Ezekiel 20

1 It happened in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

সপ্তম বছরের পঞ্চম মাসের দশ দিনের দিন, ইস্রায়েলের কয়েকজন প্রাচীন সদাপ্রভুর ইচ্ছা জানবার জন্য আমার সামনে বসলেন।

2 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

তখন সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য আমার কাছে উপস্থিত হল

3 "Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: "Is it to inquire of me that you have come? As I live, says the LORD, I will not be inquired of by you."'

“হে মানবসন্তান, তুমি ইস্রায়েলের প্রাচীনদের সঙ্গে আলাপ করে তাদের বলো, ‘সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, তোমরা কি আমার ইচ্ছা জানতে এসেছ? সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, আমার জীবনের দিব্য, আমি তোমাদের আমার ইচ্ছা জানতে দেব না।’

4 Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers;

“তুমি কি তাদের বিচার করবে? হে মানবসন্তান, তুমি কি তাদের বিচার করবে? তবে তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঘৃণ্য কাজের কথা তাদের জানাও

5 and tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: "In the day when I chose Israel, and swore to the offspring of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I swore to them, saying, 'I am the LORD your God';

আর তাদের বলো, ‘সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, আমি যেদিন ইস্রায়েলকে বেছে নিয়েছিলাম, সেইদিন হাত তুলে যাকোবের বংশের লোকদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলাম ও মিশরে তাদের কাছে নিজেকে প্রকাশ করেছিলাম। হাত তুলে তাদের বলেছিলাম, “আমিই তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু।”

6 in that day I swore to them, to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands.

সেইদিন আমি তাদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলাম যে আমি তাদের মিশর দেশ থেকে বার করে তাদের জন্য যে দেশ আমি খুঁজেছি সেখানে নিয়ে যাব, দুধ ও মধু প্রবাহিত দেশে, সেটি সব দেশের মধ্যে সুন্দর।

7 I said to them, 'Cast away every man the abominations of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the LORD your God.'

আমি তাদের বলেছিলাম, “তোমরা প্রত্যেকে যেসব ঘৃণ্য মূর্তি তোমাদের ভালো লেগেছে সেগুলি দূর করো, এবং মিশরের প্রতিমাগুলি দিয়ে নিজেদের অশুচি করো না। আমিই তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু।”

8 But they rebelled against me, and would not listen to me; they each didn't throw away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

“‘কিন্তু তারা আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করল আর আমার কথা শুনতে রাজি হল না; যেসব ঘৃণ্য মূর্তি তাদের ভালো লাগত তা তারা দূর করেনি এবং মিশরের প্রতিমাগুলিও ত্যাগ করেনি। সেইজন্য আমি বলেছিলাম মিশরে আমি তাদের উপর আমার ক্রোধ ও ভীষণ অসন্তোষ ঢেলে দেব।

9 But I worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, among which they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

কিন্তু আমার সুনাম রক্ষার জন্য আমি তা করিনি, যাতে তারা যে জাতিগণের মধ্যে বাস করছিল তাদের কাছে আমার নাম যেন অপবিত্র না হয় ও যাদের সামনে আমি তাদের মিশর থেকে বের করে এনে ইস্রায়েলীদের কাছে আমি আমার পরিচয় দিয়েছি।

10 "'"So I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

অতএব তাদের মিশর দেশ থেকে বের করে মরুভূমিতে আনলাম।

11 I gave them my statutes, and showed them my ordinances, which if a man does, he shall live in them.

আমি তাদের আমার নিয়ম দিলাম ও আমার আইনকানুন তাদের জানালাম, যে তা পালন করবে সে তার মধ্যে দিয়ে বাঁচবে।

12 Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

আরও আমার ও তাদের মধ্যে চিহ্ন হিসেবে আমার বিশ্রাম দিনগুলি তাদের দিলাম যেন তারা জানতে পারে যে, আমি সদাপ্রভু তাদের পবিত্র করেছি।

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they didn't walk in my statutes, and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

“‘কিন্তু ইস্রায়েলের লোকেরা মরুভূমিতে আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করল। তারা আমার নিয়ম অনুসারে চলেনি, আমার আইনকানুন অগ্রাহ্য করেছে যদিও তা পালন করলে মানুষ তার মধ্যে দিয়ে বাঁচবে এবং তারা আমার বিশ্রামবারকে ভীষণভাবে অপবিত্র করেছে। তখন আমি বলেছিলাম যে আমার ক্রোধ তাদের উপর ঢেলে দেব ও মরুভূমিতে তাদের ধ্বংস করব।

