< Luke 1 >
1 Since many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us,
Do bhrígh gur ghabhadar mórán do láimh sdair do sgríobhadh air na neithibh agá bhfuil a sáirfhios aguinne,
2 even as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word delivered them to us,
Do réir mar thugadar na dáoine do chonnairc lé na súilibh rein ó thús, agus do bhí ag miniosdrálachd na bréithre, dhúinne íad;
3 it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus;
Do chonncas damhsa mar an gceudna, a Theophilus ro oirdheirc, ar bhfagháil feasa iomlan gach uile neithe ó na bhfíorthosach dhamh, a sgríobhadh chugadsa a nórdughadh,
4 that you might know the certainty concerning the things in which you were instructed.
Do chum go mbía deimhin na mbriathar, do múineadh dhuit agad
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain cohen named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisheva.
Re linn Iorúaith, rí thire Iúdaighe, do bhí sagart airighe dár bhainm Sacharías, do sheal Abía: agus a bhean dingheanuibh Aaróin, agus, Elísabet do baimn dhi.
6 They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord.
Agus do bhádar a ráon nit ndáoinibh fíreanta a bhfíadhnuisi Dé, ag siobhal go neimhchiontach ann uile aitheantuibh agus órduighthibh an Tighearna.
7 But they had no child, because Elisheva was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.
Agus ní raíbh, shiochd orrtha, do bhrígh go raibh Elisábet aimrid agus go raibh áois mhór aca ar áon.
8 Now it happened, while he was performing the office of cohen before God in the order of his division,
Agus tárla, an tan do bhí sé ag déanamh oifige an tsagairt a bhfiadhnuisi Déann a sheal fein,
9 according to the custom of the office of cohen, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
Do réir ghnáthuighthe oifige an tsagairt, go ráinic dhó an túis do losgadh tar éis dul a sdeach go teampoll an Tighearna dhó.
10 And the whole crowd of people were praying outside at the hour of incense.
Agus do bhí coimhthionól an phubail uile ag déanamh úrnuighe a muigh a naimsir na túise.
11 An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
Agus do taidhbhreadh dhó aingeal an Tighearna na sheasamh ar an dtáoibh ndeas daltóir na túise.
12 Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.
Agus ar na fhaicsin do Shacharías, do bhí sé ar na bhúaidhreadh, agus do ghlac eagla é.
13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elisheva, will bear you a son, and you are to name him John.
Achd a dubhairt an taingeal ris, Ná bíodh eagla ort, a Shacharías: óir do héisdeadh húrnuighe; agus béaruidh do bhean Elisábet mac dhuit, agus do bhéara tú Eóin mar ainm air.
14 You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth.
Agus budh gáirdeachus agus lúathgháire dhuit é; agus biaidh lúathghaire ar mhóran fa na bhreith.
15 For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he must never drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh, even from his mother's womb.
Oir bíaidh sé na dhuine mhór a bhfíadhnuisi an Tighearna, agus ni íobha sé fíon na deoch láidir; agus fós bíaidh sé lan don Spiorad Náomh, ó bhroinn a mháthar.
16 He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God.
Agus fillfidh sé mórán do chlannuibh Israél chum an Tighearna a Ndia féin.
17 He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
Oir géubhaidh seisean roimhesan a spioraid agus a shubháilce Elias, dfilleadh chroidheadh na naithreach chum na cloinne, agus na neasmhal chum gliocuis na dáoine gcomhthrom; agus dullmhughadh phobuil dhiongmhálta don Tighearna.
18 Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."
Agus a dubhairt Sacharías ris an aingeal, Cionnas bhías a fhios so agamsa? óir a táim um dhuine arsuidh, agus a tá áois mhór ag am mhnáoi.
19 The angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news.
Agus ar bhfreagra don aingeal a dubhairt sé ris, Is misi Gabríel, sheasas a bhfíadhnuisi Dé; agus do cuireadh mé do labhairt riotsa, agus dinnsin na núaidheachd maith so dhuit.
20 Look, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time."
Agus, féuch, bíaidh tú gan úrlabhra, agus ní bá héidir leachd labhairt, go soithe an lá an a dtiocfaid na neithe so chum críche, do bhrígh nar chréid tu dom bhríathraibhsi, noch coimhlíonfuighear na nam féin.
21 The people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering why he was delayed in the temple.
Agus do bhí an pobal ag fuireach ré Sacharías, agus do biongnadh léo an fad do fhan sé sa teampoll.
22 When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.
Agus ar ndul a mach dhó, nír bhéidir leis labhairt ríu: agus do aithnigheadar go bhfacaidh sé taidhbhsi sa teampoll: óir do sméid sé orrtha, agus do fhan sé balbh.
23 It happened, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house.
Agus tárla dhó, an tan do coimhlionadh laéthe a mhiniosdrálachda, go ndeachaidh sé dhá thigh féin.
24 After these days Elisheva, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying,
Agus tar éis na laethesi, do toirrcheadh Elisabet a bheansân, agus do fholaigh si í féin ar feadh chuig mios, ag rádh,
25 "Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my disgrace among people."
