Psalms 124

1 [A Song of Ascents. By David.] If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, let Israel now say,

Une chanson d'ascension. Par David. Si ce n'était pas Yahvé qui était de notre côté, qu'Israël dise maintenant,

2 if it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us;

si Yahvé n'avait pas été de notre côté, quand les hommes se sont soulevés contre nous,

3 then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

alors ils nous auraient engloutis vivants, quand leur colère s'est enflammée contre nous,

4 then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul;

alors les eaux nous auraient submergés, le ruisseau aurait passé sur notre âme.

5 then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

Alors les eaux orgueilleuses auraient passé sur notre âme.

6 Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Béni soit Yahvé, qui ne nous a pas livrés en proie à leurs dents.

7 Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowler's snare. The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

Notre âme s'est échappée, comme un oiseau, du piège de l'oiseleur. Le piège est brisé, et nous nous sommes échappés.

8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Notre secours est dans le nom de l'Éternel, qui a fait le ciel et la terre.
