Genesis 29
1 Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the people of the east.
൧പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് യാത്ര തുടർന്ന് പൗരസ്ത്യദേശത്ത് എത്തി.
2 He looked and saw a well in the field, and look, three flocks of sheep lying there by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. The stone on the well's mouth was large.
൨അവൻ വെളിമ്പ്രദേശത്ത് ഒരു കിണർ കണ്ടു. അതിനരികിൽ മൂന്ന് ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടം കിടക്കുന്നു. ആ കിണറ്റിൽനിന്നായിരുന്നു ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടങ്ങൾക്ക് വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തിരുന്നത്; എന്നാൽ കിണറിന്റെ തലക്കലുള്ള കല്ല് വലുതായിരുന്നു.
3 Now all the flocks would be gathered there, and they would roll the stone from the well's mouth, and water the sheep, and put the stone again on the well's mouth in its place.
൩ആട്ടിൻകൂട്ടങ്ങൾ വരുമ്പോഴെല്ലാം ഇടയന്മാർ കിണറിന്റെ തലക്കൽ നിന്നു കല്ലുരുട്ടി ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കുകയും കല്ല് തലക്കൽ അതിന്റെ സ്ഥലത്തുതന്നെ തിരികെ വയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും.
4 Jacob said to them, "My brothers, where are you from?" They said, "We are from Haran."
൪യാക്കോബ് അവരോട്: “സഹോദരന്മാരേ, നിങ്ങൾ എവിടെനിന്ന് വരുന്നു” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്: “ഞങ്ങൾ ഹാരാനിൽനിന്ന് വരുന്നു” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
5 He said to them, "Do you know Laban, the grandson of Nahor?" They said, "We know him."
൫അവൻ അവരോട്: “നിങ്ങൾ നാഹോരിന്റെ മകനായ ലാബാനെ അറിയുമോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്: “അറിയും” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
6 He said to them, "Is it well with him?" They said, "It is well. See, Rachel, his daughter, is coming with the sheep."
൬അവൻ അവരോട്: “അവൻ സുഖമായിരിക്കുന്നുവോ” എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു. “സുഖം തന്നെ; അവന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേൽ അതാ ആടുകളോടുകൂടി വരുന്നു” എന്ന് അവർ അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
7 He said, "Look, it is still the middle of the day, not time to gather the livestock together. Water the sheep, and go, pasture them."
൭“പകൽ ഇനിയും വളരെയുണ്ടല്ലോ; കൂട്ടം ഒന്നിച്ച് കൂടുന്ന സമയമായിട്ടില്ല; ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി തീറ്റുവിൻ” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞതിന്
8 They said, "We can't, until all the flocks are gathered together, and they roll the stone from the well's mouth. Then we water the sheep."
൮അവർ: “കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ ഒക്കെയും കൂടുവോളം ഞങ്ങൾക്കു സാദ്ധ്യമല്ല; അവർ കിണറിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽനിന്നു കല്ലുരുട്ടും; പിന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9 While he was yet speaking with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep, for she was tending them.
൯അവൻ അവരോടു സംസാരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോൾതന്നെ റാഹേൽ തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ ആടുകളോടുകൂടെ വന്നു. അവളായിരുന്നു അവയെ മേയിച്ചിരുന്നത്.
10 It happened, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban, his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother's brother, that Jacob went over and rolled the stone from the well's mouth and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.
൧൦തന്റെ അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിനെയും അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകളെയും കണ്ടപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് അടുത്തുചെന്നു കിണറിന്റെ വായ്ക്കൽനിന്നു കല്ലുരുട്ടി, അമ്മയുടെ സഹോദരനായ ലാബാന്റെ ആടുകൾക്കു വെള്ളം കൊടുത്തു.
11 Jacob kissed Rachel, and wept loudly.
൧൧യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ ചുംബിച്ചു പൊട്ടിക്കരഞ്ഞു.
12 Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son. She ran and told her father.
