Mark 6
1 And he went out from there and came into his own country, and his disciples followed him.
Salió de allí. Vino a su tierra, y sus discípulos le siguieron.
2 And when the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things?" and, "What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands?
Cuando llegó el sábado, se puso a enseñar en la sinagoga, y muchos que le oían se asombraban, diciendo: “¿De dónde ha sacado éste estas cosas?” y “¿Qué sabiduría se le ha dado a éste, para que por sus manos se realicen obras tan grandes?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Josi, Judas, and Simon? Are not his sisters here with us?" They were offended at him.
¿No es éste el carpintero, hijo de María y hermano de Santiago, José, Judá y Simón? ¿No están sus hermanas aquí con nosotros?” Así que se ofendieron con él.
4 Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house."
Jesús les dijo: “Un profeta no carece de honor, sino en su propio país, entre sus parientes y en su propia casa.”
5 And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people, and healed them.
No pudo hacer allí ninguna obra poderosa, salvo que impuso las manos sobre algunos enfermos y los sanó.
6 And he was amazed because of their unbelief. And he went around the villages teaching.
Se asombraba de la incredulidad de ellos. Recorría las aldeas enseñando.
7 And he called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
Llamó a los doce, y comenzó a enviarlos de dos en dos; y les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos.
8 And he commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no pack, no money in their belts,
Les ordenó que no llevaran nada para el camino, sino sólo un bastón: ni pan, ni cartera, ni dinero en la bolsa,
9 but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.
sino que llevaran sandalias y no se pusieran dos túnicas.
10 And he said to them, "Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there.
Les dijo: “Dondequiera que entréis en una casa, quedaos allí hasta que salgáis de ella.
11 And if any place will not receive you or listen to you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them."
A quien no os reciba ni os escuche, cuando salgáis de allí, sacudid el polvo que está bajo vuestros pies como testimonio contra él. Os aseguro que el día del juicio será más tolerable para Sodoma y Gomorra que para esa ciudad”.
12 So they went out and proclaimed that all should repent.
Salieron y predicaron que la gente debía arrepentirse.
13 They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.
Expulsaron a muchos demonios y ungieron con aceite a muchos enfermos y los sanaron.
14 King Herod heard this, for his name had become known, and he said, "John the Baptist has risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him."
El rey Herodes oyó esto, pues su nombre se había hecho conocido, y dijo: “Juan el Bautista ha resucitado de entre los muertos, y por eso actúan en él estos poderes.”
15 But others said, "He is Elijah." Others said, "He is a prophet, like one of the prophets."
Pero otros decían: “Es Elías”. Otros decían: “Es un profeta, o como uno de los profetas”.
16 But Herod, when he heard this, said, "This is John, whom I beheaded. He has risen."
Pero Herodes, al oír esto, dijo: “Este es Juan, a quien yo decapité. Ha resucitado de entre los muertos”.
17 For Herod himself had sent out and arrested John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, for he had married her.
Porque el mismo Herodes había enviado y arrestado a Juan y lo había encerrado en la cárcel por causa de Herodías, la mujer de su hermano Felipe, pues se había casado con ella.
18 For John said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."
Porque Juan había dicho a Herodes: “No te es lícito tener la mujer de tu hermano.”
19 So Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she could not,
Herodías se puso en contra de él y deseaba matarlo, pero no pudo,
20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed, but he heard him gladly.
porque Herodes temía a Juan, sabiendo que era un hombre justo y santo, y lo mantenía a salvo. Cuando lo escuchó, hizo muchas cosas, y lo escuchó con gusto.
21 And then a convenient day came, that Herod on his birthday gave a supper for his nobles, the high officers, and the leaders of Galilee.
Llegó un día oportuno en que Herodes, en su cumpleaños, hizo una cena para sus nobles, los altos funcionarios y los principales hombres de Galilea.
22 And when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and those sitting with him. The king said to the young woman, "Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you."
Cuando la hija de Herodías entró y bailó, agradó a Herodes y a los que estaban sentados con él. El rey dijo a la joven: “Pídeme lo que quieras y te lo daré”.
23 And he swore to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom."
Le juró: “Todo lo que me pidas, te lo daré, hasta la mitad de mi reino”.
24 So she went out, and said to her mother, "What should I ask?" And she said, "The head of John the baptizer."
Salió y le dijo a su madre: “¿Qué voy a pedir?”. Ella dijo: “La cabeza de Juan el Bautista”.
25 And she came in immediately with haste to the king, and asked, "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter."
Ella entró inmediatamente con premura al rey y le pidió: “Quiero que me des ahora mismo la cabeza de Juan el Bautista en una bandeja”.
26 And the king was exceedingly sorry, but for the sake of his oaths, and those reclining, he did not wish to refuse her.
El rey lo lamentó mucho, pero por el bien de sus juramentos y de sus invitados a cenar, no quiso rechazarla.
27 So immediately the king sent out a soldier of his guard, and commanded to bring John's head, and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
Inmediatamente el rey envió a un soldado de su guardia y ordenó que trajera la cabeza de Juan; éste fue y lo decapitó en la cárcel,
28 and brought his head on a platter, and gave it to the young woman; and the young woman gave it to her mother.
y trajo su cabeza en una bandeja y se la dio a la joven; y la joven se la dio a su madre.
