< Ecclesiastes 3 >

1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
Àsìkò wà fún ohun gbogbo, àti ìgbà fún gbogbo nǹkan ní abẹ́ ọ̀run.
2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
Ìgbà láti bí àti ìgbà kíkú, ìgbà láti gbìn àti ìgbà láti fàtu.
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
Ìgbà láti pa àti ìgbà láti mú láradá ìgbà láti wó lulẹ̀ àti ìgbà láti kọ́.
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
Ìgbà láti sọkún àti ìgbà láti rín ẹ̀rín ìgbà láti ṣọ̀fọ̀ àti ìgbà láti jó,
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
ìgbà láti tú òkúta ká àti ìgbà láti ṣà wọ́n jọ ìgbà láti súnmọ́ àti ìgbà láti fàsẹ́yìn,
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
ìgbà láti wá kiri àti ìgbà láti ṣàì wá kiri ìgbà láti pamọ́ àti ìgbà láti jù nù,
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
ìgbà láti ya àti ìgbà láti rán ìgbà láti dákẹ́ àti ìgbà láti sọ̀rọ̀,
8 a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
ìgbà láti ní ìfẹ́ àti ìgbà láti kórìíra ìgbà fún ogun àti ìgbà fún àlàáfíà.
9 What profit has he who works in that in which he labors?
Kí ni òṣìṣẹ́ jẹ ní èrè nínú wàhálà rẹ̀?
10 I have seen the burden which God has given to the sons of men to be afflicted with.
Mo ti rí àjàgà tí Ọlọ́run gbé lé ọmọ ènìyàn.
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their hearts, yet so that man can't find out the work that God has done from the beginning even to the end.
Ó ti ṣe ohun gbogbo dáradára ní àsìkò tirẹ̀, ó sì ti fi èrò nípa ayérayé sí ọkàn ọmọ ènìyàn, síbẹ̀, wọn kò le ṣe àwárí ìdí ohun tí Ọlọ́run ti ṣe láti ìbẹ̀rẹ̀ títí dé òpin.
12 I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice, and to do good as long as they live.
Mo mọ̀ wí pé kò sí ohun tí ó dára fún ènìyàn ju pé kí inú wọn dùn kí wọn sì ṣe rere níwọ̀n ìgbà tí wọ́n sì wà láààyè.
13 Also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God.
Wí pé: kí olúkúlùkù le è jẹ, kí wọn sì mu, kí wọn sì rí ìtẹ́lọ́rùn nínú gbogbo iṣẹ́ wọn ẹ̀bùn Ọlọ́run ni èyí jẹ́.
14 I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; and God has done it, that men should fear before him.
Mo mọ̀ wí pé ohun gbogbo tí Ọlọ́run ṣe ni yóò wà títí láé, kò sí ohun tí a lè fi kún un tàbí kí a yọ kúrò nínú rẹ̀. Ọlọ́run ṣe èyí kí ènìyàn le è ní ìbẹ̀rù rẹ̀ ni.
15 That which is has been long ago, and that which is to be has been long ago: and God seeks again that which is passed away.
Ohun tí ó wà ti wà tẹ́lẹ̀, ohun tí ó ń bọ̀ wá ti wà tẹ́lẹ̀, Ọlọ́run yóò sì mú kí àwọn ohun tí ó ti ṣẹlẹ̀ sẹ́yìn tún ṣẹlẹ̀.
16 Moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.
Mo sì tún rí ohun mìíràn ní abẹ́ ọ̀run dípò ìdájọ́, òdodo ni ó wà níbẹ̀ dípò ètò òtítọ́, ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ ni o wà níbẹ̀.
17 I said in my heart, "God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work."
Mo wí nínú ọkàn mi, “Ọlọ́run yóò ṣe ìdájọ́ olódodo àti ènìyàn búburú, nítorí pé àsìkò yóò wà fún gbogbo iṣẹ́, àti àsìkò ṣe ìdájọ́ gbogbo ìṣe.”
18 I said in my heart, "As for the sons of men, God tests them, so that they may see that they themselves are like animals.
Mo tún rò pé “Ọlọ́run ń dán wa wò láti fihàn wá wí pé bí ẹranko ni ènìyàn rí.
19 For that which happens to the sons of men happens to animals. Even one thing happens to them. As the one dies, so the other dies. Yes, they have all one breath; and man has no advantage over the animals: for all is vanity.
Ó ní láti jẹ́ ohun ìrántí pé ìpín ènìyàn rí bí i tẹranko ìpín kan náà ń dúró dè wọ́n. Bí ọ̀kan ti ń kú náà ni èkejì yóò kú. Àwọn méjèèjì ni irú èémí kan náà, ènìyàn kò sàn ju ẹranko lọ, nítorí pé asán ni yíyè jẹ́ fún wọn.
20 All go to one place. All are from the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Ibìkan náà ni gbogbo wọn ń lọ, wọ́n wá láti inú erùpẹ̀, inú erùpẹ̀ náà ni wọn yóò tún padà sí.
21 Who knows the spirit of man, whether it goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, whether it goes downward to the earth?"
Ta ni ó mọ̀ bóyá ẹ̀mí ènìyàn ń lọ sí òkè tí ẹ̀mí ẹranko sì ń lọ sí ìsàlẹ̀ nínú ilẹ̀ ni?”
22 Therefore I saw that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion: for who can bring him to see what will be after him?
Nígbà náà, ni mo wá rí i wí pé, kò sí ohun tí ó sàn fún ènìyàn ju kí ó gbádùn iṣẹ́ rẹ̀, nítorí pé ìpín tirẹ̀ ni èyí. Tàbí ta ni ó le è mú kí ó rí ohun tí yóò ṣẹlẹ̀ lẹ́yìn rẹ̀ kò sí!
