< Joshua 5 >

1 And it happened, when all the kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, who were by the sea, heard how that the LORD had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel, until they had passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
Mafumu onse a Aamori, a kummawa kwa Yorodani ndi mafumu onse a Akanaani a mʼmbali mwa Nyanja anamva momwe Yehova anawumitsira Yorodani pamene Aisraeli ankawoloka. Choncho anachita mantha ndi kutayiratu mtima chifukwa cha Aisraeliwo.
2 At that time, the LORD said to Joshua, "Make flint knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time."
Tsono Yehova anati kwa Yoswa, “Panga mipeni ya miyala ndipo uchitenso mwambo wa mdulidwe pa Aisraeli.”
3 Joshua made himself flint knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the Hill of the Foreskins.
Choncho Yoswa anapanga mipeni ya miyala ndi kuchita mdulidwe Aisraeli ku Gibeyati Haaraloti.
4 This is the reason Joshua circumcised: all the people who came out of Egypt, who were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.
Chifukwa chimene Yoswa anachitira izi ndi ichi: Onse amene anatuluka mʼdziko la Igupto, amuna onse amene anali oyenera kumenya nkhondo anatha kufa mʼchipululu atatuluka mʼdziko la Igupto.
5 For all the people who came out were circumcised; but all the people who were born in the wilderness by the way as they came out of Egypt had not been circumcised.
Anthu onse amene anatuluka mʼdziko la Igupto anali atachita mwambo wa mdulidwe, koma onse amene anabadwira mʼchipululu, pa ulendo wochoka ku Igupto, sanachite.
6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished, because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD, those to whom the LORD swore that they would not see the land which the LORD swore to their ancestors that he would give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
Aisraeli anakhala akuyenda mʼchipululu kwa zaka makumi anayi mpaka amuna onse amene potuluka mʼdziko la Igupto anali a msinkhu woyenera kupita ku nkhondo anamwalira. Iwo anafa chifukwa sanamvere mawu a Yehova. Yehova anawalumbirira kuti sadzalowa konse mʼdziko loyenda mkaka ndi uchi limene analonjeza kwa makolo awo kuti adzatipatsa.
7 And their children, whom he raised up in their place, were circumcised by Joshua; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them on the way.
Koma ana awo amene analowa mʼmalo mwawo ndiwo amene Yoswa anawachita mdulidwe popeza sanachite pamene anali pa ulendo wawo mʼchipululu muja.
8 And it happened, when they were done circumcising all the nation, that they stayed in their places in the camp until they were healed.
Atamaliza kuchita mdulidwe uja, anthu onse anakakhala ku misasa yawo kudikira kuti zilonda zipole.
9 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I have rolled away the disgrace of Egypt from off you." Therefore the name of that place was called Gilgal, to this day.
Kenaka Yehova anati kwa Yoswa, “Kuyambira tsopano anthu a ku Igupto sadzakunyozaninso.” Nʼchifukwa chake malowa anatchedwa Giligala mpaka lero.
10 The children of Israel camped in Gilgal. They kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at evening in the plains of Jericho.
Akupumulabe ku Giligala kuja mʼchigwa cha Yeriko, Aisraeli anachita chikondwerero cha Paska madzulo pa tsiku la 14 la mwezi woyamba womwewo.
11 They ate unleavened cakes and parched grain of the produce of the land on the next day after the Passover, in the same day.
Mmawa mwake ndi pamene anayamba kudya zakudya za mʼdziko la Kanaani. Anaphika buledi wopanda yisiti ndi kukazinga tirigu tsiku lomwelo.
12 The manna ceased on the next day, after they had eaten of the produce of the land. The children of Israel did not have manna any more; but they ate of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
Atangodya chakudya cha mʼdzikomo, mana anasiya kugwa, ndipo sanapezekenso. Kuyambira nthawi imeneyo Aisraeli anayamba kudya chakudya cha mʼdziko la Kanaani.
13 It happened, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and look, a man stood in front of him with his sword drawn in his hand. Joshua went to him, and said to him, "Are you for us, or for our adversaries?"
Tsiku lina pamene Yoswa anali pafupi ndi Yeriko, anakweza maso ake ndipo mwadzidzidzi anaona munthu atayima patsogolo pake ndi lupanga losolola mʼdzanja lake. Yoswa anapita pamene panali munthuyo ndipo anamufunsa kuti, “Kodi uli mbali yathu kapena ya adani athu?”
14 And he said to him, "Truly I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come." And Joshua fell facedown to the ground and worshipped, and said to him, "What does my lord say to his servant?"
Iye anayankha kuti “Sindili mbali iliyonse. Ndabwera monga mkulu wa asilikali a Yehova.” Pomwepo Yoswa anadzigwetsa chafufumimba kupereka ulemu, ndipo anamufunsa, “Kodi mbuye wanga muli ndi uthenga wotani kwa mtumiki wanu?”
15 The commander of the army of the LORD said to Joshua, "Take your shoes off of your feet; for the place on which you stand is holy." Joshua did so.
Mkulu wa asilikali a Yehova uja anayankha kuti, “Vula nsapato zako, pakuti wayima pa malo wopatulika.” Ndipo Yoswa anachitadi zimene anawuzidwazo.