14 But I worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them out.

কিন্তু আমার সুনাম রক্ষার জন্য আমি তা করিনি, যাতে যে জাতিদের সামনে আমি তাদের বের করে এনেছিলাম তাদের কাছে আমার নাম অপবিত্র না হয়।

15 "'"Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given to them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the most beautiful of all lands;

এছাড়া সেই মরুভূমিতে আমি হাত তুলে তাদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলাম তাদের যে দেশ দিয়েছি সেই দেশে নিয়ে যাব দুধ ও মধু প্রবাহিত দেশে, সেটি সব দেশের মধ্যে সুন্দর

16 because they rejected my ordinances, and didn't walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

কারণ তারা আমার আইনকানুন অগ্রাহ্য করেছে ও আমার নিয়ম অনুসারে চলেনি এবং আমার বিশ্রামবারকে অপবিত্র করেছে। কেননা তাদের অন্তর তাদের প্রতিমাগুলির অনুগত।

17 Nevertheless my eye spared them, and I didn't destroy them, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness.

তবুও আমি তাদের করুণার চোখে দেখে মরুভূমিতে তাদের একেবারে ধ্বংস করিনি।

18 "'"I said to their children in the wilderness, 'Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

আমি মরুভূমিতে তাদের সন্তানদের বললাম, “তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মতো চলো না, তাদের আইনকানুন রক্ষা কোরো না ও তাদের প্রতিমাগুলি দ্বারা নিজেদের অশুচি কোরো না।

19 I am the LORD your God: walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them;

আমিই তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু; আমার নিয়মগুলি পালন করো ও আমার আইনকানুন রক্ষা করতে যত্ন নিও।

20 and make my Sabbaths holy; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.'

আমার বিশ্রামবার পবিত্র রেখো, যেন তা আমাদের মধ্যে চিহ্নস্বরূপ হয়। তখন তোমরা জানবে আমিই তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু।”

21 But the children rebelled against me; they didn't walk in my statutes, neither kept my ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live in them; and they profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

“‘তবুও সেই সন্তানেরা আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করল তারা আমার নিয়মগুলি পালন করেনি ও আমার আইনকানুন রক্ষা করতে যত্ন নেয়নি “যদিও তা পালন করলে মানুষ তার মধ্যে দিয়ে বাঁচবে” এবং তারা আমার বিশ্রামবারকে অপবিত্র করেছে। তখন আমি বলেছিলাম যে আমার ক্রোধ তাদের উপর ঢেলে দেব ও মরুভূমিতে আমার অসন্তোষ তাদের উপর ব্যয় করব।

22 Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and worked for my name's sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I brought them forth.

কিন্তু আমি আমার হাত বাড়ালাম না, এবং আমার সুনাম রক্ষার জন্য আমি তা করিনি, যাতে যে জাতিদের সামনে আমি তাদের বের করে এনেছিলাম তাদের কাছে আমার নাম অপবিত্র না হয়।

23 Moreover I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries;

এছাড়া সেই মরুভূমিতে আমি হাত তুলে তাদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলাম যে আমি তাদের বিভিন্ন জাতি ও দেশের মধ্যে ছড়িয়ে-ছিটিয়ে দেব,

24 because they had not executed my ordinances, but had rejected my statutes, and had profaned my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols.

কারণ তারা আইনকানুনের বাধ্য হয়নি অথচ নিয়মগুলি অগ্রাহ্য করেছে এবং আমার বিশ্রামবারকে অপবিত্র করেছে ও অগ্রাহ্য করেছে এবং তাদের চোখের লোলুপ দৃষ্টি ছিল তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের পূজিত মূর্তির প্রতি।

25 Moreover also I gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances in which they should not live;

যেসব নিয়ম ভালো না এবং যে আইনকানুন মধ্য দিয়ে তারা বাঁচতে পারবে না সেইসব তাদের দিলাম।

26 and I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that opens the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD."'

আমি তাদের উপহারকে অশুচি হতে দিলাম—তাদের প্রথমজাতকে উৎসর্গ যেন আমি আতঙ্কিত করতে পারি আর তারা জানতে পারবে যে আমিই সদাপ্রভু।’

27 "Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and tell them, 'Thus says the LORD: "In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

“অতএব, হে মানবসন্তান, তুমি ইস্রায়েল কুলের সঙ্গে আলাপ করে তাদের বলো, ‘সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা আমার প্রতি অবিশ্বস্ত হয়ে আমার নিন্দা করেছে

28 For when I had brought them into the land, which I swore to give to them, then they saw every high hill, and every thick tree, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; there also they made their pleasant aroma, and they poured out there their drink offerings.