Oír is mar so do rinne an Tighearna rium ann sna laethibh an ar fhéuch sé oram, do thógbháil mo neimhcheana dhiom a measg na ndáoine.
26 Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galil, named Natzeret,
Agus an sa seisiodh mi, do cuireadh an taingeall Gabríel ó Dhía go cathruigh don Ghalilé, dár bainm Násaret,
27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Miriam.
Dionnsuighe óighe ar a raibh ceart ag fear do thigh Dháibhí, dár aínm Ióseph; agus do bé do bainm do nóigh, Muire.
28 Having come in, the angel said to her, "Greetings, favored one. The Lord is with you."
Agus ar ndul a sdeach dit hionnsuighe do naingeal, a dubhairt se, Dia do bheatha a ógh roghrásamhuil: a tá an Tighearna maille riot: is beannuighe thú eidir na mnáibh.
29 But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of greeting this might be.
Agus an tan do chonnairc sí é, do bhí sí ar na búaidhreadh fá na bhriathraibh, agus do bhí sí ag smúaineadh créd an ghné bheannughtheaso.
30 The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Miriam, for you have found favor with God.
Agus a dubhairt an taineal ria, Ná bíodh eagla ort, a Mhuire: óir fúair tú grása ó Dhía.
31 And look, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name 'Yeshua.'
Agus, féuch, bíaidh tú torrach ad bhruinn, agus béaraidh tú mac, agus do bhéara tú IOSA dainm air.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,
Bíaidh se mór, agus goirfidhear Mac an té is Airde dhe: agus do bhéura an Tighearna Día caithír Dháibhí, athar féin dhó.
33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom." (aiōn )
Agus bíaidh sé na righ ar thigh Iácob go bráth; agus ní bhía deireadh ar a ríoghachd. (aiōn )
34 Miriam said to the angel, "How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?"
Agus a dubhairt Muire ris a naingeal, Cionnas bhías so, óir ní bhfuil fios fir agamsa?
35 The angel answered her, "The Ruach ha-Kodesh will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born will be called the Son of God.
Agus ar bhfreagra do naingeal a dubhairt se ría, Tuirléonguidh an Spiorad Náomh ort, agus foiléochaidh cumhachda an té as Airde thú: uime sin an ní náomhtha bhéaras tú goirfighear Mac Dé dhe.
36 And look, Elisheva, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
Agus, féuch, Elisabet do shiur, a tá sisi leis torrach air mhac ann a hárrsuigheachd: agus is sé so an seisiodh mí don mhnáoi úd, dá ngoirthear bean aimrid.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible."
Oír ní bhía ní ar bith doidhéunta do Dhia.
38 And Miriam said, "See, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word." The angel departed from her.
Agus a dubhairt Muire, Féuch, banóglach an Tighearna; teagmhadh dhamhsa do réir do bhréithrisi. Agus do imthigh an taingeal úaithe.
39 Miriam arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,
Agus an tan do éirigh Muire ann sna laéthibh sin, do chúaidh sí go dheíthneasach chois sléibhe, go cathraigh Iúda;
40 and entered into the house of Zechariah and greeted Elisheva.
Agus do chúaidh sí a steach go tigh Shacharías, agus do bheannaigh si Délisabet.
41 It happened, when Elisheva heard Miriam's greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elisheva was filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh.
Agus tarla, mar do chúalaidh Elisabet beannughadh Mhuire, gur bhíog an náoidheanán ann a broinn; agus do bhí Elisábet air na líonadh don Spiorad Naomh.
42 She called out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
Agus do éigh sí do ghuth mhór, agus a dubhairt si, Is beannaighthe thú eidir na mnáibh, agus is beannaighthe toradh do bhronn,
43 Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
Agus cionnus do éirigh so dhamsa, go dtiocfadh matháir mo Thighearna féin chugam?
44 For look, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.
Oir, féueh, comhlúath is tháinic fúaim do bheannaighthe am chlúasaibh, do bhíog an náoidheanán lé gáirdeachus ann mo bhroinn.
45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord."
Agus is beannaighthe au bhean do chreid: óir coimhlionfuidhear na neithe do gheall an Tighearna dhi.
46 Miriam said, "My soul magnifies the Lord.
Agus a dubhairt Muire, Adhmolaidh manam an Tighearna,
47 And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
Agus do ní mo spiorad gáirdeachus a Ndía mó Shlánuightheóir.
48 for he has looked at the humble state of his servant girl. For look, from now on all generations will call me blessed.
Do bhrígh gur fhéuch sé ar úmhla a bhanóglaighe f é in: oír, féuch, ó so súas goirfid na huile chine beannuighthe dhíom.
49 For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
Oir do rinne an té a tá cumhachdach neithe móra dhamhsa, agos is náomhtha a ainm.
50 His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him.
Agus a tá a thrócaire ó dhíne go díne don dréim ar a bhfuil a eagla.
51 He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
Do rinne sé gníomh láidir lé na láimh; do spréigh sé na dáoine úraibhreacha a smúaintighe a gcroidheadh féin.
