Nehemiah 5

1 Then there arose a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brothers the Jews.

۱ و قوم و زنان ایشان، بر برادران یهود خودفریاد عظیمی برآوردند.

2 For there were that said, "We, our sons and our daughters, are many. Let us get grain, that we may eat and live."

۲ و بعضی ازایشان گفتند که «ما و پسران و دختران ما بسیاریم. پس گندم بگیریم تا بخوریم و زنده بمانیم.»

3 Some also there were that said, "We are mortgaging our fields, and our vineyards, and our houses. Let us get grain, because of the famine."

۳ وبعضی گفتند: «مزرعه‌ها و تاکستانها و خانه های خود را گرو می‌دهیم تا به‌سبب قحط، گندم بگیریم.»

4 There were also some who said, "We have borrowed money for the king's tribute using our fields and our vineyards as collateral.

۴ و بعضی گفتند که «نقره را به عوض مزرعه‌ها و تاکستانهای خود برای جزیه پادشاه قرض گرفتیم.

5 Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children as their children. Look, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters have been brought into bondage. Neither is it in our power to help it; for other men have our fields and our vineyards."

۵ و حال جسد ما مثل جسدهای برادران ماست و پسران ما مثل پسران ایشان واینک ما پسران و دختران خود را به بندگی می‌سپاریم و بعضی از دختران ما کنیز شده‌اند ودر دست ما هیچ استطاعتی نیست زیرا که مزرعه‌ها و تاکستانهای ما از آن دیگران شده است.»

6 I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.

۶ پس چون فریاد ایشان و این سخنان را شنیدم بسیار غضبناک شدم.

7 Then I consulted with myself, and contended with the nobles and the rulers, and said to them, "You exact usury, everyone of his brother." I held a great assembly against them.

۷ و با دل خود مشورت کرده، بزرگان و سروران را عتاب نمودم و به ایشان گفتم: «شما هر کس از برادر خود ربا می‌گیرید!» وجماعتی عظیم به ضد ایشان جمع نمودم.

8 I said to them, "We, after our ability, have redeemed our brothers the Jews that were sold to the nations; and would you even sell your brothers, and should they be sold to us?" Then they held their peace, and found never a word.

۸ و به ایشان گفتم: «ما برادران یهود خود را که به امت هافروخته شده‌اند، حتی المقدور فدیه کرده‌ایم. وآیا شما برادران خود را می‌فروشید و آیا می‌شودکه ایشان به ما فروخته شوند؟» پس خاموش شده، جوابی نیافتند.

9 Also I said, "The thing that you do is not good. Ought you not to walk in the fear of our God, to prevent the taunts of the nations our enemies?

۹ و گفتم: «کاری که شما می‌کنید خوب نیست، آیا نمی باید شما به‌سبب ملامت امت هایی که دشمن ما می‌باشند، در ترس خدای ما سلوک نمایید؟

10 I likewise, my brothers and my servants, lend them money and grain. Please let us stop this usury.

۱۰ و نیز من و برادران و بندگانم نقره و غله به ایشان قرض داده‌ایم. پس سزاواراست که این ربا را ترک نماییم.

11 Please restore to them, even this day, their fields, their vineyards, their olive groves, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the grain, the new wine, and the oil, that you are charging them."

۱۱ و الان امروزمزرعه‌ها و تاکستانها و باغات زیتون و خانه های ایشان و صد یک از نقره و غله و عصیر انگور وروغن که بر ایشان نهاده‌اید به ایشان رد کنید.»

12 Then they said, "We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do, even as you say." Then I called the cohanim, and took an oath of them, that they would do according to this promise.

۱۲ پس جواب دادند که «رد خواهیم کرد و ازایشان مطالبه نخواهیم نمود و چنانکه تو فرمودی به عمل خواهیم آورد.» آنگاه کاهنان را خوانده، به ایشان قسم دادم که بروفق این کلام رفتارنمایند.

13 Also I shook out my lap, and said, "So may God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that doesn't perform this promise; even thus be he shaken out, and emptied." All the assembly said, "Amen," and praised the LORD. The people did according to this promise.

۱۳ پس دامن خود را تکانیده گفتم: «خداهر کس را که این کلام را ثابت ننماید، از خانه وکسبش چنین بتکاند و به این قسم تکانیده و خالی بشود.» پس تمامی جماعت گفتند آمین وخداوند را تسبیح خواندند و قوم برحسب این کلام عمل نمودند.

14 Moreover from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artachshasta the king, that is, twelve years, I and my brothers have not eaten the bread of the governor.

۱۴ و نیز از روزی که به والی بودن زمین یهوه مامور شدم، یعنی از سال بیستم تا سال سی و دوم ارتحشستا پادشاه، که دوازده سال بود من وبرادرانم وظیفه والیگری را نخوردیم.

15 But the former governors who were before me were supported by the people, and took bread and wine from them, besides forty shekels of silver; yes, even their servants ruled over the people: but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.

۱۵ اماوالیان اول که قبل از من بودند بر قوم بار سنگین نهاده، علاوه بر چهل مثقال نقره، نان و شراب نیزاز ایشان می‌گرفتند و خادمان ایشان بر قوم حکمرانی می‌کردند. لیکن من به‌سبب ترس خداچنین نکردم.

16 Yes, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants were gathered there to the work.

۱۶ و من نیز در ساختن حصارمشغول می‌بودم و هیچ مزرعه نخریدیم و همه بندگان من در آنجا به‌کار جمع بودند.

17 Moreover there were at my table, of the Jews and the rulers, one hundred fifty men, besides those who came to us from among the nations that were around us.

۱۷ و صد وپنجاه نفر از یهودیان و سروران، سوای آنانی که ازامت های مجاور ما نزد ما می‌آمدند، بر سفره من خوراک می‌خوردند.

18 Now that which was prepared for one day was one ox and six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I did not demand the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy on this people.

۱۸ و آنچه برای هر روز مهیامی شد، یک گاو و شش گوسفند پرواری می‌بود ومرغها نیز برای من حاضر می‌کردند و هر ده روز مقداری کثیر از هر گونه شراب. اما معهذا وظیفه والیگری را نطلبیدم زیرا که بندگی سخت بر این قوم می‌بود.

19 Remember to me, my God, for good, all that I have done for this people.

۱۹ ‌ای خدایم موافق هر‌آنچه به این قوم عمل نمودم مرا به نیکویی یاد آور.
