Psalms 98

1 [A Psalm.] Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand, and his holy arm, have worked salvation for him.

Syngið nýjan söng fyrir Drottin því að hann hefur unnið dásamlegt verk! Hann er sigursæll í mætti sínum og heilagleika.

2 The LORD has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Hann hefur tilkynnt sigur sinn – birt þjóðunum réttlæti sitt.

3 He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. Every part of the earth has seen the salvation of our God.

Hann hefur miskunnað lýð sínum, haldið loforð sín til Ísrael. Allur heimurinn sá er Guð bjargaði þjóð sinni.

4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth. Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises.

Þess vegna hefja löndin fagnaðarsöng, syngja og lofa hann af öllu hjarta.

5 Sing praises to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the voice of melody.

Syngið Drottni við undirleik hörpu.

6 With trumpets and sound of the ram's horn, make a joyful noise before the King, the LORD.

Blásið í lúðra og básúnur gjalli! Hljómsveitin spili lofgjörðarlag. Hyllið Drottin, konunginn!

7 Let the sea roar with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell in it.

Hafið drynji og lofi Drottin! Jörðin og íbúar hennar reki upp fagnaðaróp!

8 Let the rivers clap their hands. Let the mountains sing for joy together.

Fossarnir klappi lof í lófa og klettarnir syngi gleðisöng,

9 Let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

því að Drottinn mun dæma heiminn í réttlæti sínu og af réttvísi.
