Isaiah 17
1 The burden of Damascus: "Look, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.
Peso de Damasco. Eis que Damasco será tirada, e mais não será cidade, antes será um montão de ruínas.
2 Her cities will be abandoned forever. They will be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
As cidades de Aroer serão desamparadas: hão de ser para os rebanhos que se deitarão sem que alguém os espante.
3 The fortress shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Aram. They will be as the glory of the children of Israel," says the LORD of hosts.
E a fortaleza de Ephraim cessará, como também o reino de Damasco e o resíduo da Síria; serão como a glória dos filhos de Israel, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.
4 "It will happen in that day that the glory of Jacob will be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh will become lean.
E será naquele dia que ficará atenuada a glória de Jacob, e a gordura da sua carne se emagrecerá.
5 It will be like when the harvester gathers the wheat, and his arm reaps the grain. Yes, it will be like when one gleans grain in the Valley of Rephaim.
Porque será como o segador que colhe a ceara e com o seu braço sega as espigas: e será também como o que colhe espigas no vale de Rephaim.
6 Yet gleanings will be left there, like the shaking of an olive tree, two or three olives in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outermost branches of a fruitful tree," says the LORD, the God of Israel.
Porém ainda ficarão nele alguns rabiscos, como no sacudir da oliveira, em que só duas ou três azeitonas ficam na mais alta ponta dos ramos, e quatro ou cinco em seus ramos frutíferos, diz o Senhor Deus de Israel.
7 In that day, people will look to their Maker, and their eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel.
Naquele dia atentará o homem para o seu criador, e os seus olhos olharão para o Santo de Israel.
8 They will not look to the altars, the work of their hands; neither shall they respect that which their fingers have made, either the Asherim, or the incense altars.
E não atentará para os altares, obra das suas mãos, nem tão pouco olhará para o que fizeram seus dedos, nem para os bosques, nem para as imagens do sol.
9 In that day, their strong cities will be like the forsaken places of the Hivites and the Amorites, which were forsaken from before the children of Israel; and it will be a desolation.
Naquele dia serão as suas cidades fortes como plantas desamparadas, e como os mais altos ramos, os quais vieram a deixar por causa dos filhos de Israel, e haverá assolação.
10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation, and have not remembered the rock of your strength. Therefore you plant pleasant plants, and set out foreign seedlings.
Porquanto te esqueceste do Deus da tua salvação, e não te lembraste da rocha da tua fortaleza: pelo que bem plantarás plantas formosas, e as cercarás de sarmentos estranhos.
11 In the day of your planting, you hedge it in. In the morning, you make your seed blossom, but the harvest flees away in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.
E no dia em que as plantares as farás crescer, e pela manhã farás que a tua semente brote: porém somente será um montão do segado no dia da enfermidade e das dores insofríveis.
12 Ah, the uproar of many peoples, who roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters.
Ai da multidão dos grandes povos que bramam como bramem os mares, e do rugido das nações que rugem como rugem as impetuosas águas.
13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
Bem rugirão as nações, como rugem as muitas águas, porém repreende-lo-á e fugirá para longe; e será afugentado como a pragana dos montes diante do vento, e como a bola diante do tufão
14 At evening, look, terror. Before the morning, they are no more. This is the portion of those who plunder us, and the lot of those who rob us.
No tempo da tarde eis que há pavor, mas antes que amanheça já não aparece: esta é a parte daqueles que nos despojam, e a sorte daqueles que nos saqueiam.
