< Revelation 9 >
1 The fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from the sky which had fallen to the earth. The key to the pit of the abyss was given to him. (Abyssos )
ⲁ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲒⲘⲀϨⲈ ⲚⲀⲄⲄⲈⲖⲞⲤ ⲀϤⲈⲢⲤⲀⲖⲠⲒⲌⲒⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲒⲚⲀⲨ ⲈⲞⲨⲤⲒⲞⲨ ⲈⲀϤϨⲈⲒ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲦⲪⲈ ϨⲒϪⲈⲚ ⲠⲒⲔⲀϨⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲨϮ ⲚⲀϤ ⲚⲚⲒϢⲞϢⲦ ⲚⲦⲈϮϢⲰϮ ⲘⲪⲚⲞⲨⲚ (Abyssos )
2 He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and smoke went up out of the shaft, like the smoke from a great furnace. The sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke from the pit. (Abyssos )
ⲃ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀϤϢⲈ ⲈⲠϢⲰⲒ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲒⲬⲢⲈⲘⲦⲤ ⲚⲦⲈϮϢⲰϮ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲦⲬⲢⲈⲘⲦⲤ ⲚⲞⲨⲚⲒϢϮ ⲚϨⲢⲰ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀϤⲈⲢⲬⲀⲔⲒ ⲚϪⲈⲪⲢⲎ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲠⲒⲀⲎⲢ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲠⲒⲬⲢⲈⲘⲦⲤ ⲚⲦⲈϮϢⲰϮ. (Abyssos )
3 Then out of the smoke came forth locusts on the earth, and power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
ⲅ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲨⲒ ⲚϪⲈϨⲀⲚϢϪⲎⲞⲨ ⲈϨⲢⲎⲒ ⲈϪⲈⲚ ⲠⲒⲔⲀϨⲒ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲠⲒⲬⲢⲈⲘⲦⲤ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲨϮⲈⲢϢⲒϢⲒ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲚⲒϬⲖⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲞⲨⲞⲚⲦⲞⲨ ⲈⲢϢⲒϢⲒ ⲘⲘⲀⲨ ϨⲒϪⲈⲚ ⲠⲔⲀϨⲒ.
4 They were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those people who do not have God's seal on their foreheads.
ⲇ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲨϪⲞⲤ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲈϢⲦⲈⲘⲈⲢⲀⲆⲒⲔⲒⲚ ⲚⲚⲒⲤⲘⲈϨ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲔⲀϨⲒ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ϢϢⲎⲚ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲈⲚⲬⲀⲒ ⲚⲒⲂⲈⲚ ⲈⲦⲞⲨⲈⲦⲞⲨⲰⲦ ⲈⲂⲎⲖ ⲈⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ϮⲤⲪⲢⲀⲄⲒⲤ ⲚⲦⲈⲪⲚⲞⲨϮ ϨⲒ ⲦⲞⲨⲦⲈϨⲚⲒ ⲀⲚ.
5 They were given power not to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion, when it strikes a person.
ⲉ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲨⲦⲎⲒⲤ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲚⲦⲞⲨϢⲦⲈⲘϦⲞⲐⲂⲞⲨ ⲀⲖⲖⲀ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲚⲤⲈϮⲘⲔⲀϨ ⲚⲰⲞⲨ ⲚⲈⲚⲀⲂⲞⲦ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲒⲘⲔⲀϨ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲞⲨⲦϨⲈⲘⲔⲞ ⲈϤⲈϢⲰⲠⲒ ⲈϤⲘⲞⲔϨ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲘⲠⲒⲦϨⲈⲘⲔⲞ ⲚⲦⲈϨⲀⲚϬⲖⲎ ⲈϢⲰⲠ ⲀⲨϢⲀⲚϪⲈⲔϨ ⲞⲨⲢⲰⲘⲒ.
6 In those days people will seek death, and will in no way find it. They will desire to die, and death will flee from them.
