< Hebrews 5 >

1 For every high priest, being taken from among people, is appointed for people in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
ⲁ̅ⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϫⲓ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲉϣⲁⲩⲕⲁⲑⲓⲥⲧⲁ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉϫⲛ̅ⲛ̅ⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲣⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ϫⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲧⲁⲗⲉⲇⲱⲣⲟⲛ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲓⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁ ϩⲁⲛⲟⲃⲉ.
2 The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.
ⲃ̅ⲉⲩⲛ̅ϭⲟⲙ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉϣⲡ̅ϩⲓⲥⲉ ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲟ ⲛ̅ⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ. ⲙⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲡⲗⲁⲛⲁ. ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲱⲱϥ ϫⲉ ϥϣⲟⲟⲡ ϩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲙⲛ̅ⲧϭⲱⲃ.
3 Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.
ⲅ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲃⲏⲏⲧⲥ̅ ϣ̅ϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲉϣⲁϥⲧⲁⲗⲟ ⲉϩⲣⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲁⲡⲗⲁⲟⲥ. ⲛϥ̅ⲧⲁⲗⲟ ϩⲱⲱϥ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉⲉⲓϩⲉ ϩⲁⲛⲉϥⲛⲟⲃⲉ·
4 Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.
ⲇ̅ⲛⲉⲣⲉⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ϫⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲧⲁⲉⲓⲟ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲉⲩⲉⲓⲛⲉ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲛ̅ⲁⲁⲣⲱⲛ.
5 So also Messiah did not glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father."
ⲉ̅ⲧⲁⲓ̈ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲭ̅ⲥ̅. ⲛ̅ⲧⲁϥϯⲉⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲩⲁⲁϥ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ. ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲡⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛⲙ̅ⲙⲁϥ ⲡⲉ. ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲁⲓ̈ϫⲡⲟⲕ ⲙ̅ⲡⲟⲟⲩ.
6 As he says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek." (aiōn g165)
ⲋ̅ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉϣⲁϥϫⲟⲟⲥ ϩⲛ̅ⲕⲉⲙⲁ ϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲏⲏⲃ ϣⲁⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲧⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲙ̅ⲙⲉⲗⲭⲓⲥⲉⲇⲉⲕ. (aiōn g165)
7 In the days of his flesh, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.
ⲍ̅ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛ̅ⲧⲉϥⲥⲁⲣⲝ̅ ⲁϥϫⲓⲥⲉ ϩⲣⲁⲓ ϩⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲥⲟⲡⲥ̅ ⲙⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲕⲱⲣϣ̅ ⲛ̅ⲛⲁϩⲣⲛ̅ⲡⲉⲧⲉⲟⲩⲛ̅ϭⲟⲙ ⲙ̅ⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲟⲩϫⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲙⲟⲩ. ϩⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲛⲟϭ ⲛ̅ⲁϣⲕⲁⲕ ⲙⲛ̅ϩⲉⲛⲣⲙ̅ⲉⲓⲏ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛⲧ(ϩ)ⲟⲧⲉ.
8 Although he was a Son, he learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
ⲏ̅ⲕⲁⲓⲡⲉⲣ ⲉⲡϣⲏⲣⲉ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲥⲃⲱ ⲉⲡⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϣⲟⲡⲟⲩ.
9 Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of everlasting salvation, (aiōnios g166)
ⲑ̅ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲁϥϫⲱⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧⲥⲱⲧⲙ̅ ⲛ̅ⲥⲱϥ ⲛ̅ⲁⲓⲧⲓⲟⲥ ⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲩϫⲁⲓ̈ ⲛ̅ϣⲁⲉⲛⲉϩ. (aiōnios g166)
10 named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
ⲓ̅ⲉⲁⲩⲙⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲧⲧⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲙ̅ⲙⲉⲗⲭⲓⲥⲉⲇⲉⲕ.
11 About him we have many words to say, and hard to interpret, seeing you have become dull of hearing.
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲡⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲉⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲟϣ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲉϣⲁϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉϥⲙⲟⲕϩ̅ ⲉⲃⲟⲗϥ̅. ⲉⲧⲃⲉϫⲉⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲟⲟⲛⲉ ϩⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲙⲁⲁϫⲉ.
12 For when by reason of the time you ought to be teachers, you again need to have someone teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God. You have come to need milk, not solid food.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲕⲁⲓⲅⲁⲣ ⲉϣϣⲉ ⲉⲣⲱⲧⲛ̅ ⲉⲣ̅ⲥⲁϩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲡⲉⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ. ⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲣ̅ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲟⲛ ⲛ̅ϯⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ̅. ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲧⲟⲓⲭⲓⲟⲛ ⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲣⲭⲏ ⲛ̅ⲛ̅ϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ. ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛ̅ⲣ̅ⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉ ⲛ̅ⲟⲩϩⲣⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲥϫⲟⲟⲣ.
13 For everyone who lives on milk is not experienced in the word of righteousness, for he is a baby.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲙ ⲉⲧϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲙ̅ⲡⲉⲣⲱⲧⲉ. ⲟⲩⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲇⲓⲕⲁⲓⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ. ⲟⲩⲕⲟⲩⲓ̈ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ.
14 But solid food is for those who are full grown, who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲧⲁⲛⲓⲧⲉⲗⲓⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲉϩⲣⲉ ⲉⲧϫⲟⲟⲣ. ⲛⲁⲓ̈ ⲉⲧⲃⲉⲑⲉⲝⲓⲥ ⲉⲩⲛ̅ⲧⲁⲩ ⲙ̅ⲙⲁⲩ ⲛ̅ⲛⲉⲩⲁⲓⲥⲑⲏⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲉⲩⲅⲩⲙⲛⲁⲍⲉ ⲉⲇⲓⲁⲕⲣⲓⲛⲉ ⲛ̅ⲧⲙⲏⲧⲉ ⲙ̅ⲡⲡⲉⲧⲛⲁⲛⲟⲩϥ ⲙⲛ̅ⲡⲡⲉⲑⲟⲟⲩ·
