Zechariah 7
1 It happened in the fourth year of king Daryavesh that the word of Jehovah came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.
Im vierten Jahre des Königs Darius erging das Wort des Herrn an Zacharias, am vierten Tag des neunten Monds, im Kislev.
2 The people of Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem Melech, and their men, to entreat Jehovah's favor,
Man hatte nämlich in das Gotteshaus Sarezer abgesandt, den königlichen Aufseher, und seine Leute, den Herren zu begütigen
3 and to speak to the priests of the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, "Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?"
und dann die Priester im Haus des Herrn der Heerscharen und die Propheten zu befragen: "Soll ich im fünften Monat weiter weinen, Enthaltsamkeit noch weiter üben, wie ich getan schon viele Jahre?"
4 Then the word of Jehovah of hosts came to me, saying,
Damit erging an mich das Wort des Herrn der Heerscharen:
5 "Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, 'When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?
"Zum ganzen Landvolk sprich und zu den Priestern: 'Wenn ihr gefastet und geklagt im fünften und im siebten Mond, und zwar schon siebzig Jahre lang, habt ihr gefastet mir zu Nutzen?
6 When you eat, and when you drink, do you not eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?
Ja, wenn ihr esset, trinket, seid nicht dann ihr die Essenden und ihr die Trinkenden?'"
7 Aren't these the words which Jehovah proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the Negev and the lowland were inhabited?'"
Hat nicht das gleiche schon der Herr verkünden lassen durch die früheren Propheten, einst, als Jerusalem noch stand und es ihm wohl erging mit seinen Städten ringsumher und noch bewohnt der Süden und die Niederung gewesen?
8 The word of Jehovah came to Zechariah, saying,
Das Wort des Herrn erging an Zacharias weiter.
9 "Thus has Jehovah of hosts spoken, saying, 'Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother.
So sprach der Herr der Heerscharen: "Gerechte Richtersprüche fällt! Ein jeder zeige seinem Bruder Liebe und Erbarmen!
10 Do not oppress the widow, nor the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.'
Bedränget Witwen nicht und nicht Verwaiste, nicht Fremdlinge, nicht Arme! Und keiner sinne Böses gegen seinen Bruder!"
11 But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
Sie aber weigerten sich, aufzumerken, und machten ihre Nacken widerspenstig, verhärteten dazu die Ohren, daß sie nimmer hörten.
12 Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law, and the words which Jehovah of hosts had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Jehovah of hosts.
Zu einem Diamanten machten sie ihr Herz. Sie hörten nicht auf das Gesetz und auf die Worte, die der Herr der Heerscharen durch seinen Geist einst durch die früheren Propheten ausgesprochen. Darob erhob sich großer Zorn vom Herrn der Heerscharen.
13 It has come to pass that, as he called, and they refused to listen, so they will call, and I will not listen," said Jehovah of hosts;
Und es geschah: Wie er gerufen, sie jedoch nicht hören wollten, da sprach der Herr der Heerscharen: "So mögen sie nur rufen: Doch ich höre nicht.
14 "but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they made the pleasant land desolate."
Zerstreun will ich sie unter alle Heidenvölker, die sie nicht kennen. Nach ihrem Abzug soll das Land so öde werden, daß niemand es zum Hin- und Herweg mehr benützt." So machten sie ein herrlich Land zur Wüste.