ⲋ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚϨⲢⲎⲒ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲒⲈϨⲞⲞⲨ ⲈⲦⲈⲘⲘⲀⲨ ⲈⲢⲈ ⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲈⲨⲈⲔⲰϮ ⲚⲤⲀⲪⲘⲞⲨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲚⲞⲨϪⲈⲘϤ ⲈⲨⲈⲈⲢⲈⲠⲒⲐⲨⲘⲒⲚ ⲈⲪⲘⲞⲨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲪⲘⲞⲨ ⲈϤⲈϤⲰⲦ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϨⲀⲢⲰⲞⲨ.
7 The shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war. On their heads were something like golden crowns, and their faces were like people's faces.
ⲍ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲤⲘⲞⲦ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲒϢϪⲎⲞⲨ ⲈⲦⲈⲘⲘⲀⲨ ⲈⲨⲞⲚⲒ ⲚⲚⲒϨⲐⲰⲢ ⲈⲦⲤⲈⲂⲦⲰⲦ ⲈⲠⲠⲞⲖⲈⲘⲞⲤ ⲈⲞⲨⲞⲚ ⲞⲨⲬⲖⲞⲘ ⲈϤⲦⲞⲒ ⲈϪⲈⲚ ⲦⲀⲪⲈ ⲘⲠⲒⲞⲨⲀⲒ ⲠⲒⲞⲨⲀⲒ ⲘⲘⲰⲞⲨ ⲈⲨⲞⲒ ⲚⲀⲞⲨⲀⲚ ⲚⲚⲞⲨⲂ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲞⲨϨⲞ ⲈϤⲞⲚⲒ ⲘⲠϨⲞ ⲚϨⲀⲚⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲞⲨⲚⲀϪϨⲒ ⲈⲨⲞⲚⲒ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲚⲀ ⲚⲒⲘⲞⲨⲒ
8 They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like those of lions.
ⲏ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲢⲈ ⲠⲞⲨϤⲰⲒ ⲞⲚⲒ ⲘⲪⲀ ⲚⲒϨⲒⲞⲘⲒ
9 They had breastplates, like breastplates of iron. The sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, or of many horses rushing to war.
ⲑ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚⲞⲨⲦⲈⲚϨ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚϨⲀⲚϦⲈⲖⲒⲂϢ ⲘⲂⲈⲚⲒⲠⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ϮⲤⲘⲎ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲞⲨⲦⲈⲚϨ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲦⲤⲘⲎ ⲚⲦⲈϨⲀⲚϨⲀⲢⲘⲀ ⲚⲦⲈϨⲀⲚϨⲐⲰⲢ ⲈⲨⲤⲈⲂⲦⲰⲦ ⲈⲠⲠⲞⲖⲈⲘⲞⲤ
10 They have tails like those of scorpions, and stings. In their tails is their power to harm people for five months.
ⲓ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲞⲨⲞⲚ ⲤⲎⲦ ⲈⲢⲰⲞⲨ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲚⲒϬⲖⲎ ⲚⲈⲘ ϨⲀⲚⲤⲞⲨⲢⲒ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲢⲈ ⲠⲞⲨⲈⲢϢⲒϢⲒ ⲚϨⲢⲎⲒ ϦⲈⲚⲠⲞⲨⲤⲎⲦ ⲈⲈⲢⲀⲆⲒⲔⲒⲚ ⲚⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲚⲈⲚⲀⲂⲞⲦ
11 They have over them as king the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is "Abaddon," and in Greek, he has the name "Apollyon." (Abyssos )
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲈϤⲬⲎ ϨⲒϪⲰⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲞⲨⲢⲞ ⲠⲒⲀⲄⲄⲈⲖⲞⲤ ⲚⲦⲈⲪⲚⲞⲨⲚ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲠⲈϤⲢⲀⲚ ⲘⲘⲈⲦⲈⲂⲢⲈⲞⲤ ⲠⲈ ⲘⲀⲄⲈⲆⲰⲚ ⲈϢⲀⲨⲞⲨⲀϨⲘⲈϤ ⲘⲘⲈⲦⲞⲨⲈⲒⲚⲒⲚ ϪⲈ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲦⲀⲔⲞ. (Abyssos )
12 The first woe is past. Look, there are still two woes coming after this.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲠⲒϨⲞⲨⲒⲦ ⲚⲞⲨⲞⲒ ⲀϤⲤⲒⲚⲒ ⲒⲤ ϨⲎⲠⲠⲈ ⲈϤⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲠⲒⲘⲀϨⲂ ⲚⲞⲨⲞⲒ ⲘⲈⲚⲈⲚⲤⲀ ⲚⲀⲒ.
