2 Corinthians 10
1 Now I Paul, myself, entreat you by the humility and gentleness of Messiah; I who in your presence am lowly among you, but being absent am of good courage toward you.
| אני, פולוס, מתחנן לפניכם בענווה, כפי שהמשיח היה מתחנן לפניכם. אחדים מכם טוענים:”מכתביו של פולוס נועזים כל עוד הוא רחוק מאתנו, אך בבואו הנה יפחד להרים את קולו!“ |
2 But I implore you that when I am present I may not have to be bold with the confidence with which I intend on showing against some, who consider us to be walking according to the flesh.
| אני מתחנן לפניכם שלא תאלצוני לנהוג בכם ביד קשה בבואי אליכם, כי אני בטוח שאוכל לנהוג בחומרה באלה שטוענים שמעשי ומניעי הינם של אדם רגיל. |
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh;
| אני אמנם אדם רגיל וחלש, אך איני נלחם את מלחמותיי בדרך אנושית רגילה. |
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty in God for the tearing down of strongholds,
| איני נלחם בכלי מלחמה רגילים, אלא בכלי המלחמה של אלוהים, ובעזרתם אני הורס את מבצרי השטן. |
5 throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Messiah;
| אכן, כלי מלחמה אלה יכולים למוטט תחבולות וכל דבר שמתנשא נגד דעת אלוהים. בעזרתם אני מכניע את אלה לציות למשיח. |
6 and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience will be made full.
| אני מוכן להעניש כל הפרת משמעת עד שתושלם המשמעת שלכם במשיח. |
7 Do you look at things only as they appear in front of your face? If anyone trusts in himself that he is Messiah's, let him consider this again with himself, that, even as he is Messiah's, so also we are Messiah's.
| הבעיה אתכם היא, שאתם מסתכלים רק בקנקן ולא במה שיש בו. אם מישהו בטוח בעצמו שהוא שייך למשיח, שלא ישכח שאני שייך למשיח בדיוק כמוהו! |
8 For though I should boast somewhat abundantly concerning our authority, (which the Lord gave for building you up, and not for casting you down) I will not be disappointed,
| גם אם נראה שאני מתגאה מדי על הסמכות שנתן לי האדון, לבנותכם ולא לפגוע בכם, איני מתבייש. |
9 that I may not seem as if I desire to terrify you by my letters.
| אני אומר זאת כדי שלא תחשבו שאני מאיים עליכם סתם במכתבי. |
10 For, "His letters," they say, "are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is despised."
| ”אל תשימו לב למכתביו של פולוס“, אומרים אחדים מכם.”הוא אמנם נשמע מרשים ותקיף, אך בבואו אלינו אישית תראו שהוא חלש ודיבורו אינו משכנע.“ |
11 Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such are we also in deed when we are present.
| הפעם ביקורי האישי יהיה מרשים ותקיף כמכתבי. |
12 For we are not bold to number or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves. But they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves with themselves, are without understanding.
| כמובן שאיני מעיז לכלול את עצמי עם אלה שמשבחים את עצמם, ואף לא להשוות את עצמי אליהם. מה טיפשים הם! הם משווים את עצמם לעצמם, ושופטים את עצמם על־פי קנה המידה שקבעו בעצמם. |
13 But we will not boast beyond proper limits, but within the boundaries with which God appointed to us, which reach even to you.
| אנחנו לעומתם איננו מתפארים יתר על המידה; אנו מתפארים רק בתחום העבודה שהקצה לנו אלוהים, ואתם נכללים בתחום זה. |
14 For we do not stretch ourselves too much, as though we did not reach to you. For we came even as far as to you with the gospel of Messiah,
| איננו מפריזים בסמכותנו עליכם, שכן אנו הבאנו לכם ראשונים את בשורת המשיח. |
15 not boasting excessively in the work done by others, but having hope that as your faith grows, we will be abundantly enlarged by you in our sphere of influence,
| איננו מתפארים בדברים מעבר לתחומנו, ואף לא בעמלם של אחרים. אנו רק מקווים שאמונתכם תגדל ושעבודתנו ביניכם תגדל גם היא, אך רק בתחום שהוקצה לנו. |
16 so as to preach the gospel even to the regions beyond you, not to boast in what someone else has already done.
| לאחר מכן נוכל לבשר את הבשורה לערים הרחוקות מכם, היכן שאיש אינו מבשר את הבשורה, וכך לא נפלוש לתחומם של אחרים. |
17 But "he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."
| הכתובים אומרים:”המתהלל יתהלל בה׳!“ |
18 For it is not he who commends himself who is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
| כי הלא אין ערך רב להתפארותו של אדם בעצמו, אך כאשר אלוהים משבח אדם יש לשבח ערך רב! |
