< 1 Timothy 5 >
1 Do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;
Tongpa matawngnaw hah puenghoi yue laipalah, na pa patetlah thapoe loe. Tongpa kanaw hah hmaunawngha patetlah pouk loe.
2 the older women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.
Napui matawngnaw hah na manu patetlah pouk nateh, tanglanaw hah kathoungpounge na tawncei patetlah pouk loe.
3 Honor widows who are widows indeed.
Lahmai lah kaawm katang e napuinaw hah bari nateh khenyawn loe.
4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
Hateiteh, hote lahmainu ni a ca catounnaw tawn pawiteh, hote ca catounnaw ni Cathut thaw lah a pouk awh vaiteh, mae im a khetyawt hoi, manu na pa mintoenaw khetyawtnae kamtu awh naseh. Hottelah tawknae teh Cathut ni a ngai e doeh.
5 Now she who is a widow indeed, and desolate, has her hope set on God, and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
Khenyawnkung awm laipalah amadueng kaawm e lahmainu teh, Cathut kâuep laihoi karum khodai pout laipalah ouk a ratoum.
6 But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.
Hatei, talai van nawmnae dawk ka cet e lahmainu teh a hring nahlangva kadout e lah ao.
7 Also command these things, so that they will be without fault.
Apinihai tounhoehe lah ao nahan kâ poe loe.
8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
Apipatethai imthung ka khenyawn hoeh e teh yuemnae ka pahnawt e lah ao teh, kayuemhoehnaw hlak hoe a mathoe.
9 Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,
Kum 60 kakuep hoeh rae teh lahmainu lah khoe hanh loe, a vâ buet touh dueng ouk kaawm e,
10 being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.
a canaw kahawicalah ka khen thai e, imyin ka ngai e, tami kathoungnaw e khok ka pâsu e, rucat ka kâhmo e naw ka khenyawn e, kahawi hno kaawm e pueng ka tawk e lah awm pawiteh, lahmai lah khoe han.
11 But refuse younger widows, for whenever their passions lead them away from Christ, they desire to marry;
A kum kanaw e lahmainunaw teh, lahmainu lah khoe hanh loe. Bangkongtetpawiteh, Khrih e cangkhainae ngâi hoeh, vâ sak hanelah ngai pawiteh,
12 having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.
ahmaloe lawkkam a raphoe dawkvah, yonphukhangnae ao han.
13 Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.
Im touh hnukkhu im touh a luen awh teh, a pangak awh. Hottelah a pangak awh dueng tho laipalah, tamthoe a dei awh teh ayânaw e lai dawk a kâphum awh teh, dei kawi hoeh e hah ouk a dei awh.
14 I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for reviling.
Hatdawkvah, kanaw e lahmainu teh a vâ bout a tawn vaiteh, a canaw bout sak naseh. Ayâ ni bout pathoe hoeh nahanlah a imthung kahawicalah bout tawn naseh, pathoenae heh taran ni a tha kâla hoeh nahan lah.
15 For already some have turned aside after Satan.
Lahmainu tangawn teh, lam a payon awh teh setan hnuk a kâbang awh toe.
16 If any believing woman has widows, let her assist them, and do not let the church be burdened; that it might help those widows who are truly in need.
Ka yuem e napui hoehpawiteh, tongpa ni ama hoi kâkuen e lahmainu tawn pawiteh, khenyawn naseh. Hat pawiteh doeh, lahmainu katangnaw hah tarawknae awm laipalah, kawhmoun ni a khetyawt thai han.
17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
Kahawicalah ka uk e kacuenaw, alawkpui lah lawk pâphonae hoi cangkhainae dawkvah, panki laihoi ka tawk e kahrawikungnaw teh, let hni touh barinae lah awm awh naseh.
18 For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain." And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages."
Cakathoung ni cangkatin lahun e maitotan a pahni moum pouh hanh, thawtawkkung ni a tawknae phu hmu hanelah a kamcu, telah bout a ti.
19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder, except at the word of two or three witnesses.
Kacue ni hno a sakpayon nah, kapanuekkhaikung kahni kathum touh awmhoeh pawiteh hote yonpennae teh dâw pouh hanh loe.
20 Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.
Alouke taminaw ni a taki nahan yonnae ka sak e tami teh taminaw hmalah yue loe.
21 I command you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
Kapeknae tawn laipalah, bang patet e hno dawk hai, kâkangkhai e tawn laipalah na tawk nahan, Bawipa Jisuh Khrih hoi Cathut hmalah, rawi lah kaawm e kalvantami hmalah ka patawpoung lah na hroecoe.
22 Do not ordain anyone hastily, nor participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself pure.
Apipatet e lathueng haiyah, kuttoungnae hmatara sak pouh hanh loe. Ayâ alouknaw e lumlai dawk hai bawk hanh loe. Nama hoi nama kamthoung loe.
23 Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.
Na vonpui patawnae hoi atuhoitu na damhoehnae dawkvah, tui dueng net laipalah misurtui hai youn touh net khai loe.
24 The sins of some people are obvious, going before them to judgment, but those of others show up later.
Tami tangawn e yon teh lawkceng hoehnahlan a kamphawng toe. A tangawn e yon teh a hnukkhu doeh ouk a kamphawng.
25 In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.
Hot patetvanlah hnokahawi sak e haiyah, bangpatet teh tang a kamnue, kamnuek hoeh rae hnokahawi sak e hai hrawk thai mahoeh.
