< 1 Corinthians 10 >

1 Now I would not have you ignorant, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
Ta ishato, taani hintte hayssa akeekana mela koyays. Nu aawati ubbay shaarappe garssara hamuttidosona; ubbay abbaa pinnidosona.
2 and were all immersed into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
Entti Musera issifanaw shaaraninne abban xammaqettidosna.
3 and all ate the same spiritual food;
Entti ubbay issi ayyaana kathaa midosona.
4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Messiah.
Qassi ubbay issi ayyaana ushshaa uyidosona. Entti banttana kaalliya ayyaana zaallafe pulttida ushshaa uyidosona; he zaallayka Kiristtoosa.
5 However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Shin Xoossay enttafe darotan ufayttiboonna gisho, entta ahay bazzo biittan wodhdhidi attis.
6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
Entti iitabaa amottidayssada, nukka iitabaa amottonna mela hessi ubbay nuus leemiso gidis.
7 Neither be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
Geeshsha Maxaafan, “Asay maanawunne uyanaw uttidosona; qassi yexxanaw denddidosona” geetettidayssada enttafe issoti issoti eeqas goynnidayssa mela hintte eeqas goynnofite.
8 Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them committed, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell.
Enttafe issoti issoti laymatidayssada nu laymatanaw bessenna. Hessa gaason enttafe issi gallas laatamanne heedzu mukulay hayqqis.
9 Neither let us test the Messiah, as some of them tested, and perished by the serpents.
Enttafe issoti issoti Godaa paaccidi shooshan dukettidi hayqqidayssada nu Godaa paaccanaw bessenna.
10 Neither grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer.
Enttafe issoti issoti zuuzummidi hayqo ehiya kiitanchchuwan dhayidayssada hintteka zuuzummofite.
11 Now these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. (aiōn g165)
Ha entta bolla gakkida ubbay nu naagettana mela nuus leemiso gidis. Qassi wode wurssethaa bolla de7iya nuus timirtte gidana mela ha ubbay xaafettis. (aiōn g165)
12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he does not fall.
Hessa gisho, ta eqqas giya oonikka kunddonna mela bana naago.
13 No temptation has taken you except what is common to humanity. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Ase ubbaa gakkiya paaceppe attin dumma paacey hinttena gakkibeenna. Hintte wolqqay dandda7eyssafe aadhdhiya paacen hintte paacettana mela aathi immonna Xoossay ammanettidayssa. Hinttena paacey gakkiya wode he paaciya I hinttena dandda7isana. Qassi he paaciyappe hintte keyana ogiya I giigisana.
14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
Hiza, ta al77o ishato, eeqa goynnofe haakkite.
15 I speak as to wise people. Judge what I say.
Hintte wozanaama asi gidida gisho ta hayssa odays. Taani geyssi tuma gideyssa hinttee hintte huu7en pirddite.
16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a sharing of the blood of Messiah? The bread which we break, is it not a sharing of the body of Messiah?
Nuuni Xoossaa galatidi shaakettiya anjjo xuu7ay Kiristtoosa suuthaara issifetethi de7eyssa gidenneyye? Qassi nuuni bathiya uythay Kiristtoosa ashuwara issifetethi de7eyssa gidenneyye?
17 Because there is one loaf of bread, we, who are many, are one body; for we all partake of the one loaf of bread.
Nuuni daro gidikkoka uythay issino, nu he issi uythaa shaakettiya gisho issi asatethi.
18 Consider Israel according to the flesh. Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar?
Ane Isra7eele asay oothidayssa akeekite. Yarshshettida yarshshuwa meyssati yarshsho bessaara issifetethi baaweyye?
19 What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
Taani ay gaanaw koyada gaynaa? Eeqas yarshshettida kathay woykko eeqay pathiyabaa gidenna.
20 But I say that the things which pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I do not desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
Entti yarshshey Xoossaas gidonnashin, tuna ayyaanatassa. Hessa gisho, hinttew tuna ayyaanatara issifetethi daana mela koyikke.
21 You cannot both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons.
Hintte Godaa xuu7appe uyishe, qassi tuna ayyaanata xuu7appe uyanaw dandda7ekketa. Godaa gaytappe mishe qassi tuna ayyaanata gaytappe maanaw dandda7ekketa.
22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?
Nu hessa oothidi Godaa yiloynoo? Nu iyappe aadhdhiya minoyye?
23 "All things are lawful," but not all things are profitable. "All things are lawful," but not all things build up.
Hintte, “Ubbabaa oothonna mela diggiyabay baawa” geeta, shin ubbay maaddenna. Hintte, “Ubbabaa oothonna mela diggiyabay baawa” geeta, shin ubbabay dichchenna.
24 Let no one seek his own, but his neighbor's good.
Issi issi asi, hara asi maaddiyabaa qoppanaw bessesppe attin bana maaddiyabaa xalaala qoppofo.
25 Whatever is sold in the butcher shop, eat, asking no question for the sake of conscience,
Hintte kahaa sidhen gelssiya oysha denthonna giyan bayzettiya ashuwa coo miite.
26 for "the earth is the Lord's, and its fullness."
Ays giikko, “Sa7aynne sa7an de7iya ubbay Godaassa.”
27 But if one of those who do not believe invites you to a meal, and you are inclined to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no questions for the sake of conscience.
Issi ammanonna asi hinttena imatanaw koyidi xeegikko baanaw koykko biite. Hintte kahan medhettiya oyshan sidhonna hintte sinthe aathiyabaa ubbaa miite.
28 But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience.
Shin issi asi, “Hayssi eeqas yarshshettidabaa” giikko, he hinttew odida addiya gishonne hintte kaha gisho he kathaa mooppite.
29 Conscience, I say, not your own, but the other's conscience. For why is my liberty judged by another conscience?
Taani, kaha gisho gey he hinttew odida uraa kaha guussufe attin hintte kaha gidenna. Hara asa kaha gisho gada taani ta la77atethaa bolla ays pirddo?
30 If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced for that for which I give thanks?
Taani miya kathaa Xoossaa galatada miikko balidaada ays borettiyana?
31 Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Hiza, hintte ay miikko ay uyikko, woykko ay oothikokka ubbabaa Xoossaa bonchchos oothite.
32 Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the congregation of God;
Ayhudeta gidin Giriketa gidin woykko Xoossaa woosa keethi gidin ooddeskka dhube gidoppite.
33 even as I also please all people in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
Taani ubba wode darota ashshanaw entti maaddettiya oge koyaysippe attin tana maaddiya oge koyikke.
