Luke 14
1 And it happened, when he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, that they were watching him.
এক বিশ্রামদিনে যীশু এক বিশিষ্ট ফরিশীর বাড়িতে খাবার খেতে গেলেন। লোকেরা তাঁর দিকে সতর্ক দৃষ্টি রেখেছিল।
2 And look, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.
সেখানে তাঁর সামনে ছিল এক ব্যক্তি যার শরীর রোগের কারণে অস্বাভাবিক ফুলে উঠেছিল।
3 Jesus, answering, spoke to the Law scholars and Pharisees, saying, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"
যীশু ফরিশী ও শাস্ত্রবিদদের প্রশ্ন করলেন, “বিশ্রামদিনে রোগনিরাময় করা বৈধ, না অবৈধ?”
4 But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.
তারা কিন্তু নিরুত্তর রইল। তাই যীশু তাকে ধরে সুস্থ করলেন ও তাকে বিদায় দিলেন।
5 He answered them, "Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, would not immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?"
তারপর তিনি তাদের প্রশ্ন করলেন, “তোমাদের কারও ছেলে বা বলদ যদি বিশ্রামদিনে কুয়োতে পড়ে যায়, তোমরা কি তখনই তাকে তুলবে না?”
6 But they could make no reply to this.
প্রত্যুত্তরে তাদের কিছু বলার ছিল না।
7 He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,
আর নিমন্ত্রিত লোকেরা কীভাবে বিশিষ্ট আসন দখল করছিল তা লক্ষ্য করে তিনি তাদের একটি দৃষ্টান্ত দিয়ে পরামর্শ দিলেন:
8 "When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, do not sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,
“কেউ যখন তোমাকে বিবাহভোজে নিমন্ত্রণ করে, তখন তুমি সম্মানিত ব্যক্তির আসন গ্রহণ কোরো না। কারণ তোমার চেয়ে বেশি সম্মানিত কোনো ব্যক্তি হয়তো নিমন্ত্রিত হয়ে থাকতে পারেন।
9 and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, 'Make room for this person.' Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.
যদি তাই হয়, তাহলে যিনি তোমাদের দুজনকেই নিমন্ত্রণ করেছেন, তিনি এসে তোমাকে বলবেন, ‘এই ভদ্রলোককে আপনার আসনটি ছেড়ে দিন।’ তখন লজ্জিত হয়ে কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আসনে তোমাকে বসতে হবে।
10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, 'Friend, move up higher.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
কিন্তু তুমি নিমন্ত্রিত হলে, নিকৃষ্টতম আসনে গিয়ে বোসো, তাহলে তোমার নিমন্ত্রণকর্তা তোমাকে বলবেন, ‘বন্ধু, এর চেয়ে ভালো আসনে উঠে বসো।’ তখন অন্যান্য সহ নিমন্ত্রিতদের সামনে তুমি সম্মানিত হবে।
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
কারণ যে কেউ নিজেকে উন্নত করে, তাকে নত করা হবে, আর যে কেউ নিজেকে নত করে তাকে উন্নত করা হবে।”
12 He also said to the one who had invited him, "When you make a dinner or a supper, do not call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.
যীশু তখন তাঁর নিমন্ত্রণকর্তাকে বললেন, “তুমি যখন দুপুরের, বা রাতের ভোজ আয়োজন করবে, তোমার বন্ধুবান্ধব, ভাইবোন অথবা আত্মীয়স্বজন, বা তোমার ধনী প্রতিবেশীদের নিমন্ত্রণ করবে না; তাহলে তারা তার প্রতিদানে আবার তোমাকে নিমন্ত্রণ করবে। আর তাই হবে তোমার কেবলমাত্র পুরস্কার।
13 But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;
পরিবর্তে, দীনদরিদ্র, পঙ্গু, খোঁড়া ও দৃষ্টিহীনদের নিমন্ত্রণ করো।
14 and you will be blessed, because they do not have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous."
তখনই তুমি আশীর্বাদধন্য হবে। তারা তোমাকে প্রতিদান কিছু দিতে না পারলেও, ধার্মিকদের পুনরুত্থানকালে তুমি প্রতিদান লাভ করবে।”
15 Now when one of those who were reclining with him heard these things, he said to him, "Blessed is he who will eat bread in the Kingdom of God."
তাঁর সঙ্গে ভোজে খাচ্ছিলেন এমন এক ব্যক্তি একথা শুনে যীশুকে বলল, “ধন্য সেই মানুষ, যে ঈশ্বরের রাজ্যের ভোজে আহার করবে।”
16 But he said to him, "A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.
যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “কোনো ব্যক্তি এক বিশাল ভোজের আয়োজন করে বহু অতিথিকে নিমন্ত্রণ করলেন।
17 And he sent his servant at the hour for supper to tell those who were invited, 'Come, for everything is ready now.'
ভোজের সময় তিনি তাঁর দাসের মারফত নিমন্ত্রিতদের বলে পাঠালেন, ‘সব আয়োজনই এখন সম্পূর্ণ, তোমরা এসো।’
18 They all as one began to make excuses. "The first said to him, 'I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.'
