Romans 6
1 What should we say then? Should we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
¿Qué diremos entonces? ¿Seguiremos en el pecado, para que la gracia abunde?
2 Absolutely not. We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?
¡Que no sea nunca! Nosotros, que hemos muerto al pecado, ¿cómo podríamos seguir viviendo en él?
3 Or do you not know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
¿O no sabéis que todos los que fuimos bautizados en Cristo Jesús fuimos bautizados en su muerte?
4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism to death, that just like Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
Fuimos, pues, sepultados con él por el bautismo en la muerte, para que así como Cristo resucitó de entre los muertos por la gloria del Padre, así también nosotros andemos en una vida nueva.
5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;
Porque si nos hemos unido a él en la semejanza de su muerte, seremos también partícipes de su resurrección;
6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
sabiendo esto, que nuestro viejo hombre fue crucificado con él, para que el cuerpo del pecado fuera eliminado, a fin de que ya no fuéramos esclavos del pecado.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
Porque el que ha muerto ha sido liberado del pecado.
8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him;
Pero si hemos muerto con Cristo, creemos que también viviremos con él,
9 knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no more has dominion over him.
sabiendo que Cristo, resucitado de entre los muertos, ya no muere. La muerte ya no se enseñorea más de él.
10 For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God.
Porque la muerte que murió, murió para el pecado una vez; pero la vida que vive, la vive para Dios.
11 In the same way, consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Así pues, considérense también muertos al pecado, pero vivos para Dios en Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
Por tanto, no dejéis que el pecado reine en vuestro cuerpo mortal, para que lo obedezcáis en sus concupiscencias.
13 Neither present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
Asimismo, no presentéis vuestros miembros al pecado como instrumentos de injusticia, sino presentaos a Dios como vivos de entre los muertos, y vuestros miembros como instrumentos de justicia para Dios.
14 For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.
Porque el pecado no se enseñoreará de vosotros, pues no estáis bajo la ley, sino bajo la gracia.
15 What then? Should we sin because we are not under law, but under grace? Absolutely not.
¿Qué, pues? ¿Pecaremos porque no estamos bajo la ley sino bajo la gracia? ¡Que nunca sea así!
16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, whether of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
¿No sabéis que cuando os presentáis como siervos y obedecéis a alguien, sois siervos de aquel a quien obedecéis, ya sea del pecado a la muerte o de la obediencia a la justicia?
17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were entrusted.
Pero gracias a Dios que, mientras erais siervos del pecado, os hicisteis obedientes de corazón a esa forma de enseñanza a la que fuisteis entregados.
18 Being made free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Liberados del pecado, os hicisteis siervos de la justicia.
19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as slaves to righteousness for sanctification.
Hablo en términos humanos a causa de la debilidad de vuestra carne; pues así como presentasteis vuestros miembros como siervos de la inmundicia y de la maldad sobre la maldad, así ahora presentad vuestros miembros como siervos de la justicia para la santificación.
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
Porque cuando erais siervos del pecado, estabais libres de la justicia.
21 What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
¿Qué fruto teníais entonces en las cosas de las que ahora os avergonzáis? Porque el fin de esas cosas es la muerte.
22 But now, being made free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result of everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
Pero ahora, liberados del pecado y convertidos en siervos de Dios, tenéis el fruto de la santificación y el resultado de la vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
