Galatians 3
1 Foolish Galatians, who has cunningly deceived you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly set forth as crucified?
ⲁ̅ⲱ ⲛⲓⲁⲛⲟⲏⲧⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲅⲁⲗⲁⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉⲧⲁϥⲉⲣⲃⲁⲥⲕⲁⲛⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥϧⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁϩⲣⲉⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲃⲁⲗ ⳿ⲉⲁⲩⲁϣϥ.
2 I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
ⲃ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ ⳿ⲉϯⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ϣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ.
3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?
ⲅ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲁⲧϩⲏⲧ ⳿ⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣϩⲏ ⲧⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ϯⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϫⲱⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲥⲁⲣⲝ.
4 Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?
ⲇ̅ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲉⲡ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛϧⲓⲥⲓ ϩⲓⲕⲏ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲇⲉ ϩⲓⲕⲏ.
5 He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
ⲉ̅ⲫⲏ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲧⲥⲁϩⲛⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲉⲣϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲉϩⲁⲛϫⲟⲙ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ϣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ.
6 Even as Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."
ⲋ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲉⲫϯ ⲁⲩⲟⲡⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
7 Know therefore that those who are of faith, the same are children of Abraham.
ⲍ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲁ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲓϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ.
8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the non-Jews by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, "Through you all the nations will be blessed."
ⲏ̅ⲉⲧⲁⲥⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ϯ⳿ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲫϯ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲑⲙⲁⲓⲉ ⲛⲓⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲁⲥⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛϩⲓϣⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩϥⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ϫⲉ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲥⲙⲁⲣⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲕ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ.
9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
ⲑ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⲥⲉⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲡⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ.
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."
ⲓ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲥⲉⲭⲏ ϧⲁ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲥ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⳿ϥ⳿ⲥϩⲟⲩⲟⲣⲧ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲛ⳿ϥⲛⲁⲟϩⲓ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲧ⳿ⲥϧⲏ ⲟⲩⲧ ϩⲓ ⳿ⲡϫⲱⲙ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲡⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ.
11 Now it is evident that no one is justified by the law before God, for, "The righteous will live by faith."
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲛⲁⲙⲁⲓ ϧⲁⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⳿ϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲁϥⲛⲁⲱⲛϧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ.
12 The law is not of faith, but, "The one who does them will live by them."
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲫⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲱⲛϧ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ.
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁϥϣⲟⲡⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲁϩⲟⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲛ ⳿ⲥ⳿ⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⳿ϥ⳿ⲥϩⲟⲩⲟⲣⲧ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲁϣⲓ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡϣⲉ.
14 that the blessing of Abraham might come on the non-Jews through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⳿ⲡ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛϭⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲱϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ.
15 Brothers, I am speaking in human terms. Though it is only a human covenant, once it has been ratified, no one annuls it or adds to it.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲁⲓϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲟⲙⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲑⲏⲕⲏ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲁⲩϣⲁⲛⲧⲁϫⲣⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ϣⲟϣϥⲥ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲉⲙ ⲑⲁϣⲥ.
16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He does not say, "And to offsprings," as of many, but as of one, "And to your offspring," which is Christ.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲱϣ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲉⲡⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉϥ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⲛⲁϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉϥ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ϩⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲉⲕ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⲉⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉ.
17 Now I say this: the law, which came four hundred thirty years later, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to cancel the promise.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲓ⳿ⲁⲑⲏ ⲕⲏ ⳿ⲉⲁⲩⲉⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁϫⲣⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲁ ⲩ̅ⲗ̅ ⳿ⲛⲣⲟⲙⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϥⲃⲱⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥⲕⲱⲣϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲱϣ.
18 For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲉ ϯ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ ⲓⲉ ⲉⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ⲧⲉ ⲉⲧⲁ ⲫϯ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲱϣ.
19 What then is the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲭⲁϥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲓⲡⲁⲣⲁⲃⲁⲥⲓⲥ ϣⲁⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲱϣ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲁⲩⲑⲁϣϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧϫⲓϫ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲉⲥⲓⲧⲏⲥ.
20 Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.
ⲕ̅ⲡⲓⲙⲉⲥⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲫⲁ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲫϯ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ.
21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not. For if there had been a law given which could give life, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲁϥϯ ⲟⲩⲃⲉ ⲛⲓⲱϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲁⲩϯ ⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⳿ϣϫⲟⲙ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲁⲛϧⲟ ⲟⲛⲧⲱⲥ ⲛⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲉ.
22 But the Scriptures imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϯ⳿ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲁⲥ⳿ϣⲑⲁⲙ ⳿ⲉϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲟⲃⲓ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲡⲓⲱϣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ⳿ⲛⲒⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲛⲥⲉⲧⲏⲓϥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲑⲛⲁϩϯ.
23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ⲉⲙⲡⲁⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲛⲁⲩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ⲡⲉ ϧⲁ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲙⲁϣⲑⲁⲙ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲛ ϣⲁ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲉⲑⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϭⲱⲣⲡ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
24 So that the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲁϥⲉⲣϭⲁⲩⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲙⲁⲓ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ.
25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲛⲁϩϯ ⲧⲉⲛⲭⲏ ⲁⲛ ϫⲉ ϧⲁ ⲟⲩϭⲁⲩⲙⲱⲓⲧ.
26 For you are all sons of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛϣⲏ ⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁϩϯ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ϧⲁ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲟⲙⲥⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϯ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲓ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲉⲓⲛⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲃⲱⲕ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲣⲉⲙϩⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ϩⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
29 If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring and heirs according to promise.
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ϩⲁⲣⲁ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲁ ⳿ⲡ⳿ϫⲣⲟϫ ⳿ⲛⲁⲃⲣⲁⲁⲙ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲓⲱϣ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ
