< 1 Kings 1 >
1 Now king David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn't keep warm.
Awo kabaka Dawudi bwe yali akaddiye nnyo, nga ne bwe bamubikka takyabuguma,
2 Therefore his servants said to him, "Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin. And let her attend the king, and care for him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm."
abaweereza be ne bamuwa ekirowoozo nti, “Banoonyeze mukama waffe kabaka, omuwala embeerera ayimirirenga mu maaso ga kabaka era amuweerezenga; era agalamirenga mu kifuba kya mukama waffe kabaka amubugumyenga.”
3 So they sought for a beautiful young woman throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
Awo ne banoonya okubuna ensalo zonna eza Isirayiri omuwala omulungi, ne bazuula Abisaagi Omusunammu, ne bamuleetera kabaka.
4 The young woman was very beautiful; and she became the king's attendant and served him; but the king did not know her intimately.
Omuwala oyo yali mulungi nnyo; n’ajjanjabanga kabaka era n’amuweerezanga, naye kabaka teyamumanya.
5 Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king." So he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
Awo Adoniya mutabani wa Dawudi gwe yazaala mu Kaggisi ne yeegulumiza ng’ayogera nti, “Nze ndiba kabaka.” Ne yeetegekera amagaali n’abeebagala embalaasi, n’abasajja amakumi ataano ab’ebigere okuddukiranga mu maaso ge.
6 His father had never scolded him at any time by saying, "Why have you done so?" And he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.
Kitaawe n’atamunenya ku mubuuza nti, “Lwaki weeyisa bw’otyo?” Adoniya yali alabika bulungi nnyo, nga y’adda ku Abusaalomu.
7 And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest. And they followed Adonijah and helped him.
Adoniya yateesa ne Yowaabu mutabani wa Zeruyiya ne Abiyasaali kabona, ne baamuwagira.
8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
Naye Zadooki kabona, ne Benaya mutabani wa Yekoyaada, ne Nasani nnabbi, ne Simeeyi, ne Leeyi, n’abasajja ba Dawudi ab’amaanyi abalala tebaali ku ludda lwa Adoniya.
9 And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is near En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants:
Adoniya n’attira endiga n’ente n’ebyassava awali ejjinja Zokeresi eririraanye Enerogeri, n’ayita baganda be bonna, abaana ba kabaka, n’abakungu bonna aba Yuda,
10 but he did not invite Nathan the prophet, or Benaiah, or the mighty men, or his brother Solomon.
naye n’atayita Sulemaani muganda we wadde Nasani nnabbi, newaakubadde Benaya, newaakubadde abasajja ba Dawudi ab’amaanyi abalala.
11 Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Haven't you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it?
Awo Nasani n’agenda eri Basuseba nnyina Sulemaani n’amugamba nti, “Towulidde nga Adoniya mutabani wa Kaggisi alidde obwakabaka, Dawudi mukama waffe nga takimanyi?
12 Now therefore come, please let me give you advice, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.
Kale nno kankuwe amagezi, owonye obulamu bwo n’obwa mutabani wo Sulemaani.
13 Go in to king David, and tell him, 'Did you not, my lord, king, swear to your handmaid, saying, "Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne"? Why then does Adonijah reign?'
Genda eri Kabaka Dawudi, omugambe nti, ‘Mukama wange Kabaka, tewalayirira muzaana wo nti, Sulemaani mutabani wo y’alirya obwakabaka oluvannyuma lwange, era y’alituula ku ntebe yange ey’obwakabaka? Kale lwaki Adoniya alidde obwakabaka?’
14 And look, while you are still there speaking with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words."
Laba bw’onooba ng’okyayogera ne kabaka, nange nnaayingira ne nkakasa ebigambo byo.”
15 Bathsheba went in to the king into the room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was attending to the king.
Awo Basuseba n’agenda eri Kabaka, mu kisenge kye, era Kabaka yali mukadde nnyo nga Abisaagi Omusunammu amuweereza.
16 Bathsheba bowed, and showed respect to the king. The king said, "What would you like?"
Basuseba n’akka n’afukamirira kabaka. Kabaka n’amubuuza nti, “Nkukolere ki?”
17 And she said to him, "My lord, you swore by the LORD your God to your handmaid, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne.'
N’amuddamu nti, “Mukama wange, ggwe walayirira omuzaana wo eri Mukama Katonda wo nti, ‘Sulemaani mutabani wo y’alirya obwakabaka oluvannyuma lwange, era y’alituula ku ntebe yange ey’obwakabaka.’
18 Now, look, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, do not know it.
Naye kaakano Adoniya alidde obwakabaka, newaakubadde mukama wange kabaka, tokimanyi.
19 And he has sacrificed many oxen and fatlings and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the commander of the army; but he hasn't invited Solomon your servant.
Asse ente, n’ebyassava n’endiga nnyingi, era ayise abaana ba kabaka bonna, ne Abiyasaali kabona, ne Yowaabu omukulu w’eggye, naye Sulemaani omuddu wo tamuyise.
20 And now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you to announce to them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
Kaakano mukama wange kabaka, amaaso ga Isirayiri gatunuulidde gwe, okubategeeza anaatuula ku ntebe y’obwakabaka eya mukama wange kabaka, oluvannyuma lwe.
21 Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered criminals."
Bw’otookole bw’otyo, awo olulituuka, mukama wange kabaka bw’olyebakira awamu ne bajjajjaabo, nze ne mutabani wange Sulemaani tuliyitibwa babi.”
22 And look, while she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
Awo bwe yali akyayogera ne kabaka, Nasani nnabbi n’ayingira.
23 And they told the king, saying, "Look, Nathan the prophet." And when he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
Ne babuulira kabaka nti, “Nasani nnabbi ali wano.” Awo n’ayingira mu maaso ga kabaka, era n’avuunama amaaso ge mu maaso ga kabaka.
24 And Nathan said, "My lord, king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne?'
Nasani n’ayogera nti, “Mukama wange, wagamba nti Adoniya y’alirya obwakabaka oluvannyuma lwo, era y’alituula ku ntebe yo?
25 For he has gone down today and has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, and the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest. Look, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, 'Long live king Adonijah.'
Olwa leero aserengese, era asse ente, n’ebyassava n’endiga nnyingi, era ayise abaana ba kabaka bonna n’abakulu b’eggye ne Abiyasaali kabona. Mu kiseera kino balya era banywera wamu naye, nga boogera nti, ‘Kabaka Adoniya awangaale!’
26 But me, me your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not invited.
Naye nze omuddu wo, ne Zadooki kabona, ne Benaya mutabani wa Yekoyaada n’omuddu wo Sulemaani, tatuyise.
27 Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king, and you haven't told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"
Kino mukama wange kabaka, okikoze n’ototegeeza baweereza bo alituula ku ntebe ya mukama wange kabaka ey’obwakabaka, oluvannyuma lwe?”
28 Then king David answered, "Summon Bathsheba to me." So she came into the king's presence, and stood before him.
Awo Kabaka Dawudi n’addamu nti, “Muyite Basuseba.” Basuseba n’ajja awali kabaka n’ayimirira mu maaso ge.
29 And the king vowed, saying, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
Awo kabaka n’alayira ng’ayogera nti, “Nga Mukama bw’ali omulamu eyannunula mu buli kabi konna;
30 most certainly as I vowed to you by the LORD, the God of Israel, saying, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;' so I certainly will do this day."
era nga bwe nakulayirira mu maaso ga Mukama, Katonda wa Isirayiri, Sulemaani mutabani wo y’alirya obwakabaka oluvannyuma lwange, era y’alituula ku ntebe yange ey’obwakabaka mu kifo kyange.”
31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, paying homage to the king, and said, "Let my lord king David live forever."
Awo Basuseba n’avuunama ku ttaka mu maaso ga kabaka ng’agamba nti, “Mukama wange Kabaka Dawudi awangaale emirembe gyonna!”
32 And King David said, "Summon to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." They came before the king.
Kabaka Dawudi n’ayogera nti, “Muyite Zadooki kabona, ne Nasani nnabbi ne Benaya mutabani wa Yekoyaada bayingire.” Bwe bajja mu maaso ga kabaka,
33 The king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and have Solomon my son ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
n’abagamba nti, “Mutwale abaweereza ba mukama wammwe, mwebagaze Sulemaani mutabani wange ennyumbu yange, mumuserengese e Gikoni.
34 And have Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, 'Long live king Solomon.'
Zadooki kabona ne Nasani nnabbi bamufukireko eyo amafuta okuba kabaka wa Isirayiri. Mufuuwe ekkondeere era muleekaane nti, ‘Kabaka Sulemaani awangaale.’
35 Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah."