൧൨താൻ അവളുടെ അപ്പന്റെ സഹോദരൻ എന്നും റിബെക്കായുടെ മകനെന്നും യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൾ ഓടിച്ചെന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
13 It happened, when Laban heard the news of Jacob, his sister's son, that he ran to meet Jacob, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things.
൧൩ലാബാൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരിയുടെ മകനായ യാക്കോബിന്റെ വിവരം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അവനെ എതിരേൽക്കുവാൻ ഓടിച്ചെന്ന് അവനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്തു ചുംബിച്ചു വീട്ടിൽ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുപോയി; അവൻ ലാബാനോടു വിവരം ഒക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു.
14 Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh." He lived with him for a month.
൧൪ലാബാൻ അവനോട്: “നീ എന്റെ അസ്ഥിയും മാംസവും തന്നെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവൻ ഒരു മാസക്കാലം അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ താമസിച്ചു.
15 Laban said to Jacob, "Because you are my brother, should you therefore serve me for nothing? Tell me what your wages should be?"
൧൫പിന്നെ ലാബാൻ യാക്കോബിനോട്: “നീ എന്റെ സഹോദരനാകകൊണ്ട് വെറുതെ എന്നെ സേവിക്കണമോ? നിനക്ക് എന്ത് പ്രതിഫലം വേണം? എന്നോട് പറക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 Laban had two daughters. The name of the older was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
൧൬എന്നാൽ ലാബാന് രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു: മൂത്തവൾക്കു ലേയാ എന്നും ഇളയവൾക്കു റാഹേൽ എന്നും പേര്.
17 Leah looked rather plain, but Rachel was beautiful in form and beautiful in appearance.
൧൭ലേയയുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ ശോഭ കുറഞ്ഞതായിരുന്നു; റാഹേലോ സുന്ദരിയും മനോഹരരൂപിണിയും ആയിരുന്നു.
18 Jacob loved Rachel. He said, "I will serve you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter."
൧൮യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനെ സ്നേഹിച്ചു; “നിന്റെ ഇളയമകൾ റാഹേലിനുവേണ്ടി ഞാൻ ഏഴു വർഷം നിന്നെ സേവിക്കാം” എന്ന് അവൻ പറഞ്ഞു.
19 Laban said, "It is better that I give her to you, than that I should give her to another man. Stay with me."
൧൯അതിന് ലാബാൻ: “ഞാൻ അവളെ അന്യപുരുഷനു കൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും നിനക്ക് തരുന്നത് നല്ലത്; എന്നോടുകൂടെ പാർക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20 Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and it seemed only a few days to him because of his love for her.
൨൦അങ്ങനെ യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിനുവേണ്ടി ഏഴു വർഷം സേവനം ചെയ്തു; അവൻ അവളെ സ്നേഹിച്ചതുകൊണ്ട് അത് അവന് അല്പകാലംപോലെ തോന്നി.
21 Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife, for my time is completed, so that I may sleep with her."
൨൧അനന്തരം യാക്കോബ് ലാബാനോട്: “എന്റെ സമയം തികഞ്ഞിരിക്കുകയാൽ ഞാൻ എന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ചെല്ലുവാൻ അവളെ തരണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
22 Laban gathered together all the people of the place, and gave a feast.
൨൨അപ്പോൾ ലാബാൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തെ ജനങ്ങളെ എല്ലാം ഒന്നിച്ചുകൂട്ടി ഒരു വിരുന്നു കഴിച്ചു.
23 It happened in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he slept wit her.
൨൩എന്നാൽ രാത്രിയിൽ അവൻ തന്റെ മകൾ ലേയയെ കൂട്ടി യാക്കോബിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി വിട്ടു; യാക്കോബ് അവളെ സ്വീകരിച്ചു.
24 Laban gave Zilpah his female servant to his daughter Leah as a servant.
൨൪ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകൾ ലേയാക്ക് തന്റെ ദാസി സില്പയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.
25 It happened in the morning that, look, it was Leah. He said to Laban, "What is this you have done to me? Did I not work for you to have Rachel? Why then have you deceived me?"