13 The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲀⲠⲒⲘⲀϨ ⲚⲀⲄⲄⲈⲖⲞⲤ ⲀϤⲈⲢⲤⲀⲖⲠⲒⲌⲒⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲒⲤⲰⲦⲈⲘ ⲈⲞⲨⲤⲘⲎ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲒⲦⲀⲠ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲒⲘⲀ ⲚⲈⲢϢⲰⲞⲨϢⲒ ⲚⲚⲞⲨⲂ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲬⲎ ⲘⲠⲈⲘⲐⲞ ⲘⲠⲒⲐⲢⲞⲚⲞⲤ ⲚⲦⲈⲪϮ
14 saying to the sixth angel who had one trumpet, "Free the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates."
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲈϤϪⲰ ⲘⲘⲞⲤ ⲘⲠⲒⲘⲀϨ ⲚⲀⲄⲄⲈⲖⲞⲤ ⲪⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ϮⲤⲀⲖⲠⲒⲄⲜ ⲚⲦⲞⲦϤ ϪⲈ ⲂⲈⲖ ⲠⲒⲆ ⲚⲀⲄⲄⲈⲖⲞⲤ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ.
15 The four angels were freed who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year, so that they might kill one third of humanity.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲨⲂⲞⲖⲞⲨ ⲘⲠⲒⲆ ⲚⲀⲄⲄⲈⲖⲞⲤ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦⲀⲨⲤⲞⲚϨⲞⲨ ⲈⲞⲨⲚⲒϢϮ ⲚⲒⲀⲢⲞ ⲈⲨⲪⲢⲀⲦⲎⲤ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦⲤⲈⲂⲦⲰⲦ ⲈϮⲞⲨⲚⲞⲨ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲠⲒⲈϨⲞⲞⲨ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲠⲒⲀⲂⲞⲦ ⲚⲈⲘ ϮⲢⲞⲘⲠⲒ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲚⲤⲈϦⲰⲦⲈⲂ ⲘⲪⲢⲈⲄ ⲚⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ.
16 The number of the armies of the horsemen was two hundred million. I heard the number of them.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲦⲎⲠⲒ ⲘⲠⲒⲤⲦⲀⲦⲈⲨⲘⲀ ⲚⲦⲈⲠⲒϨⲨⲠⲠⲒⲔⲞⲚ ⲐⲂⲀ ⲂⲚϨⲀⲚⲐⲂⲀ ⲚⲈⲀⲒⲤⲰⲦⲈⲘ ⲈⲦⲞⲨⲎⲠⲒ.
17 Thus I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them, having breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of lions. Out of their mouths proceed fire, smoke, and sulfur.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲘⲠⲀⲒⲢⲎϮ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲀⲒⲚⲀⲨ ⲈⲚⲒϨⲐⲞⲢ ϦⲈⲚϮϨⲞⲢⲀⲤⲒⲤ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦϨⲈⲘⲤⲒ ϨⲒϪⲰⲞⲨ ⲈⲞⲨⲞⲚ ϨⲀⲚϦⲈⲖⲒⲂϢ ⲚⲬⲢⲰⲘ ⲦⲞⲒ ϨⲒⲰⲦⲞⲨ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲞⲨϨⲨⲀⲔⲒⲚⲐⲒⲚⲞⲚ ⲚⲈⲘ ϨⲀⲚⲐⲎⲚ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲦⲀⲪⲈ ⲚⲚⲒϨⲐⲰⲢ ⲘⲪⲢⲎϮ ⲚⲦⲀⲪⲈ ⲚϨⲀⲚⲘⲞⲨⲒ ⲈⲨⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲆⲈ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲢⲰⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲞⲨⲬⲢⲰⲘ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲞⲨⲬⲢⲈⲘⲦⲤ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲞⲨⲐⲎⲚ.
