1 Peter 3
1 In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any do not obey the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word;
Semelhantemente vós, mulheres, sede sujeitas aos vossos próprios maridos; para que também, se alguns não obedecem à palavra, pelo trato das mulheres sejam ganhos sem palavra;
2 seeing your pure behavior in fear.
Considerando o vosso casto trato em temor.
3 Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing;
O enfeite delas não seja o exterior, no encrespamento dos cabelos, ou atavio de ouro, ou compostura de vestidos;
4 but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God very precious.
Mas o homem encoberto no coração; no incorruptível de um espírito manso e quieto, que é precioso diante de Deus.
5 For this is how the holy women before, who hoped in God also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands:
Porque assim se enfeitavam também antigamente as santas mulheres que esperavam em Deus, e estavam sujeitas aos seus próprios maridos;
6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you now are, if you do well, and are not put in fear by any terror.
Como Sara obedecia a Abraão, chamando-lhe senhor; da qual vós sois feitas filhas, fazendo o bem, e não temendo nenhum espanto.
7 You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered.
Igualmente vós, maridos, coabitai com elas com entendimento, dando honra à mulher, como a vaso mais fraco; como aqueles que juntamente com elas sois herdeiros da graça da vida; para que não sejam impedidas as vossas orações.
8 Finally, be all like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble,
E, finalmente, sede todos de um mesmo sentimento, compassivos, amando os irmãos, entranhavelmente misericordiosos e afáveis.
9 not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but instead blessing; because to this were you called, that you may inherit a blessing.
Não tornando mal por mal, ou injúria por injúria; antes, pelo contrário, bendizendo: sabendo que para isto sois chamados, para que por herança alcanceis a benção.
10 For, "He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
Porque quem quer amar a vida, e ver os dias bons, refreie a sua língua do mal, e os seus lábios que não falem engano.
11 Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
Aparte-se do mal, e faça o bem; busque a paz, e siga-a.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
Porque os olhos do Senhor estão sobre os justos, e os seus ouvidos atentos às suas orações; mas o rosto do Senhor é contra os que fazem males.
13 Now who is he who will harm you, if you become zealous of that which is good?
E qual é aquele que vos fará mal, se fordes imitadores do bem?
14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not fear what they fear, nor be troubled."
Mas também, se padecerdes por amor da justiça, sois bem-aventurados. E não temais com medo deles, nem vos turbeis;
15 But sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord; and always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with humility and fear:
Antes santificai o Senhor Deus em vossos corações; e estai sempre preparados para responder com mansidão e temor a qualquer que vos pedir a razão da esperança que há em vós:
16 having a good conscience; so that when they speak evil against you, they may be put to shame who slander your good manner of life in Christ.
Tendo uma boa consciência, para que, em o que falam mal de vós, como de malfeitores, fiquem confundidos os que blasfemam do vosso bom trato em Cristo.
17 For it is better, if it is God's will, that you suffer for doing well than for doing evil.
Porque melhor é que padeçais fazendo bem (se a vontade de Deus assim o quer), do que fazendo mal.
18 Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
Porque também Cristo padeceu uma vez pelos pecados, o justo pelos injustos, para levar-nos a Deus; mortificado, na verdade, na carne, porém vivificado pelo espírito;
19 in which he also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison,
No qual também foi, e pregou aos espíritos em prisão;
20 who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the box-shaped ship was being built. In it, few, that is, eight souls, were saved by means of water.
Os quais antigamente foram rebeldes, quando a longanimidade de Deus esperava nos dias de Noé, aparelhando-se a arca; na qual poucas (isto é oito) almas se salvaram pela água;
21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you—not the removal of dirt from the body, but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Que também, como uma verdadeira figura, agora nos salva, o batismo não o do despojamento da imundícia do corpo, mas o da indagação de uma boa consciência para com Deus, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo;
22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.
O qual está à dextra de Deus, tendo subido ao céu: havendo-se-lhe sujeitado os anjos, e as autoridades, e as potências.
