1 After this it happened that David struck the Philistines, and subdued them, and David took the bridle of Ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
Después de esto aconteció que David derrotó a los filisteos y los sometió. David tomó la rienda de la ciudad principal de la mano de los filisteos.
2 He struck Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.
También derrotó a Moab y los midió con cordel. Los hacía tenderse en tierra: dos cordeles para morir, y un cordel para vivir. Los moabitas fueron esclavos de David y pagaron tributo.
3 David struck also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River.
David derrotó a Hadad-ezer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, cuando éste iba a establecer su dominio hasta el río Éufrates.
4 And David took from him a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for one hundred chariots.
David le capturó 1.700 jinetes y 20.000 hombres de infantería. David desjarretó los caballos de los carruajes y dejó solo para 100 carruajes.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck of the Arameans two and twenty thousand men.
Cuando los sirios de Damasco fueron a ayudar a Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba, David mató a 22.000 hombres de los sirios
6 Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, and brought tribute. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.
y estableció guarniciones en Siria de Damasco. Los sirios fueron esclavos de David, y pagaron tributo. A dondequiera que David iba, Yavé le daba la victoria.
7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem, which, later on, were also taken by Shishak king of Egypt in the days of Rehoboam son of Solomon when he went up to Jerusalem.
David tomó los escudos de oro que llevaban los esclavos de Hadad-ezer y los llevó a Jerusalén.
8 From Tebah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took a very great amount of bronze.
También el rey David tomó gran cantidad de bronce de Beta y Berotai, ciudades de Hadad-ezer.
9 When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had struck all the army of Hadadezer,
Cuando Toi, rey de Hamat, oyó que David venció a todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,
10 then Toi sent Hadoram his son to king David, to greet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And he brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of bronze.
Toi envió a su hijo Joram al rey David para saludarlo y felicitarlo por el combate y la derrota de Hadad-ezer, pues Toi era enemigo de Hadad-ezer. Joram trajo objetos de plata, oro y bronce en su mano,
11 The King also dedicated these to the LORD, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued;
los cuales el rey David dedicó a Yavé, junto con la plata y el oro que tomó de todas las naciones sometidas:
12 of Edom, and of Moab, and of the people of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
de Aram, Moab, los amonitas, los filisteos, Amalec y del despojo de Hadad-ezer, hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.
13 And David made a name for himself when he returned from defeating the Arameans. And Abishai son of Zeruiah defeated the Edomites in the Valley of Salt--eighteen thousand.
David también ganó renombre para él cuando regresó de derrotar a 18.000 sirios en el valle de la Sal.
14 And he put a garrison in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.
Estableció guarniciones en Edom. Por todo Edom instaló guarniciones, y todos los edomitas fueron esclavos de David. A dondequiera que David iba, Yavé le daba la victoria.
15 And David reigned over Israel, exercising justice and righteousness for all his people.
David reinó sobre todo Israel y practicaba el justo juicio con todo su pueblo.
16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was in charge of the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
Joab, hijo de Sarvia, estaba al mando del ejército, y Josafat, hijo de Ahilud, era el cronista.
17 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abiathar the son of Ahimelech, were cohanim; and Shisha was scribe;
Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob, y Ahimelec, hijo de Abiatar, eran sacerdotes. Seraías era el escriba.
18 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada supervised the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief ministers.
Benaía, hijo de Joiada, estaba a cargo de los cereteos y de los peleteos. Los hijos de David eran los príncipes.