Mwambuke naye, atuule ku ntebe yange ey’obwakabaka era afuge mu kifo kyange. Mmufudde omukulembeze wa Isirayiri ne Yuda.”
36 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, "Amen. May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.
Benaya mutabani wa Yekoyaada n’addamu kabaka nti, “Amiina! Mukama Katonda wa mukama wange kabaka akituukirize.
37 As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David."
Mukama nga bwe yabeeranga ne mukama wange kabaka, abeere ne Sulemaani okufuula entebe ye ey’obwakabaka ey’ekitiibwa n’okusinga entebe ey’obwakabaka eya mukama wange Kabaka Dawudi!”
38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
39 Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, "Long live king Solomon."
Zadooki kabona n’aggya ejjembe ery’amafuta mu weema, n’afuka amafuta ku Sulemaani. Awo ne bafuuwa ekkondeere, abantu bonna ne baleekaana mu ddoboozi ery’omwanguka nti, “Kabaka Sulemaani awangaale.”
40 All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth split open at their sound.
Abantu bonna ne bambuka okumugoberera nga bafuuwa endere, era nga basanyuka essanyu lingi, ettaka n’okwatika ne lyatika olw’oluyoogaano olunene.
41 Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, "Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?"
Adoniya n’abagenyi be bonna ne bawulira oluyoogaano bwe baali nga bamaliriza okulya. Yowaabu bwe yawulira eddoboozi ly’ekkondeere, n’abuuza nti, “Ekibuga nga kiyoogaana?”
42 While he yet spoke, look, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came: and Adonijah said, "Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news."
Awo bwe yali ng’akyayogera laba, Yonasaani mutabani wa Abiyasaali kabona n’atuuka. Adoniya n’ayogera nti, “Yingira kubanga omusajja omulungi nga ggwe ateekwa kuba ng’aleese mawulire malungi.”
43 Jonathan answered Adonijah, "No. Our lord king David has made Solomon king.
Yonasaani n’addamu nti, “Nedda. Mukama waffe Kabaka Dawudi, obwakabaka abuwadde Sulemaani,
44 The king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king's mule.
era kabaka atumye Zadooki kabona, ne Nasani nnabbi, ne Benaya mutabani wa Yekoyaada, n’Abakeresi n’Abaperesi, okugenda naye nga bamwebagazza ennyumbu ya kabaka.
45 Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.
Zadooki kabona ne Nasani nnabbi bamufukiddeko amafuta e Gikoni, era bambuse okuvaayo nga bajaguza, n’ekibuga kiwuumira ddala. Okwo kwe kuleekaana kwe muwulira.
46 Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.
Kaakano Sulemaani atudde ku ntebe ey’obwakabaka.
47 Moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, 'May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;' and the king bowed himself on the bed.
N’abakungu ba kabaka bazze okusanyukirako mukama waffe Kabaka Dawudi, nga boogera nti, ‘Katonda wo afuule erinnya lya Sulemaani ekkulu n’okusinga eriryo era n’entebe ye ey’obwakabaka enkulu n’okusinga eyiyo!’ Era Kabaka akutamye ng’asinza ku kitanda kye,
48 Also thus said the king, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.'"
n’agamba nti, ‘Yeebazibwe Mukama, Katonda wa Isirayiri, akkirizza amaaso gange okulaba omusika ku ntebe yange ey’obwakabaka leero.’”
49 All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.
Abagenyi ba Adoniya bonna olwawulira ebyo ne beekanga nnyo, ne basituka ne basaasaana.
50 Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
Adoniya n’aggwaamu amaanyi olwa Sulemaani okulya obwakabaka, era n’agenda ne yeekwata ku mayembe g’ekyoto.
51 It was told Solomon, saying, "Look, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for, look, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let king Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.'"
Awo ne babuulira Sulemaani nti, “Adoniya atidde kabaka Sulemaani era yeekutte ku mayembe g’ekyoto. Agambye nti, ‘Kabaka Sulemaani andayirire leero nti tajja kutta muddu we n’ekitala.’”
52 Solomon said, "If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die."
Sulemaani n’addamu nti, “Bw’alyeraga okuba omusajja omulungi, tewaliba luviiri lwe na lumu oluligwa wansi; naye bw’alirabikamu ekibi, alifa.”
53 So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, "Go to your house."
Awo Kabaka Sulemaani n’atuma abasajja, ne baggya Adoniya ku kyoto. N’ajja n’avuunamira kabaka Sulemaani, Sulemaani n’amugamba nti, “Weddireyo ewuwo.”
