Romans 2
1 Therefore you are without excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
Nun auf diese Weise gilt es jedem Menschen, welcher richtet: du bist ohne Entschuldigung; wo du den andern richtest, verurteilst du nur dich selbst; denn, während du richtest, thust du das nämliche.
2 Now we know that the judgment of God is in accordance with truth against those who practice such things.
Wir wissen aber, daß Gottes Gericht nach der Wahrheit kommt über die, welches solches thun.
3 And do you think this, you who judge those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God?
Meinst du, o Mensch, der du richtest die solches thun, und thust es doch selbst, daß du dem Gerichte Gottes entgehen werdest?
4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
Oder verachtest du den Reichtum seiner Güte, Geduld und Langmut, und denkst nicht daran, daß Gottes Güte dich zur Buße drängt?
5 But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are storing up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Ja, mit deinem Starrsinn und der Unbußfertigkeit deines Herzens sammelst du dir Zorn auf den Tag des Zornes und der Offenbarung des gerechten Gerichts Gottes,
6 who "will pay back to everyone according to their works:"
der da wird vergelten einem jeden nach seinen Werken:
7 to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality -- everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
denen, die mit Ausdauer im guten Werk nach Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Unvergänglichkeit trachten, ewiges Leben; (aiōnios g166)
8 But to those who are self-seeking, and do not obey the truth, but obey wickedness -- wrath and anger,
den Widersprechern aber, die nicht der Wahrheit sondern der Ungerechtigkeit folgen: Zorn und Grimm -
9 affliction and distress, on every human being who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Drangsal und Bangen kommt über die Seelen aller Menschen, die das Böse schaffen, wie des Juden zuerst so auch des Griechen;
10 But glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Herrlichkeit, Ehre und Friede für alle, die das Gute wirken, wie für den Juden zuerst so auch für den Griechen.
11 For there is no partiality with God.
Denn bei Gott ist kein Ansehen der Person.
12 For as many as have sinned without the law will also perish without the law. As many as have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.
Denn die da ohne Gesetz sündigten, werden auch ohne Gesetz verloren gehen, und die mit Gesetz sündigten, werden durch Gesetz gerichtet werden;
13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified.
denn nicht die Hörer des Gesetzes sind gerecht vor Gott, sondern die Thäter des Gesetzes werden gerecht gesprochen werden.
14 For when the non-Jews who do not have the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law to themselves,
Wenn denn Heiden, die das Gesetz nicht haben, von Natur thun, was das Gesetz sagt, so sind sie, die kein Gesetz haben, sich selbst Gesetz, -
15 since they show the work of the law written on their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts either accusing or defending them,
zeigen sie ja, wie des Gesetzes Werk ihnen ins Herz geschrieben ist, indem ihr Gewissen sein Zeugnis dazu gibt und die Gedanken hinüber und herüber teils verklagen teils auch entschuldigen -
16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of people, according to my Good News, by Christ Jesus.
für den Tag, da Gott richten wird, was in den Menschen verborgen ist, durch Jesus Christus laut meines Evangeliums.
17 But if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God,
Wenn aber du dich einen Juden nennst und stützest dich auf das Gesetz, und rühmst dich Gottes,
18 and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,
und kennst seinen Willen, und verstehst worauf es ankommt, kraft deiner Gesetzesbildung,
19 and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
und glaubst nun ein Führer für Blinde, ein Licht für die in der Finsternis zu sein,
20 a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth.
ein Erzieher für Unverständige, ein Lehrer für Unmündige, weil du ja die Erkenntnis und die Wahrheit leibhaftig hast im Gesetze -
21 You therefore who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?
nun du, der du den andern lehrst, lehrst dich selbst nicht? Du predigst nicht zu stehlen, und stiehlst?
22 You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who detest idols, do you rob temples?
du verbietest den Ehebruch, und brichst die Ehe? du verabscheust die Götzenbilder, und raubst Tempel aus?
23 You who boast in the law, do you, by disobeying the law, dishonor God?
du, der du dich des Gesetzes rühmst, verunehrst Gott durch die Uebertretung desselben?
24 For because of you the name of God is blasphemed among the nations, just as it is written.
Wird doch der Name Gottes um euretwillen unter den Heiden gelästert, wie geschrieben steht.
25 For circumcision indeed profits, if you are a doer of the law, but if you are a transgressor of the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.
Ja, die Beschneidung ist eine gute Sache, wenn du das Gesetz thust: bist du aber ein Uebertreter des Gesetzes, so ist dir deine Beschneidung zum Gegenteil ausgeschlagen.
26 If therefore the uncircumcised keep the requirements of the law, won't his uncircumcision be counted as circumcision?
Wenn nun der Unbeschnittene die Gerechtsame des Gesetzes beobachtet, wird ihm denn nicht sein Unbeschnittensein als Beschneidung angerechnet werden?
27 Won't the uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfills the law, judge you, who with the letter and circumcision are a transgressor of the law?
Ja, der physisch Unbeschnittene, der doch das Gesetz erfüllt, wird dich richten, der du samt Buchstaben und Beschneidung Uebertreter des Gesetzes bist.
28 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh;
Jude ist nicht, wer es dem Augenschein nach ist, Beschneidung nicht, was man am Fleische sieht,
29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, by the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from people, but from God.
sondern Jude ist, der es im Verborgenen ist, und Beschneidung, die am Herzen geschieht, im Geist, nicht buchstäblich, wo der Ruhm nicht kommt von den Menschen, sondern von Gott.
