James 2
1 My brothers, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality.
തേജോമയനായ നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിൽ വിശ്വാസം അർപ്പിച്ച എന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, നിങ്ങൾ പക്ഷഭേദപരമായി പെരുമാറരുത്.
2 For if someone with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue, and a poor person in filthy clothing also comes in;
നിങ്ങളുടെ സഭയിൽ സ്വർണമോതിരമണിഞ്ഞും പകിട്ടേറിയ വസ്ത്രംധരിച്ചും ഒരാളും മുഷിഞ്ഞവേഷംമാത്രം ധരിച്ച ഒരു ദരിദ്രനും വരുന്നു എന്നിരിക്കട്ടെ.
3 and you pay special attention to the one who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place;" but you tell the poor person, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool."
വിശിഷ്ടവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചയാൾക്കു നിങ്ങൾ പ്രത്യേകപരിഗണന നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട്, “ഈ ആദരണീയമായ ഇരിപ്പിടത്തിൽ ഇരുന്നാലും” എന്നു പറയുകയും ദരിദ്രനോട്, “നീ അവിടെ മാറിനിൽക്കൂ” എന്നോ “എന്റെ കാൽക്കൽ ഇരിക്കൂ” എന്നോ പറയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ,
4 Have you not discriminated among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽത്തന്നെ നിങ്ങൾ പക്ഷപാതപരമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും ദുഷ്ടലാക്കോടെ വിവേചനം കാണിക്കുകയുമല്ലേ ചെയ്യുന്നത്?
5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?
എന്റെ പ്രിയസഹോദരങ്ങളേ, ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക: ദൈവം ഈ ലോകത്തിലെ ദരിദ്രരെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ സമ്പന്നരും തന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നവർക്കു വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ അവകാശികളുമായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തില്ലയോ?
6 But you have dishonored the poor person. Do not the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?
നിങ്ങളോ ദരിദ്രനെ അപമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ധനികരല്ലേ നിങ്ങളെ ചൂഷണംചെയ്യുകയും കോടതികളിലേക്കു വലിച്ചിഴയ്ക്കുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നത്?
7 Do not they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called?
നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ച കർത്താവിന്റെ മഹനീയനാമത്തെ ദുഷിക്കുന്നതും അവരല്ലേ?
8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself," you do well.
“നീ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നതുപോലെതന്നെ നിന്റെ അയൽവാസിയെയും സ്നേഹിക്കണം” എന്ന തിരുവെഴുത്ത് അനുശാസിക്കുന്ന, രാജകീയ നിയമം പാലിക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ നിങ്ങൾ ഉത്തമമായതു പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
പക്ഷഭേദം കാണിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലോ പാപംചെയ്യുന്നു; അങ്ങനെ ന്യായപ്രമാണമനുസരിച്ച് നിങ്ങൾ കുറ്റവാളികളായി വിധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
ഒരാൾ ന്യായപ്രമാണകൽപ്പനകൾ, ഒന്നൊഴികെ സകലതും അനുസരിച്ചാലും അയാൾ സമ്പൂർണന്യായപ്രമാണവും ലംഘിച്ചതിനു സമമാണ്.
11 For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "Do not commit murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
“വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യരുത്” എന്നു കൽപ്പിച്ച അതേ ദൈവംതന്നെയാണ് “കൊലപാതകം ചെയ്യരുത്” എന്നും കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. വ്യഭിചാരം ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും കൊലപാതകം ചെയ്യുന്നെങ്കിൽ നീ ന്യായപ്രമാണം ലംഘിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
12 So speak, and so do, as those who are to be judged by a law of freedom.
സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യമേകുന്ന ന്യായപ്രമാണത്താൽ നാം വിധിക്കപ്പെടാനുള്ളവർ ആയതുകൊണ്ട് നമ്മുടെ വാക്കുകളും പ്രവൃത്തികളും അതിനനുസൃതമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
കരുണാരഹിതർക്ക് നിഷ്കരുണമായ ന്യായവിധി ഉണ്ടാകും. കാരുണ്യമുള്ളവരോ ന്യായവിധിയുടെമേൽ വിജയംനേടും.