“কিন্তু তারা সবাই একইভাবে অজুহাত দেখাতে লাগল। প্রথম ব্যক্তি বলল, ‘আমি সবেমাত্র একটি জমি কিনেছি, আমাকে গিয়ে সেটি দেখতেই হবে। আমাকে মার্জনা করো।’
19 "Another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.'
“আর একজন বলল, ‘আমি এইমাত্র পাঁচজোড়া বলদ কিনেছি। সেগুলি পরখ করে দেখার জন্য আমি পথে বেরিয়ে পড়েছি। আমাকে মার্জনা করো।’
20 "Another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'
“আর এক ব্যক্তি বলল, ‘আমি সবেমাত্র বিবাহ করেছি, তাই আমি যেতে পারছি না।’
21 "That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.'
“পরে সেই দাস ফিরে এসে তার প্রভুকে এসব কথা জানাল। তখন সেই বাড়ির কর্তা ক্রুদ্ধ হয়ে তার দাসকে আদেশ দিলেন, ‘নগরের পথে পথে ও অলিগলিতে শীঘ্র বেরিয়ে পড়ো এবং কাঙাল, পঙ্গু, অন্ধ ও খোঁড়া—সবাইকে নিয়ে এসো।’
22 "The servant said, 'Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.'
“সেই দাস বলল, ‘প্রভু, আপনার আদেশমতোই কাজ হয়েছে, কিন্তু এখনও অনেক জায়গা খালি আছে।’
23 "The lord said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
“প্রভু তখন তার দাসকে বললেন, ‘বড়ো রাস্তায় ও গ্রামের অলিগলিতে যাও এবং যাদের পাও তাদের জোর করে নিয়ে এসো যেন আমার বাসভবন ভর্তি হয়ে ওঠে।
24 For I tell you that none of those individuals who were invited will taste of my supper.'"
আমি তোমাকে বলছি, যাদের নিমন্ত্রণ করা হয়েছিল তাদের কেউই আমার ভোজের স্বাদ পাবে না।’”
25 Now large crowds were going with him. He turned and said to them,
অনেক লোক যীশুর সঙ্গে সঙ্গে চলছিল। তিনি তাদের দিকে ফিরে বললেন,
26 "If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
“কেউ যদি আমার কাছে আসে এবং তার বাবা ও মা, স্ত্রী ও সন্তান, ভাই ও বোন, এমনকি, নিজের প্রাণকেও অপ্রিয় জ্ঞান না করে, সে আমার শিষ্য হতে পারে না।
27 Whoever does not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
যে আমার অনুগামী হতে চায় অথচ নিজের ক্রুশ বহন করে না, সে আমার শিষ্য হতে পারে না।
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?
“মনে করো, তোমাদের মধ্যে একজন একটি মিনার তৈরি করতে চাইল। সে কি প্রথমেই খরচের হিসেব করে দেখে নেবে না, যে তা শেষ করার মতো তার যথেষ্ট আর্থিক সংগতি আছে, কি না?
29 Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,
কারণ ভিত স্থাপন করে তা শেষ করতে না পারলে, যে দেখবে, সেই তাকে বিদ্রুপ করে বলবে,
30 saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish.'
‘এই লোকটি নির্মাণ করতে শুরু করেছিল, কিন্তু শেষ করতে পারেনি।’
31 Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
“অথবা, মনে করো, এক রাজা অন্য এক রাজার বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের অভিযান চালাতে উদ্যত হলেন। তিনি কি প্রথমেই বসে বিবেচনা করে দেখবেন না, কুড়ি হাজার সৈন্য নিয়ে যে রাজা তার বিরুদ্ধে এগিয়ে আসছেন, দশ হাজার সৈন্য নিয়ে তিনি তার প্রতিরোধ করতে পারবেন, কি না?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy, and asks for conditions of peace.
তিনি সক্ষম না হলে, প্রতিপক্ষ অনেক দূরে থাকতে থাকতেই তিনি এক প্রতিনিধিদল পাঠিয়ে সন্ধির শর্ত জেনে নেবেন।
33 So therefore whoever of you who does not renounce all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.
একইভাবে, তোমাদের মধ্যে কেউ তার সর্বস্ব পরিত্যাগ না করলে আমার শিষ্য হতে পারে না।
34 Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?
“লবণ তো উত্তম, কিন্তু লবণ যদি তার লবণত্ব হারায়, তাহলে কেমনভাবে আবার তা লবণাক্ত করা যাবে?
35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear."
সেগুলি জমি, অথবা সারঢিবি, কোনো কিছুরই যোগ্য নয় বলে বাইরে ফেলে দেওয়া হবে। “শোনবার মতো কান যার আছে, সে শুনুক।”