18 By these three plagues were one third of humanity killed: from the fire, the smoke, and the sulfur, which proceeded out of their mouths.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲠⲀⲒⲄ ⲚⲈⲢϦⲞⲦ ⲀⲨⲘⲞⲨ ⲚϪⲈⲪⲢⲈⲄ ⲚⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲠⲒⲬⲢⲰⲘ ⲚⲈⲘ ϮⲬⲢⲈⲘⲦⲤ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲠⲒⲐⲎⲚ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲐⲚⲎⲞⲨ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲢⲰⲞⲨ.
19 For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they harm.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲠⲈⲢϢⲒϢⲒ ⲄⲀⲢ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲒϨⲐⲰⲢ ⲚⲀϤⲬⲎ ϦⲈⲚⲢⲰⲞⲨ ⲠⲈ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲠⲞⲨⲤⲎⲦ ⲠⲞⲨⲤⲎⲦ ⲄⲀⲢ ⲚⲀϤⲞⲚⲒ ⲠⲈ ⲚϨⲀⲚϨϤⲰ ⲈⲞⲨⲞⲚ ϨⲀⲚⲀⲪⲈ ⲈⲢⲰⲞⲨ ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲚϨⲢⲎⲒ ϦⲈⲚⲪⲀⲒ ⲚⲀⲨⲈⲢⲀⲆⲒⲔⲒⲚ ⲠⲈ ⲚⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲚⲈⲚⲀⲂⲞⲦ.
20 The rest of humanity, who were not killed with these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they would not worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, and of stone, and of wood; which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk.
ⲕ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲠⲤⲈⲠⲒ ⲚⲚⲒⲢⲰⲘⲒ ⲘⲠⲞⲨⲘⲞⲨ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲀⲒⲈⲢϦⲰⲦ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲘⲠⲞⲨⲈⲢⲘⲈⲦⲀⲚⲞⲒⲚ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲒϨⲂⲎⲞⲨⲒ ⲚⲦⲈⲚⲞⲨϪⲒϪ ϨⲒⲚⲀ ⲚⲦⲞⲨϢⲦⲈⲘⲞⲨⲰϢⲦ ⲚⲚⲒⲒϦ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲒⲒⲆⲰⲖⲞⲚ ⲚⲒⲚⲞⲨⲂ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲒϨⲀⲦ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲒϨⲞⲘⲦ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲒϢⲈ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲒⲰⲚⲒ ⲚⲎ ⲈⲦⲈ ⲘⲘⲞⲚ ϢϪⲞⲘ ⲘⲘⲰⲞⲨ ⲈⲚⲀⲨ ⲘⲂⲞⲖ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲈⲤⲰⲦⲈⲘ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲈⲘⲞϢⲒ
21 They did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲞⲨⲞϨ ⲘⲠⲞⲨⲈⲢⲘⲈⲦⲀⲚⲞⲒⲚ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲞⲨϦⲰⲦⲈⲂ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲞⲨⲪⲀϦⲢⲒ ⲚϨⲒⲔ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲞⲨⲠⲞⲢⲚⲒⲀ ⲚⲈⲘ ⲚⲞⲨⲤⲰϤ ⲞⲨⲆⲈ ⲈⲂⲞⲖ ϦⲈⲚⲚⲞⲨϬⲒⲞⲨⲒ.