29 And when his disciples heard this, they came and took up his corpse, and placed it in a tomb.
Cuando sus discípulos se enteraron de esto, vinieron, tomaron su cadáver y lo pusieron en un sepulcro.
30 Then the apostles gathered themselves together to Jesus, and they told him all things, whatever they had done, and whatever they had taught.
Los apóstoles se reunieron con Jesús y le contaron todo lo que habían hecho y lo que habían enseñado.
31 And he said to them, "Come away by yourselves to an isolated place, and rest awhile." For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Él les dijo: “Venid a un lugar desierto y descansad un poco”. Porque eran muchos los que iban y venían, y no tenían tiempo ni para comer.
32 So they went away in the boat to an isolated place by themselves.
Se fueron en la barca a un lugar desierto, solos.
33 But they saw them going, and many recognized him and ran there on foot from all the cities and they arrived before them.
Los vieron ir, y muchos lo reconocieron y corrieron allí a pie desde todas las ciudades. Llegaron antes que ellos y se acercaron a él.
34 And he came out, saw a large crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.
Salió Jesús, vio una gran multitud y se compadeció de ellos porque eran como ovejas sin pastor; y se puso a enseñarles muchas cosas.
35 And when it was late in the day, his disciples came to him, and said, "This place is desolate, and it is late in the day.
Cuando se hizo tarde, sus discípulos se acercaron a él y le dijeron: “Este lugar está desierto, y ya es tarde.
36 Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages, and buy themselves something to eat."
Despídelos para que vayan al campo y a las aldeas de los alrededores y se compren el pan, porque no tienen qué comer.”
37 But he answered them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to him, "Are we to go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread, and give them something to eat?"
Pero él les respondió: “Dadles vosotros de comer”. Le preguntaron: “¿Vamos a comprar doscientos denarios de pan y les damos de comer?”.
38 He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go see." When they knew, they said, "Five, and two fish."
Les dijo: “¿Cuántos panes tienen? Id a ver”. Cuando lo supieron, dijeron: “Cinco y dos peces”.
39 He commanded them that everyone should sit down in groups on the green grass.
Les ordenó que todos se sentaran en grupos sobre la hierba verde.
40 They sat down in ranks, by hundreds and by fifties.
Se sentaron en filas, de cien en cien y de cincuenta en cincuenta.
41 He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed and broke the loaves, and he gave to his disciples to set before them, and he divided the two fish among them all.
Tomó los cinco panes y los dos peces, y mirando al cielo, bendijo y partió los panes, y los dio a sus discípulos para que los pusieran delante, y repartió los dos peces entre todos.
42 They all ate, and were filled.
Todos comieron y se saciaron.
43 They took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and also of the fish.
Recogieron doce cestas llenas de trozos y también de los peces.
44 Those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.
Los que comieron los panes fueron cinco mil hombres.
45 And immediately he made his disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he himself was sending the crowd away.
Inmediatamente hizo que sus discípulos subieran a la barca y se adelantaran a la otra orilla, a Betsaida, mientras él mismo despedía a la multitud.
46 After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray.
Después de despedirse de ellos, subió al monte a orar.
47 When evening had come, the boat was in the midst of the sea, and he was alone on the land.
Cuando llegó la noche, la barca estaba en medio del mar, y él estaba solo en tierra.
48 He saw them distressed in rowing, for the wind was against them. In the watch between three and six in the morning he came to them, walking on the sea, and he would have passed by them,
Viendo que se afanaban en remar, pues el viento les era contrario, hacia la cuarta vigilia de la noche se acercó a ellos, caminando sobre el mar; y hubiera querido pasar junto a ellos,
49 but they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and began to scream;
pero ellos, al verlo caminar sobre el mar, supusieron que era un fantasma, y gritaron;
50 for they all saw him, and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them, and said to them, "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."
pues todos lo vieron y se turbaron. Pero él habló enseguida con ellos y les dijo: “¡Anímense! ¡Soy yo! No tengáis miedo”.
51 And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were completely profusely astonished among themselves;
Subió a la barca con ellos, y el viento cesó, y ellos se asombraron mucho entre sí, y se maravillaron;
52 for they had not understood about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.
porque no habían entendido lo de los panes, sino que tenían el corazón endurecido.
53 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore.
Cuando hubieron cruzado, llegaron a tierra en Genesaret y atracaron en la orilla.
54 When they had come out of the boat, immediately the people recognized him,
Cuando bajaron de la barca, la gente lo reconoció inmediatamente,
55 and ran around that whole region, and began to bring those who were sick, on their mats, to where they heard he was.
y corrió por toda aquella región, y comenzó a llevar a los enfermos sobre sus esteras a donde oían que estaba.
56 Wherever he entered, into villages, or into cities, or into the country, they placed the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch just the fringe of his garment; and everyone who touched him were made well.
Dondequiera que entraba — en las aldeas, o en las ciudades, o en el campo —, ponían a los enfermos en las plazas y le rogaban que sólo les dejara tocar los flecos de su manto; y todos los que lo tocaban quedaban sanos.
