< Proverbs 15 >

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Et mildt Svar dæmper Vrede; men et bittert Ord vækker Fortørnelse.
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly.
De vises Tunge giver god Kundskab, men Daarers Mund udgyder Taabelighed.
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
Herrens Øjne ere alle Vegne, og de beskue onde og gode.
4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
Tungens Blidhed er et Livsens Træ; men Forvendthed ved den er Sønderknuselse i Aanden.
5 A fool despises his father's correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
Daaren foragter sin Faders Tugtelse; men den, som agter paa Revselse, handler klogt.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
I den retfærdiges Hus er meget Gods; men der er Forstyrrelse i den ugudeliges Indtægt.
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
De vises Læber udstrø Kundskab; men Daarernes Hjerte er ikke saa.
8 The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
De ugudeliges Offer er Herren en Vederstyggelighed; men de oprigtiges Bøn er ham en Velbehagelighed.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
De ugudeliges Vej er Herren en Vederstyggelighed; men den, som stræber efter Retfærdighed, elsker han:
10 There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way: whoever hates reproof shall die.
Streng Tugt venter den, som forlader Stien; den, som hader Irettesættelse, skal dø.
11 Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD—how much more then the hearts of human beings. (Sheol h7585)
Dødsriget og Afgrunden ligge aabenbare for Herren, meget mere Menneskens Børns Hjerter. (Sheol h7585)
12 A scoffer doesn't love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
En Spotter elsker ikke den, som sætter ham i Rette, han gaar ikke til de vise.
13 A glad heart makes a cheerful face; but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
Et glad Hjerte gør Ansigtet livligt; men ved Hjertets Bekymring nedslaas Modet.
14 The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
Den forstandiges Hjerte søger Kundskab, men Daarers Mund finder Behag i Taabelighed.
15 All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
Alle den elendiges Dage ere onde; men et glad Hjerte er et bestandigt Gæstebud.
16 Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.
Bedre er lidet med Herrens Frygt end stort Liggendefæ med Uro.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
Bedre er en Ret grønne Urter, naar der er Kærlighed hos, end en fed Okse, naar der er Had hos.
18 A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
En hidsig Mand opvækker Trætte, men en langmodig dæmper Kiv.
19 The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
Den lades Vej er som et Tjørnegærde; men de oprigtiges Sti er banet.
20 A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
En viis Søn glæder sin Fader; men et daarligt Menneske foragter sin Moder.
21 Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
Daarskab er en Glæde for den, som fattes Forstand, men en forstandig Mand vandrer ret frem.
22 Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
Anslag blive til intet, naar der ikke er holdt Raad; men hvor der er mange Raadgivere, der bestaa de.
23 Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time.
Glæde har en Mand af sin Munds Svar; og et Ord i rette Tid — hvor godt!
24 The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Livsens Vej opadtil gaar den forstandige for at undgaa Dødsriget nedadtil. (Sheol h7585)
25 The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow's borders intact.
Herren nedriver de hovmodiges Hus; men han stadfæster Enkens Landemærke.
26 The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
Den ondes Anslag ere Herren en Vederstyggelighed; men Lifligheds Ord ere rene.
27 He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
Den, som jager efter Vinding, forstyrrer sit Hus; men den, som hader Gaver, skal leve.
28 The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
Den retfærdiges Hjerte betænker sig paa at svare; men de ugudeliges Mund udgyder onde Ting.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
Herren er langt borte fra de ugudelige, men hører de retfærdiges Bøn.
30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
Lys for Øjnene glæder Hjertet; et godt Budskab giver Marv i Benene.
31 The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.
Det Øre, som hører efter Irettesættelse til Livet, han tager Bo midt iblandt de vise.
32 He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
Den, som lader Tugt fare, foragter sin Sjæl; men den, som hører efter Irettesættelse, forhverver sig Forstand.
33 The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
Herrens Frygt er Tugt til Visdom, og Ydmyghed gaar foran Ære.
