< Jacob 3 >

1 Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment.
Wachalal, mijaluj iwonojel ix aꞌjtijabꞌ, rumal cher iwetaꞌm chi kꞌax na ri kabꞌan chuqꞌatik tzij pa qawiꞌ.
2 For in many things we all stumble. If anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.
Qonojel kujsach apanoq. We kꞌo jun winaq ri man kasach ta wi pa ri utzij, jun sukꞌ laj winaq riꞌ, kakwin riꞌ kuchajij ri utyoꞌjal.
3 Now if we put bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, we guide their whole body.
Ri kej are kaqakoj ri chꞌichꞌ pa kichiꞌ kujkwinik keꞌqajikꞌo, rech kujkinimaj, kujkwinik kabꞌan qe pa kiwiꞌ.
4 And look at the ships also, though they are so big and are driven by fierce winds, are yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires.
Chiwila xuqujeꞌ ri e jukubꞌ bꞌinibꞌal puꞌwiꞌ ri jaꞌ pune e nimaꞌq xuqujeꞌ kepaqchiꞌloꞌx rumal ri nimaq taq kyaqiqꞌ, xa jun laj nitzꞌ ri kakoj chubꞌinisaxik.
5 So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest.
Je xuqujeꞌ ri qaqꞌ jun chike ri sibꞌalaj nitzꞌ rech ri qatyoꞌjal, xa kꞌu kunimarisaj ribꞌ che ri mayijabꞌal taq jastaq. Chichomajmpe rij, xa jun laj nitzꞌ qꞌaqꞌ kakꞌatow jun nimalaj juyubꞌ.
6 And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by hell. (Geenna g1067)
Je xuqujeꞌ ri qaqꞌ jun itzel qꞌaqꞌ nojinaq che etzelal. Jun chike ri nitzꞌ che ri qatyoꞌjal are waꞌ ri kuchꞌulujij ronojel ri qatyoꞌjal, we kakꞌatisax rumal ri tyoꞌnel qꞌaqꞌ, kakwinik kukꞌatisaj ronojel ri qakꞌaslemal. (Geenna g1067)
7 For all kinds of animals, and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, are being tamed and have been tamed by humankind.
Ri winaq kwininaq che kimanxorisaxik konojel kiwach aꞌwaj, juyubꞌil taq aꞌwaj, aꞌwaj ri kerapinik, aꞌwaj rech pa ri jaꞌ, xuqujeꞌ aꞌwaj ri kakijururej kibꞌ choch ri ulew.
8 But nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Man kꞌo ta kꞌu jun winaq kwininaq chumanxorisaxik ri raqꞌ. Sibꞌalaj itzel, maj jun kwininaq chuqꞌilik, nojinaq che etzelal jetaq ri utyoꞌbꞌal ri kumatz ri kakamisanik.
9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people, who are made in the image of God.
Rukꞌ ri qaqꞌ kaqaqꞌijilaꞌj ri Dios xuqujeꞌ rukꞌ ri qaqꞌ keꞌqetzelaj kiwach ri winaq ri e tiktal rumal ri Dios.
10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
Pa ri qachiꞌ kel wi loq tewechibꞌal xuqujeꞌ kel loq etzelal. Makuya ta kꞌut jeriꞌ kakꞌulmatajik.
11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water?
Pa jun kꞌiyibꞌal jaꞌ ¿la kel loq kiꞌ jaꞌ xuqujeꞌ kꞌa jaꞌ?
12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Nor is salt water able to produce sweet.
Wachalal, ¿la kakwin jun ucheꞌal higos kuwachij olivo? ¿La kakwin ri ucheꞌal uvas kuwachij higos? Man kakwin taj, xuqujeꞌ man kakꞌiy taj kiꞌ jaꞌ pa jun kꞌiybꞌal kꞌa ja.
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
We kꞌo jun chiꞌxoꞌl qas kꞌo retaꞌmabꞌal xuqujeꞌ qas kuchꞌobꞌ ri kubꞌano, chukꞌutuꞌ rukꞌ ri unoꞌjinik xuqujeꞌ rukꞌ ri utz taq chak ri kubꞌano.
14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast and do not lie against the truth.
Are kꞌu we kꞌax kinaꞌ che jun chik, xuqujeꞌ kiwetzelaj uwach, man kuya taj jeriꞌ kixnoꞌjinik. Man kinaꞌ taj nimal, xane are chibꞌana ri utzilal.
15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
We are kibꞌan ri etzelal man are ta tajin kikoj riꞌ ri etaꞌmabꞌal rech ri Dios xane are tajin kikoj ri retaꞌmabꞌal ri winaq xuqujeꞌ ri retaꞌmabꞌal ri Itzel.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
Jawjeꞌ kꞌo wi oyawal, kꞌaxal, nimal xuqujeꞌ ronojel uwach etzelal chilaꞌ kꞌo wi sachinaqil.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.
Ri etaꞌmanik ri kape rukꞌ ri Dios sibꞌalaj chꞌajchꞌoj, sibꞌalaj kajororik, kutoqꞌobꞌisaj wach xuqujeꞌ man kubꞌan ta bꞌanoj tzij.
18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
Ri uwachinik ri sukꞌal katik pa jaꞌmaril jeriꞌ rech kakechabꞌej ri winaq ri kakitik jaꞌmaril.
