?
12 Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
Yaadni kee maaliif si fudhatee bada? Ijas maaliif babaafta?
13 That you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
Wanni akka ati Waaqatti aartu, akka dubbiin akkasiis afaan keetii baʼu godhe maali?
14 What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
“Akka qulqulluu taʼuuf namni maali? Yookaan akka qajeeltota taʼaniif warri dubartoota irraa dhalatan maali?
15 Look, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight;
Yoo Waaqni qulqulloota isaa illee amanuu baatee samiiwwan iyyuu fuula isaa duratti qulqulluu taʼuu baatan,
16 how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water.
yoos sanyiin namaa inni hamaa fi xuraaʼaan, kan akkuma bishaaniitti cubbuu dhugu sun hammam hammasii gad haa taʼu ree!
17 "I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare:
“Na dhaggeeffadhu; ani siifan ibsaa; waanan arges sitti nan hima;
18 (Which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not hidden it;
waan namoonni ogeeyyiin waan abbootii isaanii irraa dhagaʼan keessaa tokko illee utuu hin dhoksin odeessan sana nan dubbadha;
19 to whom alone the land was given, and no stranger passed among them):
biyyattiin abbootii isaanii qofaaf kennamte; alagaan tokko iyyuu isaan gidduu hin jiraanne.
20 the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
Namni dabaan bara jireenya isaa guutuu, gara jabeessis bara isaaf qoodame guutuu ni rakkata.
21 A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer shall come on him.
Sagaleen sodaachisaan gurra isaatti ni iyya; utuma inni nagaan jiraatuus saamtonni tasuma itti dhufu.
22 He doesn't believe that he shall return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
Inni akka deebiʼee dukkana keessaa baʼu hin amanu; goraadeetu isa eeggata.
23 He wanders abroad for bread, saying, 'Where is it?' He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
Inni waan nyaatamu barbaacha asii fi achi joora; akka guyyaan dukkanaa dhiʼaates ni beeka.
24 Distress and anguish make him afraid. They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
Dhiphinaa fi gaddi isa sodaachisu; akkuma mootii lolaaf qophaaʼeettis isatti cimu;
25 Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against Shaddai;
inni harka isaa Waaqatti ol fudhatee Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼus tuffateera;
26 he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers;
gaachana yabbuu fi jabaa qabatee isaan mormuuf mata jabinaan baʼeera.
27 because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
“Yoo fuulli isaa coomaan haguugamee mudhiin isaa foon baasee iitaʼe iyyuu,
28 He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
inni magaalaawwan barbadaaʼan keessa, manneen namni tokko iyyuu keessa hin jiraanne, kanneen diigamanii tuulamuu gaʼan keessa jiraata.
29 He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall their possessions be extended on the earth.
Inni siʼachi hin sooromu; qabeenyi isaas hin jiraatu; yookaan qabeenyi isaa lafa irra hin turu.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness. The flame shall dry up his branches. By the breath of God's mouth shall he go away.
Inni dukkana jalaa hin baʼu; arrabni ibiddaa damee isaa ni gogsa; hafuurri afaan Waaqaatii baʼus isa fudhata.
31 Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself; for emptiness shall be his reward.
Inni sababii beenyaa tokko illee hin arganneef, waan faayidaa hin qabne amanachuudhaan of hin gowwoomsin.
32 It shall be accomplished before his time. His branch shall not be green.
Inni utuu yeroon isaa hin gaʼin ni coollaga; dameen isaas hin lalisu.
33 He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive tree.
Inni akka muka wayinii iji isaa utuu hin bilchaatin irraa funaanamee, akka ejersa daraaraa isaa of irraa harcaasee ni taʼa.
34 For the company of the godless shall be barren, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery.
Gareen warra Waaqaaf hin bullee ni maseena; ibiddis dunkaana warra mattaʼaa jaallatanii ni guba.
35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. Their heart prepares deceit."
Isaan rakkina ulfaaʼanii hammina dhalan; garaan isaaniis jalʼina yaada.”
