2 Chronicles 11
1 When Rehoboam had come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand chosen men, who were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
Als aber Rehabeam nach Jerusalem gelangt war, versammelte er das Haus Juda und Benjamin, 180000 auserlesene Krieger, zum Kampfe gegen Israel, um Rehabeam das Königtum wiederzugewinnen.
2 But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Aber das Wort Jahwes erging an Semaja, den Mann Gottes also:
3 "Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
Sprich zu Rehabeam, dem Sohne Salomos, dem Könige von Juda, und zu ganz Israel in Juda und Benjamin also:
4 'Thus says the LORD, "You shall not go up, nor fight against your brothers. Return every man to his house; for this thing is of me."'" So they listened to the word of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.
So spricht Jahwe: Ihr sollt nicht hinziehen, um gegen eure Brüder zu kämpfen: jedermann kehre wieder heim, denn durch mich ist es also gefügt worden! Als sie die Worte Jahwes vernahmen, kehrten sie um und gaben den Zug gegen Jerobeam auf.
5 Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.
So blieb denn Rehabeam zu Jerusalem. Und er baute eine Anzahl Städte in Juda zu Festungen um;
6 He built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
und zwar baute er Bethlehem, Etam, Thekoa,
7 Beth Zur, and Soco, and Adullam,
Beth-Zur, Socho, Adullam,
8 and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
Gath, Maresa, Siph,
9 and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
Adoraim, Lachis, Aseka,
10 and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities.
Zorea, Ajalon, und Hebron, die in Juda und Benjamin lagen, zu festen Städten um.
11 He fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and stores of food, and oil and wine.
Er machte diese Festungen stark, that Befehlshaber hinein, sowie Vorräte von Speise, Öl und Wein
12 He put shields and spears in every city, and made them exceeding strong. Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
und in jede Stadt Schilde und Speere und machte sie überaus stark. Und es gehörte ihm Juda und Benjamin.
13 The priests and the Levites who were in all Israel resorted to him out of all their border.
Die Priester und Leviten aber, die sich irgendwo in Israel befanden, kamen aus allen ihren Bezirken und stellten sich ihm zur Verfügung.
14 For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office to the LORD;
Denn die Leviten verließen ihre Weidetriften und ihr Besitztum und begaben sich nach Juda und Jerusalem. Denn Jerobeam und seine Söhne hatten sie aus dem Priesterdienste vor Jahwe verstoßen;
15 and he appointed him priests for the high places, and for the male goats, and for the calves which he had made.
und er hatte sich selbst Priester bestellt für die Opferhöhen und die Bocksgestalten und die Kälber, die er hatte anfertigen lassen.
16 After them, out of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their hearts to seek the LORD, the God of Israel, came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Und aus allen Stämmen Israels schlossen sich ihnen diejenigen an, die ihren Sinn darauf richteten, Jahwe, den Gott Israels, zu suchen. Sie kamen nach Jerusalem, um Jahwe, den Gott ihrer Väter, zu opfern.
17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, three years; for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon.
So stärkten sie das Reich Juda und befestigten Rehabeam, den Sohn Salomos, drei Jahre lang. Denn sie wandelten in den Wegen Davids und Salomos, drei Jahre lang.
18 Rehoboam took him a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;
Und Rehabeam nahm sich Mahalath, die Tochter Jerimoths, des Sohnes Davids, und Abihails, der Tochter Eliabs, des Sohnes Isais, zum Weibe;
19 and she bore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
die gebar ihm folgende Söhne: Jeus, Semarja und Saham.
20 After her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom; and she bore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Und nach ihr heiratete er Maacha, die Tochter Absaloms; die gebar ihm Abia, Attai, Sisa und Selomith.
21 Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his secondary wives: (for he took eighteen wives, and sixty secondary wives, and became the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.)
Und Rehabeam hatte Maacha, die Tochter Absaloms, lieber als alle seine anderen Frauen und Kebsweiber; denn er hatte achtzehn Frauen und sechzig Kebsweiber genommen und erzeugte achtundzwanzig Söhne und sechzig Töchter.
22 Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah to be chief, the prince among his brothers; for he intended to make him king.
Und Rehabeam bestellte Abia, den Sohn Maachas, zum Haupte, zum Fürsten unter seinen Brüdern; denn er gedachte ihn zum Könige zu machen.
23 He dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the lands of Judah and Benjamin, to every fortified city: and he gave them food in abundance. He sought for them many wives.
Und er handelte klug und verteilte eine Anzahl von allen seinen Söhnen in alle Gegenden von Juda und Benjamin in alle die festen Städte und lieferte ihnen reichliche Zehrung und begehrte für sie eine Menge von Frauen.