52 He has put down princes from their thrones. And has exalted the lowly.
Do tharruing sé na dáoine cumhachdacha as a gcaithiribh, agus do árduigh sé na dáoine umhla.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty.
Do líon sé na dáoine ocracha lé, neithibh maithe; agus do chuir sé úadh na dáoine saidhbhre folumh.
54 He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy,
Do thóg sé súas Israél a shearbhfhoghantuidhe féin, do chuimhniughadh ar a thrócaire;
55 As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever." (aiōn )
(Mar do labhair sé ré ar naith-reachuibh, Abraham, agus ré na shíol go bráth.) (aiōn )
56 Miriam stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house.
Agus do fhan Muire na fochair timcheall thrí míos, agus do fhill sí dhá tigh féin.
57 Now the time that Elisheva should give birth was fulfilled, and she brought forth a son.
Agus táinic ionbhuidh Elisabet ion ar mhídhid dhigh breath; agus rug sí mac.
58 Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her.
Agus do chúaladar a comharsain agus a dáoine gáoil, gur fhoillsigh an Tighearna a thrócaire mhór féin di; agus do rinneadar gáirdeachus má ráon ria.
59 It happened on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zechariah, after the name of the father.
Agus tárrla, go dtangadar air a nochdmhadh lá do chum go ndéanaídís an náoidhe do thimcheallghearrádh; agus do ghoireadar Sacharias de, do reir anma a athair.
60 His mother answered, "Not so; but he will be called John."
Achd ar bhfreagra dhá mháthair a dubhairt sí, Ni hámhluidh bhías; achd Eóin goirfidhear dhe.
61 They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name."
Agus a dubhradar ría, Ní bhfuil éannduine dod chineadh dá ngoirthear an tainmsi.
62 They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.
Agus do rinneadar comhartha dhá athair, créd an tainm bá mían leis do thabhairt air.
63 And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they were all amazed.
Agus ar níarruidh cláir sgriobhtha dhosan, do sgríobh sé, ag rádh, Is Eóin is ainm dhó. Agus do ghabh iongantus íad uile.
64 His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God.
Agus ar an mball do hosgladh a bhéulsan, agus a theanga, agus do labhair sé, ag moladb Dé.
65 Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.
Agus do ghabh eagla a gcomharsuin uile: agus do haithriseadh na neithe so uile chois tsléibhe thíre Iúdaighe uile.
66 All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, "What then will this child be?" The hand of the Lord was with him.
Agus gach uile dhuine dhá gcúalaidh sin, do chuireadar a dtaisgidh an a gcroidhthibh féin iad, ag rádh, Créd é an sórt leinibh bhias so! Agus do bhí lámh an Tighearna maille ris.
67 His father, Zechariah, was filled with the Ruach ha-Kodesh, and prophesied, saying,
Agus do bhí Sacharías athair, lán don Spíorad Náomh, agus do rinne sé faidheadóireachd ag rádh,
68 "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and worked redemption for his people;
Go madh beannaighe au Tighearna Día Israel; ar son gur fhiosruigh sé agus gur fhúasgail sé a phobal féin,
69 and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David
Augs do thóg sé súas adharc na sláinte dhúinne a dtigh Dháibhi a shearbhfhoghantuidhe féin;
70 (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old), (aiōn )
Do réir mar do labhair sé tré bhéul a fháidheadh náomhtha féin, do bhí ann ó thús an domáin: (aiōn )
71 salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;
Ga gcuimhdéochadh sé sinn ó ar naimhdibh, agus ó láimh gach uile dhuine agá bhfuil fúath dhuinn;
72 to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant,
Go ndéanadh sé trócaire air ar naithreachuibh, agus go gcuimbnéochadh sé a thiomna náomhtha féin;
73 the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father,
Agus ar an mionna lé a dtug sé móid Dábrahám ar nathairne, go dtiubhradh sé dhúinn,
74 to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,
Go mbémís gan eagla air ar sáoradh ó láimh ar námhad do chum seirbhisi do déanamh dhó féin,
75 In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
A náomhthachd agus a bhfíréantacld na fhíadhnuisiséan, a laéthibh ar mbeatha uile.
76 And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to make ready his ways,
Agus tusa, a leinibh, goirfithear diot faídh an té as Airde: óir rachuidh tú roimh aghaidh an Thighearna dullmhughadh a shligheadh;
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins,
Do thabhairt éolus na sláinte dá phobal tré mhaitheamhnus na bpeacadh,
78 because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dawn from on high will visit us,
Tré thrócaire ro mhóir ar Ndia féin; lér fhiosruigh sé sinn ag éirghe ón ionad árd,
79 to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace."
Do thabhairt soillsi don droing do bhí na suidhe a ndorchadas agus a sgáile an bháis, agus do dhíorghadh ar gcos a slighe na síothchána.
80 The child was growing, and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.
Agus do fhás an leanabh, agus do neartuigheadh é a spíoruid, agus do bhí sé ar na fásuighibh go soithe an lá an ar fhoillsigh sé é féin Dísraél.