আমি তাদের যে দেশ দেব বলে প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছিলাম, সেই দেশে যখন তাদের নিয়ে এলাম আর তারা যে কোনও উঁচু পাহাড় বা ডালপালা ছড়ানো সবুজ গাছ দেখল সেখানে তারা তাদের পশুবলি দিত, আমার অসন্তোষ বাড়াতে সেখানে নৈবেদ্য দিত, সুগন্ধি ধূপ রাখত এবং পেয়-নৈবেদ্য ঢালত।

29 Then I said to them, 'What does the high place where you go mean?' So its name is called Bamah to this day."'

তখন আমি তাদের বললাম তোমরা যে উঁচু স্থানে উঠে যাও, ওটি কি?’” (আজ পর্যন্ত সেই জায়গাকে বামা বলে ডাকা হয়।)

30 "Therefore tell the house of Israel, 'Thus says the LORD: "Do you pollute yourselves in the way of your fathers? And do you play the prostitute after their abominations?

“অতএব ইস্রায়েল কুলকে বলো ‘সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন তোমরা কি তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের মতো করে নিজেদের অশুচি করবে এবং তাদের ঘৃণ্য মূর্তিগুলির প্রতি লালসা করবে?

31 And when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons to pass through the fire, do you pollute yourselves with all your idols to this day? And shall I be inquired of by you, house of Israel? As I live, says the LORD, I will not be inquired of by you;

যখন তোমরা তোমাদের উপহার অর্পণ করো—তোমাদের সন্তানদের আগুনের মধ্য বলিদান করো—এই দিন পর্যন্ত তোমরা তোমাদের প্রতিমা দ্বারা নিজেদের অশুচি করছ। হে ইস্রায়েল কুল, আমি কি তোমাদের আমার কাছে অনুসন্ধান করতে দেব? এই কথা সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু বলেন, আমার জীবনের দিব্য, আমি তোমাদের আমার কাছে অনুসন্ধান করতে দেব না।

32 and that which comes into your mind shall not be at all, in that you say, 'We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.'

“‘তোমরা বলে থাকো, “আমরা জগতের অন্যান্য জাতির লোকদের মতো হতে চাই যারা কাঠ ও পাথরের পূজা করে।” কিন্তু তোমাদের মনে যা আছে তা কখনও হবে না।

33 As I live," says the LORD, "surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out, will I be king over you:

এই কথা সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু বলেন, আমার জীবনের দিব্য, আমার শক্তিশালী হাত ও বিস্তারিত বাহু বাড়িয়ে ক্রোধ ঢেলে তোমাদের উপরে রাজত্ব করব।

34 and I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries in which you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out;

আমার শক্তিশালী হাত ও বিস্তারিত বাহু বাড়িয়ে ক্রোধ ঢেলে—বিভিন্ন জাতির মধ্য থেকে আমি তোমাদের নিয়ে আসব এবং যেসব দেশে তোমাদের ছড়িয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছিল সেখান থেকে তোমাদের একত্র করব।

35 and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face.

আমি তোমাদের জাতিদের মরুভূমিতে নিয়ে এসে সেখানে তোমাদের, মুখোমুখি হয়ে, বিচার করব।

36 Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you," says the LORD.

মিশর দেশের মরুভূমিতে আমি যেমন তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের বিচার করেছিলাম, তেমনি তোমাদেরও বিচার করব, এই কথা সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু বলেন।

37 "I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;

তোমরা যখন আমার লাঠির নিচ দিয়ে যাবে তখন আমি তোমাদের পরীক্ষা করব, আমার বিধানের বাঁধন দিয়ে আমি তোমাদের বাঁধব।

38 and I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who disobey against me; I will bring them forth out of the land where they live, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am the LORD."

তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা আমার বিরুদ্ধে থাকে ও বিদ্রোহ করে আমি তাদের দূর করে দেব। তারা যে দেশে বাস করত যদিও সেখান থেকে আমি তাদের বের করে আনব তবুও তারা ইস্রায়েল দেশে ঢুকতে পারবে না। তখন তোমরা জানবে যে, আমিই সদাপ্রভু।

39 "'As for you, house of Israel, thus says the Lord GOD: "Go, serve everyone his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me; but my holy name you shall no more profane with your gifts, and with your idols.