൨൫നേരം വെളുത്തപ്പോൾ അത് ലേയാ എന്നു കണ്ട് അവൻ ലാബാനോട്: “നീ എന്നോട് ഈ ചെയ്തത് എന്ത്? റാഹേലിനുവേണ്ടി അല്ലയോ ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സേവിച്ചത്? പിന്നെ നീ എന്തിന് എന്നെ ചതിച്ചു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
26 Laban said, "It is not our custom here to give the younger before the firstborn.
൨൬അതിന് ലാബാൻ: “മൂത്തവൾക്കു മുമ്പ് ഇളയവളെ കൊടുക്കുക ഞങ്ങളുടെ നാട്ടിൽ പതിവില്ല. വിവാഹ കർമ്മങ്ങളുടെ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം പൂർത്തീകരിക്കുന്നതു വരെ നീ കാത്തിരിക്കുക
27 Finish the week of this one, and I will give you the other also in exchange for the work which you are to serve with me for another seven years."
൨൭എന്നാൽ അടുത്ത് ഏഴു വർഷംകൂടി നീ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി സേവനം ചെയ്യുമെങ്കിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ റാഹേലിനേയും നിനക്ക് തരും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
28 Then Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week. He gave him Rachel his daughter as wife.
൨൮യാക്കോബ് അങ്ങനെ തന്നെ ചെയ്തു, ലേയയുടെ വിവാഹ ആഴ്ചവട്ടം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി; ലാബാൻ തന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിനെയും അവന് ഭാര്യയായി കൊടുത്തു.
29 Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah, his female servant, to be her servant.
൨൯തന്റെ മകൾ റാഹേലിന് ലാബാൻ തന്റെ ദാസി ബിൽഹയെ ദാസിയായി കൊടുത്തു.
30 So he slept with Rachel also, and he loved Rachel more than Leah. And he worked with him another seven years.
൩൦യാക്കോബ് റാഹേലിന്റെ അടുക്കലും ചെന്നു; റാഹേലിനെ ലേയായെക്കാൾ അധികം സ്നേഹിച്ചു; പിന്നെയും ഏഴു വർഷം ലാബാന്റെ അടുക്കൽ സേവനം ചെയ്തു.
31 The LORD saw that Leah was unloved, so he made her fertile, but Rachel was barren.
൩൧ലേയാ അനിഷ്ടയെന്നു യഹോവ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവളുടെ ഗർഭത്തെ തുറന്നു; റാഹേലോ മച്ചിയായിരുന്നു.
32 Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said, "Because God has looked at my affliction, and given me a son. For now my husband will love me."
൩൨ലേയാ ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: “യഹോവ എന്റെ സങ്കടം കണ്ടു; ഇപ്പോൾ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവ് എന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവൾ അവന് രൂബേൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
33 She conceived again, and bore a son, and said, "Because God has heard that I am unloved, he has therefore given me this son also." So she named him Simeon.
൩൩അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: “ഞാൻ അനിഷ്ട എന്നു യഹോവ കേട്ടതുകൊണ്ട് ഇവനെയും എനിക്ക് തന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവന് ശിമെയോൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
34 She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, "Now this time my husband will become attached to me, since I have given him three sons." Therefore he was named Levi.
൩൪അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു: “ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ സമയം എന്റെ ഭർത്താവ് എന്നോട് പറ്റിച്ചേരും; ഞാൻ അവന് മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാരെ പ്രസവിച്ചുവല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ട് അവന് ലേവി എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
35 She conceived again, and bore a son. She said, "This time will I praise God." Therefore she named him Judah. Then she stopped bearing.
൩൫അവൾ പിന്നെയും ഗർഭംധരിച്ച് ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; “ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ യഹോവയെ സ്തുതിക്കും” എന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു; അതുകൊണ്ട് അവൾ അവന് യെഹൂദാ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. പിന്നെ അവൾക്കു പ്രസവം നിന്നു.
