< Jonah 4 >

1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.

2 He prayed to the LORD, and said, "Please, LORD, wasn't this what I said when I was still in my own country? Therefore I hurried to flee to Tarshish, for I knew that you are a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and you relent of doing harm.
Edo gbe ɖa na Yehowa be, “O Yehowa, ɖe menye esiae megblɔ esi mele mía dedu me oa? Esia ta le gɔmedzedzea me la, mesi ɖo ta Tarsis, elabena menya be Mawu, amenuvela kple nublanuikpɔlae nènye. Ègbɔa dzi blewu; lɔlɔ̃ matrɔ bɔ ɖe asiwò, eye nètsɔa nu vɔ̃wo kena.
3 Therefore now, LORD, take, I beg you, my life from me; for it is better for me to die than to live."
Eya ta Yehowa, meɖe kuku ɖe nye agbe ɖa; enyo nam be maku wu be manɔ agbe.”
4 The LORD said, "Is it right for you to be angry?"
Yehowa trɔ biae be, “Enyo be nàdo dɔmedzoe ɖe nu sia ta?”
5 Then Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made himself a booth, and sat under it in the shade, until he might see what would become of the city.
Ale Yona yi ɖanɔ anyi ɖe dua ƒe ɣedzeƒe lɔƒo nublanuitɔe, eye wòtsɔ aŋgbawo wɔ agbadɔe henɔ ete nɔ lalam be yeakpɔ nu si le dzɔdzɔ ge ɖe dua dzi la ɖa.
6 The LORD God prepared a vine, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to deliver him from his discomfort. So Jonah was exceedingly glad because of the vine.
Yehowa, Mawu na yevukutsati mie heɖo vɔvɔli ɖe Yona tame be wòatsi ŋudɔɖuame la nu. Yona kpɔ dzidzɔ ŋutɔ le yevukutsati la ŋuti.
7 But God prepared a worm at dawn the next day, and it chewed on the vine, so that it withered.
Ke le fɔŋli la, Mawu na ŋɔ aɖe ɖu yevukutsati la, eye wòyrɔ.
8 It happened, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah's head, so that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is better for me to die than to live."
Esi ɣe dze la, Mawu na ŋdɔ sesẽ la kplɔ ɣedzeƒeya xɔdzo aɖe va ƒo ɖe Yona dzi va se ɖe esime nu te eŋu vevie, eye wòbia be yeaku, elabena egblɔ be, “Enyo nam be maku wu manɔ agbe.”
9 God said to Jonah, "Is it right for you to be angry about the vine?" He said, "I am right to be angry, even to death."
Mawu gblɔ na Yona be, “Enyo be nàdo dɔmedzoe esi ati la kua?” Yona ɖo eŋu be, “Ɛ̃, tɔnye dzɔ be mado dɔmedzoe va se ɖe esime maku!”
10 The LORD said, "You have been concerned for the vine, for which you have not labored, neither made it grow; which came up in a night, and perished in a night.
Yehowa gblɔ nɛ be, “Esi ati si dzi mèkpɔ wòtsi o, eya ŋutɔe mie le zã ɖeka me, eye wòku le zã ɖeka me la ƒe ku le vewòm ale ɖe,
11 Shouldn't I be concerned for Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred twenty thousand persons who can't discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much livestock?"
ekema nu ka ta nyemakpɔ nublanui na du gã xɔŋkɔ abe Ninive ene, du si me ame akpe alafa ɖeka kple blaeve siwo menya woƒe ɖusi tso woƒe mia gbɔ o la le kpe ɖe woƒe lã gbogboawo ŋu o ɖo?”
