< Psalms 3 >

1 [A Psalm by David, when he fled from Absalom his son.] LORD, how my adversaries have increased. Many rise up against me.
Adonai, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me.
2 Many there are who say of my soul, "There is no salvation for him in God." (Selah)
Many there are who say of my soul, “There is no yishu'ah ·salvation· for him in God.” (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·
3 But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
But you, Adonai, are a shield around me, my kavod ·weighty glory·, and the one who lifts up my head.
4 I cried out to the LORD with my voice, and he answered me from his holy mountain. (Selah)
I cry to Adonai with my voice, and he answers me out of his holy hill. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·
5 I lay down and slept. I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.
I laid myself down and slept. I awakened; for Adonai sustains me.
6 I am not afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me on every side.
I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who have set themselves against me on every side.
7 Arise, LORD. Save me, my God. For you slap all my enemies in the face. You break the teeth of the wicked.
Arise, Adonai! Save me, my God! For you have struck all of my enemies on the cheek bone. You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
8 Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon your people. (Selah)
Yishu'ah ·Salvation· belongs to Adonai. Your blessing be on your people. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·
