Isaiah 60

1 "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.

Resplendis, Jérusalem, resplendis de lumière; car ta lumière est venue, et la gloire du Seigneur s'est levée sur toi.

2 For, look, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you.

Voilà que les ténèbres enveloppent la terre, et que les Gentils sont dans l'obscurité; mais le Seigneur apparaîtra sur toi, et sa gloire va se montrer en toi.

3 Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Et les rois viendront à ta lumière, et les nations à ta splendeur.

4 "Lift up your eyes all around, and see: they all gather themselves together, they come to you; your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be carried in the arms.

Lève les yeux autour de toi, et vois tes enfants rassemblés; tous tes fils sont venus de loin, et tes filles seront transportées sur les épaules des hommes.

5 Then you shall see and be radiant, and your heart shall thrill and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you.

Tu verras alors, et tu seras dans l'admiration, et tu seras extasiée en ton cœur; car les richesses de la mer, des nations et des peuples seront transportées chez toi.

6 The multitude of camels shall cover you, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come; they shall bring gold and frankincense, and shall proclaim the praises of the LORD.

Et il te viendra des troupeaux de chamelles, et des chameaux de Madian et de Gépha couvriront tes chemins. Tous les hommes de Saba viendront chargés d'or, et t'offriront de l'encens, et publieront la bonne nouvelle du salut de Dieu.

7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; they shall come up with acceptance on my altar; and I will glorify the house of my glory.

Et toutes les brebis de Cédar seront rassemblées, et les béliers de Nabajoth viendront à toi; et sur mon autel on fera des offrandes qui me seront agréables, et ma maison de prière sera glorifiée.

8 "Who are these who fly as a cloud, and as the doves to their windows?

Qui sont ceux-là qui volent vers moi comme des nuages, ou comme des colombes avec leurs petits?

9 Surely the islands shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

Les îles m'ont attendu, et les navires de Tarsis sont les premiers à ramener de loin tes enfants, et avec eux leur argent et leur or, pour sanctifier le nom du Seigneur saint, et glorifier le Saint d'Israël.

10 "Foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you: for in my wrath I struck you, but in my favor have I had mercy on you.

Et les étrangers réédifieront tes remparts, et leurs rois s'empresseront autour, de toi; car je t'ai frappée dans ma colère, et je t'ai aimée dans ma miséricorde.

11 Your gates also shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, and their kings led captive.

Et tes portes seront toujours ouvertes; on ne les fermera ni jour ni nuit pour introduire chez toi les richesses des Gentils et leurs rois qu'on t'amènera.

12 For that nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; yes, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

Car les nations et les rois qui ne te seront pas assujettis périront, et ces nations seront complètement dévastées.

13 "The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, the fir tree, the pine, and the box tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

La gloire du Liban viendra à toi, avec le cyprès, et le cèdre, pour glorifier mon lieu saint.

14 The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending to you; and all those who despised you shall bow themselves down at the soles of your feet; and they shall call you The city of the LORD, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Et les fils de ceux qui t'ont humiliée et irritée viendront à toi, tout tremblants, et tu seras appelée Sion, la ville du Saint d'Israël,

15 "Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man passed through you, I will make you an everlasting excellency, a joy of many generations.

Parce que tu auras été abandonnée et haïe, sans que personne te secourût. Et je te donnerai une allégresse éternelle, une joie qui passera de générations en générations.

16 You shall also drink the milk of the nations, and shall nurse from royal breasts; and you shall know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Et tu seras allaitée du lait des nations, et tu seras nourrie des richesses des rois. Et tu sauras que je suis le Seigneur qui te sauve, le Dieu d'Israël qui te rachète.

17 For bronze I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood bronze, and for stones iron. I will also make your officers peace, and righteousness your ruler.

Et au lieu d'airain je t'apporterai de l'or; au lieu de fer, je t'apporterai de l'argent; au lieu de bois, je t'apporterai de l'airain, et au lieu de pierre, je t'apporterai du fer. Et je te donnerai des princes dans la paix, et des surveillants dans la justice.

18 Violence shall no more be heard in your land, destruction nor calamity within your borders; but you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.

Et l'on n'entendra plus parler d'iniquité sur ta terre, de misère ni d'oppression sur ton territoire; mais tes remparts seront appelés Salut, et tes portes, Louanges.

19 The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor will the moon shine for illumination at night; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

Et ce ne sera plus le soleil qui éclairera tes jours, ni la lune tes nuits; mais le Seigneur sera ta lumière éternelle, et Dieu ta gloire.

20 Your sun shall no more go down, neither shall your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning shall be ended.

Et pour toi le soleil ne se couchera point, la lune ne sera point éclipsée; car le Seigneur sera ta lumière éternelle, et tes jours de deuil seront accomplis.

21 Your people also shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the land forever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

Et ton peuple entier sera juste, et il héritera de la terre pour toujours; et il conservera ses rejetons et les œuvres de ses mains pour ma gloire.

22 The little one shall become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation; I, the LORD, will hasten it in its time."

Du plus petit il en sortira des milliers, et du plus faible, une grande nation. Et moi le Seigneur, au temps marqué, je les réunirai tous.