14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?
എന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളേ, ഒരാൾ തനിക്കു വിശ്വാസമുണ്ടെന്ന് അവകാശപ്പെടുകയും അതിനനുസൃതമായ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ എന്തു പ്രയോജനം? ആ വിശ്വാസം അയാളെ രക്ഷിക്കുമോ?
15 And if a brother or sister is poorly clothed and may be lacking in daily food,
ഒരു സഹോദരനോ സഹോദരിക്കോ വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കാനില്ലാതെയും പ്രതിദിന ആഹാരത്തിനുള്ള മാർഗം ഇല്ലാതെയും ഇരുന്നാൽ
16 and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled;" and yet you did not give them the things the body needs, what good is it?
നിങ്ങളിൽ ഒരാൾചെന്ന് അയാളോട്: “വീട്ടിൽപോയി തീകായുകയും മൃഷ്ടാന്നഭോജനം കഴിക്കുകയുംചെയ്ത് സ്വസ്ഥമായിരിക്കൂ” എന്നു പറയുന്നതല്ലാതെ, അയാളുടെ സംരക്ഷണത്തിനു വേണ്ടതൊന്നും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ എന്തു പ്രയോജനം?
17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.
ഇപ്രകാരമാണ് പ്രവൃത്തിയില്ലാത്ത വിശ്വാസം സ്വയം നിർജീവമായിരിക്കുന്നത്.
18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith.
എന്നാൽ, “നിനക്കുള്ളത് വിശ്വാസം; എനിക്കുള്ളത് പ്രവൃത്തി” എന്ന് ഒരാൾ പറഞ്ഞാൽ, പ്രവൃത്തികൾകൂടാതെയുള്ള നിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം എനിക്കു തെളിയിച്ചു തരിക, പ്രവൃത്തിയിലൂടെ ഉള്ള എന്റെ വിശ്വാസം ഞാനും തെളിയിച്ചു തരാം.
19 You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.
ദൈവം ഏകൻ എന്നു നീ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. നല്ലതുതന്നെ! അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കളും അതു വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ഭയവിഹ്വലരാകുകയുംചെയ്യുന്നു.
20 But do you want to know, foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless?
വിഡ്ഢിയായ മനുഷ്യാ, പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ഇല്ലാത്ത വിശ്വാസം നിഷ്‌പ്രയോജനമാണ് എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ നിനക്ക് ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ടോ?
21 Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
നമ്മുടെ അബ്രാഹാം പിതാവ് മകൻ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേൽ അർപ്പിച്ചപ്പോൾ, പ്രവൃത്തിയാൽ അല്ലേ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്?
22 You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected;
അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വിശ്വാസം പ്രവൃത്തിയോടു ചേർന്നു പ്രവർത്തിച്ചെന്നും പ്രവൃത്തിയാൽ വിശ്വാസം പൂർത്തീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നും നിങ്ങൾ കാണുന്നല്ലോ?
23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness;" and he was called the friend of God.
“അബ്രാഹാം ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ചു, അതുനിമിത്തം ദൈവം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നീതിമാനായി കണക്കാക്കി” എന്നുള്ള തിരുവെഴുത്ത് ഇങ്ങനെ നിറവേറുകയും അദ്ദേഹം ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സ്നേഹിതൻ എന്നു വിളിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
അങ്ങനെ മനുഷ്യൻ വിശ്വാസംകൊണ്ടുമാത്രമല്ല, മറിച്ച് അവർ ചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തികൾകൊണ്ടുമാണ് നീതിനിഷ്ഠരായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്.
25 In like manner was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?
അതുപോലെ രാഹാബ് എന്ന ഗണികയും ആ ചാരന്മാരെ സ്വീകരിക്കുകയും അവരെ വേറൊരു വഴിക്കു പറഞ്ഞയയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ പ്രവൃത്തികളാലല്ലേ നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്?
26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
ആത്മാവില്ലാത്ത ശരീരം നിർജീവം ആയിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, പ്രവൃത്തിയില്ലാത്ത വിശ്വാസവും നിർജീവമാകുന്നു.