“‘হে ইস্রায়েল কুল, তোমাদের জন্য সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, তোমরা যাও আর প্রত্যেকে নিজের নিজের প্রতিমাগুলির সেবা করো! কিন্তু পরে আমার কথা তোমরা অবশ্যই শুনবে এবং তখন তোমরা তোমাদের উপহার ও প্রতিমা দিয়ে আমার পবিত্র নাম আর অপবিত্র করবে না।

40 For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel," says the LORD, "there shall all the house of Israel, all of them, serve me in the land: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the first fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things.

কারণ, তখন দেশের মধ্যে আমার পবিত্র পাহাড়ের উপরে, ইস্রায়েলের উঁচু পাহাড়ের উপরে, এই কথা সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু বলেন, ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত লোক আমার সেবা করবে এবং সেখানে আমি তাদের গ্রহণ করব। সেখানে আমি তোমাদের সব পবিত্র নৈবেদ্য, দান ও ভালো ভালো উপহার দাবি করব।

41 As a pleasant aroma will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries in which you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you in the sight of the nations.

আমি যখন জাতিদের মধ্য থেকে তোমাদের বের করে আনব এবং যেসব দেশে তোমরা ছড়িয়ে পড়েছ সেখান থেকে একত্র করব তখন সুগন্ধি ধূপের মতো আমি তোমাদের গ্রহণ করব। আমার পবিত্রতা তোমাদের মধ্য দিয়ে প্রকাশিত হবে এবং সেটি সমস্ত জাতি দেখবে।

42 You shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country which I swore to give to your fathers.

আমি তোমাদের যে দেশ দেব বলে হাত তুলে তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে শপথ করেছিলাম, সেই ইস্রায়েল দেশে যখন তোমাদের নিয়ে আসব, তখন তোমরা জানবে যে, আমিই সদাপ্রভু।

43 There you shall remember your ways, and all your doings, in which you have polluted yourselves; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed.

সেখানে তোমাদের আগের আচার ব্যবহারের কথা ও যেসব কাজের দ্বারা তোমরা নিজেদের অশুচি করেছিলে তা মনে করবে এবং তোমাদের সমস্ত মন্দ কাজের জন্য নিজেরা নিজেদের ঘৃণা করবে।

44 You shall know that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for my name's sake, not according to your evil ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, you house of Israel," says the LORD.'"

হে ইস্রায়েল কুল, সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু বলেন, আমি যখন তোমাদের মন্দ আচার-ব্যবহার ও মন্দ কাজ অনুসারে তোমাদের সঙ্গে ব্যবহার করব না, কিন্তু নিজের সুনাম রক্ষার জন্য তোমাদের সঙ্গে ভালো ব্যবহার করব, তখন তোমরা জানবে যে, আমিই সদাপ্রভু।’”

45 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,

সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য আমার কাছে উপস্থিত হল,

46 "Son of man, set your face toward the south, and drop your word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South;

“হে মানবসন্তান, তোমার মুখ তুমি দক্ষিণ দিকে রেখে সেই দেশে বিরুদ্ধে কথা বলো এবং সেখানকার বনের বিরুদ্ধে ভবিষ্যদ্‌বাণী বলো।

47 and tell the forest of the South, 'Hear the word of the LORD: Thus says the LORD, "Look, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby.

দক্ষিণের বনকে তুমি বলো ‘সদাপ্রভুর বাক্য শোনো। সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন আমি তোমার মধ্যে আগুন জ্বালাব, আর তা তোমার সব কাঁচা ও শুকনো গাছপালা পুড়িয়ে ফেলবে। সেই গনগনে আগুন তৃপ্ত হবে না এবং দক্ষিণ থেকে উত্তর পর্যন্ত সমস্ত লোক তাতে ঝলসে যাবে।

48 All flesh shall see that I, the LORD, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched."'"

প্রত্যেকে দেখবে যে আমি সদাপ্রভুই তা জ্বালিয়েছি; তা নিভবে না।’”

49 Then I said, "Ah, LORD. They say of me, 'Isn't he a speaker of parables?'"

তখন আমি বললাম, “হে সার্বভৌম সদাপ্রভু! তারা আমাকে বলছে, ‘সে কি কেবল দৃষ্টান্ত বলছে না?’”
